One more reason to keep on going

Irma was gone. Matt was gone. Just about everyone from their universe seemed to have been podded, and Kaya decided, in the wake of this, that she should still make sure the classrooms were kept clean. The place she was staying, Will's room with all of the gymnastics, had been clean after Kaya ad attempted a fairly rigorous workout. She had made sure that Matt's wares were stocked, the common room swept and cleaned, so that when the other came around, they would have a nice place to sit and talk.

First there was Cornelia's room, with all of its earth nation goodness and flowers, making sure that the architecture was carefully polished and everything watered so nothing was neglected. She couldn't help passing by this room and thinking of Toph.

Then she moved onto Hay Lin's room, which never failed to remind her of Aang with all of its wind implements, very much something an airbender would have loved: she would have to make sure to tell both Aang and Nima about it if they had the chance to visit. It always seemed so big and grand and open to her, as she thought the element air should anyhow.

Tarnee's room, while once making her wary with its affiliation for fire, was gotten over once you stepped inside: it was kept in balance with all of the books and the globes that were a representation of energy everywhere. She always loved coming here to expand her mind a bit, and it was a perfect reflection of an intellectual girl Kaya never had the pleasure of meeting.

And then, of course, there was Irma's room. She knew there was an obvious bias here, stepping into the room that reflected her best, with all of its watery element and the ability to swim in and out of the water that surrounded the room. She was cleaning here a little, and then could not help herself: she discarded her clothing, wrapped only in her underclothes and jumped in, allowing the underwater environment to envelop her. Perhaps her favorite thing about this place was how she could still breathe underwater.

She was so entranced, she did not notice anyone coming in.

"I did not say that. I said that simply looking at a body is not something I sexualize. Though the curves, dips and smooth expanses of flesh are definitely pleasing to look at, it is more along the lines of both appearance and what the body can do."

Nokosi raised a finger in example and closed his eyes, seemingly in thought. "The simple movement of a stretch; how one curve connects to the next in one sleek line. Or the elegant and precise movements of one dancing; the grace and weightlessness in such an action. Or running! Taut muscles moving and stretching beneath smooth, sweat-sleeked skin..." This was probably heading into the realm of too much information.

He clasped his hands together cheerily and regarded her with a wide smile. "Much like when you were practicing before our chase in Hay Lin's room! Or afterwards when we still had that undescribable high from the excitement of it all." He paused, eyes darting to the side.

"Well, I did not sexualize that, but it was exceedingly pleasing to watch." Yep. Definitely too much information; not that he seemed bothered by his certain level of honesty.

"Perhaps it is odd for me saying so. I see the innate beauty of the naked body, but just staring at one, scantily dressed or no, is not enough for me to place thoughts about it in an intimate nature."

"Very true. There is much to say about the still body as an object of perfection. But we were speaking of it in a sexual nature, were we not? In a normal sense, it would be why I have no qualms about being nude. I was actually very confused for a good while when I first went into the cities and noticed that many people treated a naked body with either shame, lust or disdain."

He smiled when color began creeping in her cheeks but that suddenly faltered and was quickly replaced with a blank look. Yes, he liked being praised just like any other person would have. But it was that specific combination of words that both made his chest tighten and his heart swell with pride.

You really are an accomplished elf, Nokosi.

That right there was the only reason he was alive, today. Become something meaningful for your people. You must be a productive member of Night Elven society, Nokosi. You need to prove your worth to them, so they know that you're accomplished.

Those words; it was so long ago and yet, those words his parents left him with in that forest were the driving force for everything. He knew it was a lie. He'd been told as much from his mother's mouth when he thought he'd accomplished that goal. But he'd spent so many years believing it, wanting it, living it, that even if it were a fabrication to ease a child's mind before death...it was still the god's honest truth for him.

And so he found himself at a momentary loss of words. His lips moved a few times much like the gaping mouth of a fish, before he simply shook his head quickly. He dropped his head slightly, ears wilting back. The elf was a bit bashful in his mannerisms but the smile that slowly spread across his face had to be the most sincere, pure, happiest one he had ever been able to conjure up.

"...Thank you. I have never been told that, before and I do not think you could properly understand what hearing those words mean to me." It meant a lifetime of what was originally a lie suddenly being made truth.

"And I thank you for the compliment on my appearance as well. It is...rare, to hear such kindness from one."

Nokosi rose an arm and swiped the back of his hand across his eyes a few times. He laughed, though it was both shaky and interrupted with a sniffle.

Once he moved his hand, that thousand-watt smile was still beaming down at her. "I could hear it a hundred times, Kaya. And still, it would mean little next to the singular time heard from the mouth and heart of a cherished friend."

Personal space be damned, because she was getting a hug one way or another!

He curled his long arms around her midsection and lifted her into an impromptu bear hug. He hardly had the strength to actually hurt her with the action, but he did nuzzled his cheek against hers.

"You are a very kind, caring and attentive friend. I thank you, again! I am very happy to have met you, Kaya."

He quickly returned the gesture and then released her. Nokosi bowed low, hair skimming the ground as he did so.

"Do not think anything of it, Kaya. I liked doing such things, especially since you have been having such a rough time recently. With all your headaches and heartaches from all the recent events, sometimes it is better to enjoy the simpler things in life."

Like napping, crafting, fishing and of course...adventure!
