One more reason to keep on going
Irma was gone. Matt was gone. Just about everyone from their universe seemed to have been podded, and Kaya decided, in the wake of this, that she should still make sure the classrooms were kept clean. The place she was staying, Will's room with all of the gymnastics, had been clean after Kaya ad attempted a fairly rigorous workout. She had made sure that Matt's wares were stocked, the common room swept and cleaned, so that when the other came around, they would have a nice place to sit and talk.
First there was Cornelia's room, with all of its earth nation goodness and flowers, making sure that the architecture was carefully polished and everything watered so nothing was neglected. She couldn't help passing by this room and thinking of Toph.
Then she moved onto Hay Lin's room, which never failed to remind her of Aang with all of its wind implements, very much something an airbender would have loved: she would have to make sure to tell both Aang and Nima about it if they had the chance to visit. It always seemed so big and grand and open to her, as she thought the element air should anyhow.
Tarnee's room, while once making her wary with its affiliation for fire, was gotten over once you stepped inside: it was kept in balance with all of the books and the globes that were a representation of energy everywhere. She always loved coming here to expand her mind a bit, and it was a perfect reflection of an intellectual girl Kaya never had the pleasure of meeting.
And then, of course, there was Irma's room. She knew there was an obvious bias here, stepping into the room that reflected her best, with all of its watery element and the ability to swim in and out of the water that surrounded the room. She was cleaning here a little, and then could not help herself: she discarded her clothing, wrapped only in her underclothes and jumped in, allowing the underwater environment to envelop her. Perhaps her favorite thing about this place was how she could still breathe underwater.
She was so entranced, she did not notice anyone coming in.

But something happened, something she had not expected. He had saw something in her words understood she was telling him exactly how she saw him: wise, strong, tempered in a goodness he had never seen before. He was not just some person you could find on the ship randomly: he was here and somehow not, a soul of the ship few bothered to get to know.
And he gave a bashful look Kaya did not expect, one that was endearing, sweet. And while she was going to comment, she saw something else. A genuine look, a smile, one that seemed to brighten the room, make it like it was spun from gold in her heart.
She knew that feeling.
"I'm sorry you don't hear it more often," she said, her voice showing only a very slight quiver. "But its true."

Once he moved his hand, that thousand-watt smile was still beaming down at her. "I could hear it a hundred times, Kaya. And still, it would mean little next to the singular time heard from the mouth and heart of a cherished friend."
Personal space be damned, because she was getting a hug one way or another!
He curled his long arms around her midsection and lifted her into an impromptu bear hug. He hardly had the strength to actually hurt her with the action, but he did nuzzled his cheek against hers.
"You are a very kind, caring and attentive friend. I thank you, again! I am very happy to have met you, Kaya."

And the hug: she welcomed that, feeling her heart dance a little at being near him so quickly, even if it was one that choked her only a little bit. It was still Nokosi, a person she found herself caring for more and more these days.
"You have been those things and more for me too, Nokosi. You've seen me in my less spectacular moods, and have always managed to put a smile on my face. I'm very grateful to have met you."
And to show it, she reached up and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"Do not think anything of it, Kaya. I liked doing such things, especially since you have been having such a rough time recently. With all your headaches and heartaches from all the recent events, sometimes it is better to enjoy the simpler things in life."
Like napping, crafting, fishing and of course...adventure!
And once again, ending their fun!
And with that she led him over to the dorms and the astronomy room to complete the tour of the bus.
