Melting Clock: Quarantine
After Sam Henderson's announcement, the Contagion Containment and Treatment lab was going to get busy. Anyone suspected of being affected by the mysterious affliction would be brought here, and put into one of the large bubbles that would keep any potential contagious diseases in - and the patients themselves. Once in inside, they wouldn't be able to get out again until the Medical staff had cleared them.
And before they could do that, they needed to find out what was causing this - and why.
They had a lot of hard work ahead of them.
[[ooc: Just start your own sub threads under the main threads, guys! And if you're happy to have anyone tag in, put "Open" in the subject line. If you've already got plans for who you're threading with, put "Closed" instead.]]

Re: [open to anyone]
"Perhaps we have," Jeka said. "I recall being part of Security myself, so it's entirely possible that we've run into each other." She tilted her head to the side. "We may not have spoken, though. My memories seem to indicate that I was a different shape on board before."
Re: [open to anyone]
"Hmm. Well, I'm Zouichi. So if we haven't met before, pleased to meet you." He bowed slightly, smiling. "I only joined a few months ago, so I wouldn't be surprised in any case."
Re: [open to anyone]
"Jeka Wynzorr, also known as Sensor," Jeka said, returning the bow. "I've been awake...some time now. It's hard enough to keep track of time when I'm not actually losing it!"
Re: [open to anyone]
Yeah, he hadn't met many superheroes.
Re: [open to anyone]
"It's a codename. Back in my reality, I'm a member of a group called the Legion of Superheroes." She tapped the L-shaped crest on her flight-band with one of her cybernetic fingers. "I'm a mentalist."
Re: [open to anyone]
Re: [open to anyone]
"No, a mentalist manipulates sensory information as perceived by individuals or groups. I suppose that the best way to describe it here is that I can do anything the Sensoriums can do, aside from causing any physical alterations." She made a face. "It does mean that I really am stuck with the slop, though."
Re: [open to anyone]
"You cannot make yourself believe the food is something it isn't?" He frowned. "I'd offer to bring you something else, but I've heard the sterilization procedures for items brought into the bubbles is... not recommended for things you plan to eat."
Re: [open to anyone]
"Stacy can overwhelm my natural resistance to such things if I allow her to," Jeka said, "but it's rarely worth the energy or the resulting headache. And I can't use my abilities on myself."
She tilted her head and gave him the Orandian equivalent to a smile. "Thank you, but it's fine. It's very kind of you to offer, though."
Re: [open to anyone]
Re: [open to anyone]
"Ask away, dear. I'm always happy to talk about the Legion."
Jeka resettled herself on her coils. "The Legion is a group of young people with super-powers who banded together to defend the citizens of the United Planets from extra-ordinary threats and serve as an example of what can be achieved when xenophobia is put aside and we all work together. We were originally based on Earth, but four years after I joined, we constructed an artificial planet in the Zatar Nebula that we called Legion World."
At the third question, she sighs. "There are two members of the Legion currently awake on board besides myself. Superboy is one of them. The other is Brainiac 5, but he is from a different strand of reality than I am -- he's quite different from the Brainy I know. Several more members of my Legion are also on board, but they've been returned to Pod sleep."
Re: [open to anyone]
He frowned a little. "I'm sorry to hear about your friends. But at least the ones that are asleep may awaken again someday."
"So what exactly are these extra-ordinary threats?"
Re: [open to anyone]
"We may be from different times," Jeka said. "I'm from the early thirty-first century, using the Gregorian calendar. But it's entirely possible that we are from very different realities, yes."
She sighed again. "Yes, that's very true. I also hope that some of my friends who've died were rescued by Stacy prior to their deaths. I'd dearly love to see..." She trailed off, pensive. Who? Who had died that she abruptly couldn't remember their death anymore?! "Oh sprock! Whoever it is, I hope Stacy rescued them."
"We plugged a tear in reality once, but we lost about half the Legion doing it. They must have survived though, I remember not being surprised to see Brainy on board when I woke up. Mordru, an evil mystic capable of destroying worlds. We tend to be officially called in for things that the Science Police can't handle on their own."
Re: [open to anyone]
He looked a little startled by Jeka's outburst. 'Sprock'? "I hope they were rescued as well. Perhaps you could ask Superboy for details? Unless, of course, he's also affected by this deaging."
Jeka's universe sounded...confusing. "The Science Police?"
Re: [open to anyone]
"Yes, that certainly seems so," Jeka agreed, wondering a little about what Orando was like in his reality. Had it ever even evolved life? Not to mention Durla and some of the other non-Earth-related worlds...
"Sadly, he's also under the influence of the time-shedding." She gestured toward a particular bubble bathed in red light a little further down. "He may not remember either. Grife, this is irritating!" She pounded a cybernetic fist into the palm of the other hand.
"The Science Police are the major law enforcement agency of the U.P. We worked very closely with them once things got smoothed out -- several Legionnaires originally planned to become Science Police, and a few joined their ranks after they left the Legion."
Re: [open to anyone]
"Ah, a little like 21st century Interpol." He paused. "I'm a little surprised they agreed to work with you; it sounds like the Legion is more of a vigilante group than an officially sanctioned law enforcement agency. Or am I wrong?"
Re: [open to anyone]
"I'm not entirely certain," Jeka answered. "I understand that some sort of problem occurred earlier in the City however, it may just to be sure that he doesn't have a relapse."
She chuckled. "Oh no, the Legion would have never gotten off the ground without official sanction! We worked very closely with the Science Police and had an official liaison to make sure we didn't get in each others' way."
Re: [open to anyone]
"Only one liason? Must have been a lot to handle. But I'm glad your groups could work together so closely. I had very few options when it came to choosing people to work with. Thought I imagine you had conflicts at times?"
Re: [open to anyone]
"He seems fine now, at least," Jeka said. "I just hope he stays that way long enough for Medical to find a cure for this.
"Oh yes, there are alway conflicts in any kind of situation where you have so many people coming together from so many different worlds. But surprisingly, not always the ones you would think would crop up. Imra and Rokk were fast friends from the very beginning, in spite of the fact their home planets had been at war for years. It was quite touching."
Re: [open to anyone]
Zouichi smiled. "A little like the people on this ship? I'm really surprised at how few conflicts there are to defuse, considering how many worlds are represented here."
no subject
"I have absolutely no doubt that they are and that they will," Jeka replied with a nod of her head. She also chuckled a little in appreciation. "Yes, a great deal like that. Life or death situations do have a way of making petty differences seem...well, petty."
no subject
Before he could finish his sentence, his Omnicomm emitted a short trill. He pulled it out, glancing at the screen, then smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry; it appears I'll have to cut this conversation short. It was a pleasure to meet you, Jeka."
no subject
"I'm a giant snake capable of hijacking people's senses and a strict carnivore in a largely vegan society," Jeka said with a laugh. "Very few people don't find me a little unsettling at first. Don't let me keep you dear, but it's been lovely chatting with you. Perhaps we can do it again sometime in the future, once this mess gets cleared up."
no subject
"Ah, no -- the pleasure was all mine. And I'll be sure to look you up again sometime."
With a slight wave and a smile, he left for the exit.
