It's five o'clock somewhere!

It was easy to find the Drunken Dragon Tavern, due to the train, and the fact that a good portion of the crew was familiar with the establishment and could point the way. Kang knew that there were a few already planning on stopping by, and that Kaylee could use the help. He also wanted to get more information on the new people, see who was likely to cause problems (Farseer Ildraniath already had) and who wasn't. There were a few he hoped would show up, as well.

Feeling a little happier than usual, despite the Farseer, he took care of business as usual, being sociable and refilling drinks.

[Open post is very open. Feel free to talk to either Kang or Kaylee, or both, or to threadjack (with permission, of course)!]

"There's an awful lot of people I ain't met yet. I met with the other weres, sure, but they were on their own. Still working my way through meetin' up with everyone about, figuring out what folks can do, all that good shit."

There's a faint sound of amusement from Jamie. "If you're planning on doing that, ye may be some time at it. I've been here around a year, I think, and I've not even met everyone."

"Fair enough, but worth an effort, anyway. At least trying to figure out what kind of tactical support I can expect."

"That would depend on where ye would be fighting, I would say." Looking over Chase, he'd guess the man...er, werewolf...would be a ground fighter, but you never know, do you?

"There's different squadrons for the pilots and the ones that have those mecha-things, and then ye have the Dimension Rangers. We're separate from the others," Jamie continues blithely, not really thinking about the fact that a few minutes ago he was trying to avoid talking about Lord Zedd, and mentioning the Rangers might make that problematic. "And then there's the ones with powers who can fight, and some that don't have powers at all. It's hard to say who you'd wind up with."

He drums his fingers on the bar, thinking for a moment. "Kang could likely give ye an idea on strengths. He used to teach some Warfare training classes, but they've not gone on for some time."

"Thanks for the run-down. Dimensional Rangers, huh? Just out of curiosity, what's that about? As for Kang and training... yeah, we've talked on that some. I'm doing some training already, small unit and commando stuff, some martial arts. Most of my work is urban commando stuff, ground-pounding, stealth ops, that kind'a shit. I can pilot most ground vehicles, but ain't done much flying."

"Oh? That's just what we call our team. I suppose ye could say it's because of us being on Stacy, and how she travels. It's not quite different dimensions." Jamie frowns a little, in a slightly puzzled sort of way. "At least, I don't think. But we agreed on the name."

[identity profile] j-y-d.livejournal.com 2011-04-19 09:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Hey, its ok. Back home we called ourselves the Street Knights. Everything's gotta have some kind'a name, right? Dimensional Rangers works well enough. Who all is in this outfit?"
bonnypiperlad: (puzzled)

Dimension, Dimensional - it's close enough that Jamie doesn't remark on the slightly different version of the name right at the moment. Instead, he starts to answer the question. "Aye, well, there's myself, and K..."

He trails off, looking at Chase with a faintly puzzled look. "Hey, wait. Why would ye want to know that, anyway?"

[identity profile] j-y-d.livejournal.com 2011-04-22 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
He shrugs. "Because we're at war for our worlds. I know it ain't the case for everyone, but for me, that's a real familiar situation. If there's organized units around that know how to work together, that's useful information. Especially if any of 'em are in my training classes so I can figure out what people can do. I ain't the tactician my best friend is, but I ain't a total slouch either."

It does make sense, and Jamie's never been very good at keeping secrets anyway, so he blithely answers the question. Sort of. "Well, it's just the five of us that fight together - well, six, with Billy. I'm not sure if that would count as a big enough unit for ye."

He hasn't quite pieced together that Chase is the same Chase who replied to Billy's post warning everyone about Lord Zedd, just yet.

"I ain't looking to sign up or nothing, you guys got your thing going, and no idea if your tactics and mine match up. Just trying to figure out, when we all take the field, who on my side knows how to fight together, s'all. Billy... big name in engineering, right?"
bonnypiperlad: (So...)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2011-04-26 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Aye, that's him. He's the one who brought us together in the first place."

[identity profile] j-y-d.livejournal.com 2011-04-26 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Ok, I'm pretty sure I'll run into him sooner or later then. Not entirely positive how much time I'll be spending in engineering, but some. What's your unit specialty?"
