It's five o'clock somewhere!

It was easy to find the Drunken Dragon Tavern, due to the train, and the fact that a good portion of the crew was familiar with the establishment and could point the way. Kang knew that there were a few already planning on stopping by, and that Kaylee could use the help. He also wanted to get more information on the new people, see who was likely to cause problems (Farseer Ildraniath already had) and who wasn't. There were a few he hoped would show up, as well.

Feeling a little happier than usual, despite the Farseer, he took care of business as usual, being sociable and refilling drinks.

The Chancellor nods in a very humanesque 'Ah. Gotcha' way. When you've been doing a certain type of body language for four centuries, it grows on you. "Interesting. For ours, it was merely the best point of reference they had. We were 'dragons,' the Saernai 'demons.'" He drinks his juice.

Kang had been raised by humans, so he knew their body language fairly well. He cocked his head to one side slightly, "You didn't have a name for yourselves already?"

"We did not. We knew who were were. We knew what we were talking about. The enemy calls us Ternaui, the humans call us Dragons."

Strange. It wasn't the strangest thing Kang had ever heard, though. "There is a slight resemblance to dragons, but it's a bit of a stretch."

Another shrug. "They also considered it reasonable to name a horse after a prominent supernatural jailer, so it is not always easy to follow their logic in such things. Wonderful people, however. I miss them."

"Horses tend to get interesting names, I've noticed. I never spent much time around them; they don't like me much," Kang said. "Hopefully one of them will wake up so you're not alone here."

"Here's hoping, thank you. Are any of your compatriots here?"

Kang smiled slightly, "Just one. Lord Bight, from Sanction. I never got the chance to speak with him back on Krynn, but I'd wanted to. It's not the same as having my mate and hatchlings, or even another draconian, but it does make me feel somewhat better."

"Indeed, nothing replaces children. But it is good to hear taht there is someone familiar."

"You speak as if you have children of your own. Do you?" Kang asked, curious. He had no idea how Chancellor's species worked.

"Several human daughters. Once we found a place to settle, the humans soon had more children than they could parent, so we stepped in. Very much illegal by the standards of galactic civilization, but since we wish to bring down galactic civilization, that was really only encouragement. I was with my daughter Veronica when... this happened."

Kang smiled, wistfully, "Adopted, then. There's a chance she's somewhere in the pods, you know. And your other daughters. I won't lie to you and say it's a guarantee, though."

He nods slowly. "The reassurance -- and the candor -- are appreciated.

"It's something I've said for years. Never give up hope. Once you give it up, you've already lost," Kang's wings rustled, and he took another drink from his mug.

"Yes. Waiting and hoping has served us well, too. But sometimes there must come an end to waiting." He drinks his juice. "Is there opportunity to get airborne here? Not a person concern, of course, only the reproductive sexes have wings."

"Yes, everything ends eventually. That's life." Kang nodded, "There's more than enough room here in the City, and there's the Sensoriums. I can't fly, but I've seen others in the air."

He was engineered with wings but not capable of flight? That seems odd to the Chancellor, but it would be rude to say so.

"Thank you for the clarification."

Kang picked up on that slightly puzzled look, and venturing a guess on what it was for, flared his wings slightly and brought them back in, "Most of us have wings, but only sivaks, the ones from silvers, can actually fly. That's just how the magic worked." Chancellor wasn't the only one that thought it was strange to make a race with wings and not give them flight.

"Ahh. What species was behind researching this magic, if you do not mind the question?"

"Humans, mostly, with some help from a dragon or two and a god," Kang said wryly. He was still a bit sore at Takhisis, and there was no love lost between draconians and the Dragonarmies.
