This Old House, Winchester Style [Open]
The way things kept going with frequent visitors, and how their little family was increasing all the time now... Well the place was just getting too small. So Dean had started working on expanding out some rooms. He went over some plans with Xander recently. (Following a stern talking to about his brother, and how weird the idea of having a possible brother in law now was to all parties. A few threats were made and noted before he finally tabled the topic for the time being.)
The sound of hammering could easily be heard in their part of the city. Furthermore, between the humid temperature of the ship, and exertion from the construction project, Dean was now working shirtless with jeans and boots.

"Didn't know you knew anything about construction. Need a hand?"
no subject
"Yeah, grab a hammer, and you shore that support over there," he pointed to another corner where there were a few nails already placed in a support beam, but it needed more anchoring.

Plus it gave him something else to focus on.

He looked around for blueprints out of habit to see what the next step was. "I heard about you and Kaylee getting married down on that planet. I kept an eye out for you inside the city, but I suppose we must not have been in the same area at the same time. I wanted to say congratulations."
no subject
Dean grinned, "Uh yeah we were in the hut for a lot of it, but thanks. Heard you got hitched with somebody too." Brief sympathetic smirk at who he heard through the grapevine that Kang got stuck with.
no subject
"...we're not counting ours off-planet. It was a way to get into the city, nothing else."
no subject
He rubbed a hand over the top of his head.
"The thing is? Yeah it was just a freaking light show and chanting and shit. But wouldn't mind the real deal now."
no subject
He shook his head and began gathering supplies for the next step. "Are you thinking about proposing to her?"

Jake wouldn't want him to do otherwise.
And that hammering definitely pricked Marco's attention. He trotted closer, trying to get a better look. The fact that Dean seemed to be building extra rooms made Marco suspicious - why would they need more? Who else was going to be moving in with them?
Eventually, after watching for a few minutes and coming no closer to figuring out what the hell Dean was building, Marco gave up and decided to ask directly. Hey, with Iniss now knowing that he could morph (Marco took a moment to snicker mentally to himself about how long that had taken), Marco was pretty sure that Dean and Sam would know too.
<Dude, what the hell are you doing building extra rooms when you could just wonder around for a while and find a free mansion?> he asked eventually.
no subject
He then turned around, and blinked at the dog. Yeah, he heard Marco can morph. Still hard not to think of him as a shapeshifter. Though at least he's nothing like the ones from his world.
"Because this is our home, and we moved too many times as kids." So partly he's staying here since it's the first real home he and Sam have had since Lawrence, Kansas. That and he remembered how upset Sam got in his younger years of always being on the road. Dad's hunting prevented them from settling in any town too long.
no subject
He trotted closer, coming to see down in front of Dean's feet and look up at him. <you have fun with that then. Maybe sometime in the next decade or so, you'll actually finish it,> Marco scoffed. <Why the hell do you even need more rooms anyway?>
no subject
"Because Tom's got a room here now too. Kaylee and I are together. Kang and Rhiow often stop by. Only a matter of time before more of Kaylee's shipmate friends come for visit. We're going to need the extra space."

"Look I hate Iniss, same as you. But I'm not turning Tom away. Better to keep an eye on the asshole, and he doesn't bother Tom as much with us around."

"That'll be one dead slug, and we got plenty of salt."

Bottle of water in her hand, Kaylee slid carefully up between Dean and the boards he was working on ripping out. "Gonna keel over if you don't get some water in you 'stead of on."
no subject
He turned around, and grinned at Kaylee's arrival. Dean wiped his arm over his forehead, and set his work aside for the moment. Probably about time for a break anyway.
"Hey baby, thanks." He reached out for the offered drink.
no subject
Kaylee handed the bottle over with a grin, and stepped over to see how the remodel was going. "How's it been? Seems like she's comin' along pretty nice. Quicker than thought, too."
no subject
"Just getting started, trying to set up the framework to get another bedroom or two. Probably another bathroom too."
"How's your girl? Figured you'd been pretty busy looking her over, or in Engineering." He did miss hearing from her.
no subject
Running a hand over part of the wall, Kaylee smiled at Dean over her shoulder. "She's shiny. Got a lot of work done on her since we got back. She's had a good tune-up, just needs a bit of time 'n room to run one of these days." Hopefully, it would be some day soon. Serenity and Kaylee had been cooped up on Stacy a lot longer than she liked without a good fly around.
no subject
"Good, checked on the Impala and she's purring like a kitten." He then set down the bottle of water, and came closer to her from behind to kiss her shoulder.
"How's my girl?" Of course meaning Kaylee this time, as opposed to his first girl, the car.
no subject
"Wouldn't expect any less, the way you take care of her." It didn't take much more than that kiss to get Kaylee to settle back against Dean, hands reaching for his. "And 'M alright, I think. Workin' more and more, it seems, but it's all worth it if we're actually gettin' to a place where we'll have half a fightin' chance."
no subject
"Sounds like most of the hotel rooms we stayed in though."
He leaned down to nuzzle her ear, and kiss the lobe, his fingers lacing with hers.
"We got a good crew, we'll get there. And just all right?"
