Splish Splash, I was taking a bath (Bendy timed to just after the weddings)

Not everybody wanted to go to the consummation huts straight off the bat. Which meant if they wanted to get cleaned up, they needed another spot to do so in.

Luckily, the city had just such a place: the great public baths. They were rather immense. And open, since the Moai didn't have much in the way of nudity taboos. There were private stalls around the edges, though, for those who weren't quite so open. Or just wanted to do a little 'private' bathing (wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more). It's traditional for the baths to take a while. After all, pretty much everybody here has just gotten married! Enjoy!

(Oh. And your clothes are going to disappear. Nothing personal, the Rapa Nui just want to make sure you have something clean and dry to change into when you've bathed. Isn't that nice?)

((Yep, there are public baths in the city. Have fun with it! And Jono's still outside the city. I just want to be able to get notifs after I ask for no notifications on the main post.))

"Well, that makes sense," replied Hoshi, knowing what it was like to look after those you cared about.

"Yeah, he is. He's very nice to help me with a few things. I think you and him would get along."

Thank goodness Mindy couldn't hear what set was thinking: she was definitely not ready to admit that she cared about Sasami. Hell, even Sasami didn't really know that, and she wanted to keep it that way.

"Well, I dunno about that. Me and nice people aren't really getting along lately."

[identity profile] radiantcourage.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
There was a way with words and phrasing and Hoshi had a feeling that Mindy was just masking them.

"Well, I've been perceived as nice and you're getting along with me."

Hey give her some credit Hoshi: you two hadn't really gotten to know each other well enough yet.

"You'll know better, trust me. I drive your friend Sasami up the wall. Just ask her when you see her."

[identity profile] radiantcourage.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Primarily, Hoshi was giving her the benefit of the doubt. She had a bit of an attitude around her age.

"Oh, I can imagine how much fun you've had with that."

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah she did.

"Fun?" She looked scandalized. "Oh yeah, its a barrel of luaghs, getting yelled at whenever I say something that's questionable to her, or get called foul mouthed or whatever. The icing was getting my ass kicked by possessed Sasami and not being able to do anything BECAUSE she was possessed. Oh yeah, I'm having fun."

She was, really, but no one had to know that. Besides, Sasami was going to continue to see her as a threat, why change that?

Hoshi's lips pursed in thought as her long blond hair danced in the water. She thought about what to say to Mindy to hopefully make her feel better.

"Well, you're still a kid and all. It's expected for kids to have temperament issues, especially when they're thrust upon something like we're in right now. I'd say you're just being you and that's that."

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2011-02-16 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Mindy definitely didn't follow her reasoning. What did being a kid have to do with her being herself?

"Uh, that's how I usually am," Mindy said. "I just deal with my problems. I can be evasive, sure, but I mean think about it: how many kids do you know act like I do?

[identity profile] radiantcourage.livejournal.com 2011-02-16 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not very many. It's a quirk that makes you unique," Hoshi said, an approving grin on her face at the same time.

She shrugged, then threw herself underwater a moment and came back out, shaking her head to get all the excess water off. "It also makes it difficult to adjust, like, anywhere. It's kinda funny when you think about it: you're on this ship with all these aliens and heroes and stuff, but you still sort of have to act in an acceptable earth/human-like way, you know?"

[identity profile] radiantcourage.livejournal.com 2011-02-16 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I hear you there." Although she had been raised pretty well, Hoshi was still acting like her same old self as if she never left home in the first place.

"Kinda weird, when you really think about it."

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2011-02-16 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's why I think the whole idea of councils and captains is kinda stupid. I get why they're there, of course: I mean, people freak out if there's no organization and order or whatever. But come on: we have a ship with what, zombies, mutants, trolls, ghosts, projections, demons...how the hell can you have a council that's going to address all of their concerns? It's impossible."

She put her hair up, starting to slowly wring it out. "And I just land here, and I'm supposed to act like a kid even though I was raised to act...well, not like one, we'll say. Who's representing me?"

[identity profile] radiantcourage.livejournal.com 2011-02-16 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Hoshi had her own reason for not running for council when it was announced. She assumed that since she was so new, it would be considered her showboating way too early. But, Mindy really did have a solid point. All voices needed to be heard, especially those who were different like her.

"Tell you what. I know I don't have a position on the council, but I am a captain of my own beyblading team and always dedicate myself to listen to other people, regardless if opinions differ in between the people. So, if I get to know those on the council and stuff and they ask for topics to talk about, want me to talk to them myself so that you're sure your voice is heard?"

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2011-02-16 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. Maybe she wasn't as horrible at making friends as she thought. Well, either that or Hoshi was just more chill than most people. If this was the kind of person that was going to be looking after Sasami, then that girl had good bodyguards, that was for sure. Well, Hit Girl might even be looking out for her, IF she felt like it.

"Thanks, but if I have to do that to get my voice heard to those guys, maybe they don't deserve that position in the first place, and if that's the case, it's kinda pointless for me to be listening to them at all, ya know? I mean, its not like I had enough time to get to know these people to begin with. I don't even really know anything about the captain."
