Splish Splash, I was taking a bath (Bendy timed to just after the weddings)

Not everybody wanted to go to the consummation huts straight off the bat. Which meant if they wanted to get cleaned up, they needed another spot to do so in.

Luckily, the city had just such a place: the great public baths. They were rather immense. And open, since the Moai didn't have much in the way of nudity taboos. There were private stalls around the edges, though, for those who weren't quite so open. Or just wanted to do a little 'private' bathing (wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more). It's traditional for the baths to take a while. After all, pretty much everybody here has just gotten married! Enjoy!

(Oh. And your clothes are going to disappear. Nothing personal, the Rapa Nui just want to make sure you have something clean and dry to change into when you've bathed. Isn't that nice?)

((Yep, there are public baths in the city. Have fun with it! And Jono's still outside the city. I just want to be able to get notifs after I ask for no notifications on the main post.))

Kang quirked an eyebrow ridge at Sam from his spot near the water, where he was completely nude as well and cleaning paint off of his scales with a damp cloth. Nudity was a nonissue to him. "So who'd you end up marrying to get into this city?"

Kang was, somehow, a lot easier to deal with, considering the whole nudity thing. Given that the scales still looked like he was wearing something.

Sure, Kang wasn't human and the scales meant he was as naked as everybody else, but it didn't seem that way to Sam's brain and that was where he was leaving it.

Glancing around, he pointed out a young man with black hair and an eyepatch. "Name's Xander. Good guy. He knows about the stuff that goes bump in the night, too."

It wasn't as if Sam would be able to see anything anyways, with Kang being a reptile. He scrubbed at his arm, then blinked and looked at the man, "Xander? I would think you'd try to pair up with one of the women if you could. Almost all of these damn marriages are fake, but still."

"I just sort of grabbed the first person who was dressed in the same way." Sam gave half a grin. "Also, there were a lot of...very young girls around. I don't know about you, but that kind of skeeves me."

"...I don't blame you, in that case," Kang's snout wrinkled slightly. "Better to be fake married to another male than a child."

Not that he had problems with homosexuality, of course. It was just that he was most definitely straight.

And so was Sam. Erm...

"It's been a bit awkward, yeah. But it's not that bad so far." Sam thought for a moment. "Though we did pretty much come straight here from the ceremony."
governorkang: (Well shit / Disgusting)

[personal profile] governorkang 2011-02-14 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Kang snorted, dipping the cloth in the water again and scrubbing at a particularly stubborn bit of paint that had gotten underneath a few scales. No wonder it itched so much. "I got stuck with Karis. It hasn't been horrible for us yet, either, but I'm still not looking forward to having to share a hut with her tonight."

[personal profile] chosenfamily 2011-02-14 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Karis...which one is she?" Sam had managed to miss some of the new people. Then again, Karis might well have been one of those people that he'd been avoiding, for various purposes.

He glanced at Kang. "Hmm. How do you think they'd react if I asked for a second bed in the hut?"

"Undead, from a world somewhat like mine," Kang said dryly, tail twitching. Their conversations so far had been... interesting, to say the least, given their differing opinions on a lot of things.

"I'm just planning on sleeping on the floor. Wouldn't be the first time."

"Undead? Like a zombie?" Sam's eyebrows popped up to his bangs. In his head, he was remembering what you did to a zombie. Stake them into their grave and remove the head. The grave was...harder to come by on the ship, but if necessary...

He shook himself. "True enough. Floors aren't that bad."

Kang nodded, twisting a bit to get at a spot on his wing with a frown. How the hell had that gotten there? He'd purposely only put the paint on his arms and chest, for easier removal. "If you think a zombie being a member of this crew is weird, you haven't been paying any attention."

And how the hell had that streak of pinkish-orange gotten on his back, between his wings?

"To be fair? Most of the time, when I meet a zombie, they're kind of homicidal maniacs. No matter what they'd been like in life." Sam watched Kang, then grinned. "Need some help there?"
governorkang: (What / This is stupid)

[personal profile] governorkang 2011-02-14 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Kang shrugged, "I didn't deal with undead much on my world. Fortunately, I only ever ran into the ones that were annoyingly difficult to keep in pieces instead of the ones that could kill me with a word if they wanted." He counted himself very lucky he'd only ever seen Lord Soth from a distance. He'd heard the stories.

He cursed in Nerakese and held out the cloth with a scowl. The streak ran almost parallel with an old scar that was only an inch away from his spine. "...someone must have brushed past me when their paint was still wet."

"That was sort of the thing that Hunters did back home. The things that most people can't deal with, we do." Sam shrugged, frowning. "Okay, yeah, that's annoying and I'm glad I never ran into any of those second, either." Shit, the stuff he ran into was bad enough.

Sam looked at the paint, pausing at the scar and then back again. "Maybe so. Or somebody thought it was a cute little game." He ran the cloth in the water, getting it wet before he went to work on the streak. And not mentioning the scar unless Kang did.

"Which means anything that wasn't human, right?" Kang asked, quirking an eyebrow ridge. "I think Dean told me once that most people on your world weren't aware of the nasties out there."

Most of the time, he forgot the scar was even there. He knew it was a large one, though, from Fonrar's reaction when she'd first seen it, and he also knew that there was no way Sam could miss it. "Some bastard goblin got me with a sword a few years back."

"Yeah, he was right. It's very, very rare to find anybody who believes in the boogie men that we go after." Sam worked over the scales slowly. "Ghosts, shapeshifters, rakshasas. Things that are only legends to most everybody in the world." Demons. Angels. The list went on.

His motions stuttered a moment as Kang spoke. "I have no idea how your internal organs are situated, but that probably wasn't a wound you came back from quickly."

"Sounds like it gets tiring constantly telling people they really saw what they did." Kang rolled his eyes.

"We heal a bit more quickly than humans, and it missed the important parts. Still hurt like hell for a while, though," his wings rustled.
chosenfamily: (Default)

[personal profile] chosenfamily 2011-02-15 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Half the time, you don't bother telling them. Especially if you can manage without people finding out about it." Sam shook his head. "Most people don't actually want to know about it. They...feel better without knowing. And maybe it's better than they don't realize."

He reached back, rubbing the small of his back and the scar there before going back to getting the paint off. "Useful. Though, yeah, something like that will hurt for a good while."

Kang quirked an eyebrow ridge and looked back at Sam, "I don't know if that makes it easier or more complicated." He didn't understand how someone could willfully not want to know about a very real danger.

"Probably because of our relation to dragons." He said dryly, shifting a bit. "...the paint's being stubborn, isn't it? I think some of it got under the scales."

"General public? Easier, usually. Law enforcement?" Kang could probably understand the sorts of issues the boys might run into, dealing with stuff that nobody wanted to believe in.

He grimaced. "Yeah, it's stubborn. Umm. How do you get under the scales? If that's not too personal."
governorkang: (Well shit / Disgusting)

[personal profile] governorkang 2011-02-15 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Naturally. They think they've got things under control, and don't like it when they find out the truth," Kang snorted.

"I can move them some, but not much, and I can't see. You'll have to dig a little." It probably would have been easier to remove if he were actually in the water.

Sam hmmed softly. "No, they generally don't. And cops are...generally the kind of people who prefer to believe what they can see. There's not a lot of place in a cop's mind for ghosts or a demon did it."

He quirked a grin. "Or," he suggested, "you could sit down in the water and let it soak for a bit. It's just fruit, so it should be pretty water soluble. And water can get in under your scales easier than the washcloth can."

"You two probably got really good at lying, as long as you've been Hunters."

Kang put his hand in the water for a few moments and frowned, "...wouldn't be too comfortable for me to stay in for very long. It's hot."

Sam snorted and nodded. "It's not really anything to brag about, I know, but we're probably two of the best liars you'll come across." It wasn't really bragging, either. Sam hated it, but it was a skill.

Sam looked at the water, then back to Kang. "Is there a warm pool here? That might do it. Either that or you'll have to wait until we get back to the ship for the sonic showers."
