The Return Trip
For the most part, the groups reconvene without incident. There are some minor injuries and a few are battered, but overall, everyone is fine. At least barring poor Leela, her arm swollen, her breathing still troubled. Fortunately, when she's brought back aboard Obs Deck, Stacy provides something if a medical cot out of the floor, that she can be secured to by her caregivers for the return trip, as well as an oxygen mask.
However, as they all meet up again and climb back on board, there is one group that's a little late...

The captain's last message was played back for the group.
"These Ohm, there's got to be a way to find out more about them--"

The first members of Team 6 topped the kill running as fast as they could. Each were out of breath, that used it, and on the verge of collapsing from the right back from the city. So much for this all being a piece of cake.
"On the ship! On the ship! On the ship! On the ship!" Mal could be heard screaming as he ran, sometimes turning to fire blindly at whatever it was behind them.
What crested the top of the hill was something large, red, and ugly. It's mouth quartered open showing it to be full of sharp teeth in thousands of rows as a whip like tongue lolled about as he gave another ear piercing shriek. Spider like legs moved faster than what Mal's own two could do only just barely keeping it ten feet infront of it. Jumping over a rock he barely missed his footing sending him into a rolling tumble toward the ground before he was back on his feet. "Bèn tiānshēng de yìduī ròu- āiyā, wŏmen wánle! MOVE GORRAM IT!"

"Shit... everyone on board and strap yourselves in, prepare for an emergency launch!"
Not that Leon was even obeying his own orders. He was heading away from the ship, a flash grenade in his hand. Not that it would do much damage, but if he could land one between Mal's group and ...whateverthehell that was chasing them, the flash might stun the creature long enough to buy them a few extra seconds.

"Fascinating. It is almost as if I recognise this creature--"
Before he can finish his thought, one of the more together members of the crew grabs him by the scruff of his plantsuit and hauls him into the obs deck.

"Everyone YOU HEARD THE MAN! ON BOARD!" he shouts, and considering he's the Chief? Dude has some lungs on him.
If you're not moving, crew, he's gonna MAKE you move. You better believe it.

She had one single super missile and she was hopping to save it for something a little bigger, but the monster was making it's way to the ship too quickly for her to take it down with just her beam. She could stay in fight it but she wasn't going to intentionally endanger the rest of the crews.
Samus readied herself, steadying her cannon with her left arm. She took aim and waited for just the right moment. As soon as it opened it's mouth, she sent a super missile barreling into it's head.

In fact, it kept getting louder and louder and...
Oh. Shit.
Apparently, that creature was not alone. Wave after wave of those creatures, a virtual sea of red hides and sharp teeth, started pouring over the hill.
Ok, yeah, he did not have that many grenades. And he doubted that Samus had that many missiles. Time to haul ass.
"C'mon, cmon, C'MON!" He waved Team 6 forward, only slowing his sprint long enough to grab onto one of their lagging members and drag them along to the ship.

no existentbutt on the ship the minute things went south. Maybe he was trying to stay out the way since he was unarmed. Maybe nearly getting Leela killed had made him more cooperative. Or maybe he was just saving his own hide. Who knows? Either way, he quickly boarded the Obs Deck and immediately began looking for something to hold on to during take off.no subject

She holds her hand out and sends a large telekinetic push toward the creatures, "Hurry!" She yells. "Everyone on the ship now!!"

GET IN THE VAN"You heard her!"
Like Leon, Cybil's dragging people through, doing a headcount at an absolutely insane speed.
Before long, she's pretty sure she's got everyone--wait. One's missing.
Possibly.
She has to check.
"Ninja kid, you on board?"

"Jean, Leon, get in here! We've got 'em all!"

"Is everyone OK?" she asks, looking around at the rest of the crew.

"Her condition's stable," he announces. It's one less thing to be waiting on before they leave. "She should be fine for the return trip. I'll remain here to monitor her though, just to be safe."
Of course, that was assuming they got off the ground before he suddenly found he had other things to worry about...

"Stacy, get us out of here!"

Needless to say the captain of Serenity managed to skid to a halt not far from the entrance thanks to a set of chairs and quite possibly a table. "Move. Now. I don't feel like bein' a gorram appetizer!"

She leans over Leela and carefully takes her wrist between her fingers, quickly taking her pulse. "What happened to her?" she demands.

And more effectively than you could, he wants to add, but it should be obvious enough from his voice and the rather pointed way he's watching the holographic display projecting from his forearm - much more effective than archaic manual measures. He realises he shouldn't be so defensive, but he's used to being the emergency medic for the Legion, so having others around attempting to do the same puts him on edge.

He doesn't relax once they're all in, though. Because those things out there have a hell of a lot of teeth. "Any time now, Stacy."

She eyes him, almost daring him to push her on this one. "I'm sure between the two of us she'll be more than fine. Don't you agree?"
B5 now's not the time to be pushing the annoyed telepath....
What do they teach kids these days?no subject
"If you say so," he says neutrally, but it wouldn't take a telepath to detect his opinion on that either. To him it's simply a matter of having the better equipment for the job, and it's hard to beat the guy who can make most of the equipment needed out of his own body.

There was a slight shudder as they lifted off and the return trip was much the same as the trip down as far the gravity cutting out--but this time, it was with an injured crew-mate and a hell of a lot of new questions.
