Strange Visitors

||Mission complete,|| Stacy's voice rang out through the ship. ||Obs deck returning.||

The mission was a success, and so the away team returned, and the Obs Deck was back in it's proper place.

But, this time, they came back with a few more visitors.

Among the returning crew members stood three strange aliens. There was the ever-dour Revus Lod, the energetic Ippli, and the stoic Commander Rahk.

The Lensmen commander looked around at his surroundings, his expression rather inscrutable at the moment.

Anyone want to say hi to the new arrivals?

Jamie decided he wanted to see the new arrivals for himself, and slipped into the Obs Deck only a little behind some of the others. Conscious of the fact there were quite a lot of people who should be officially greeting the visitors, he opted to move himself off to the side and stay out of the way. Thumbs tucked behind the belt holding his sporran in place, he settled into a comfortable position from which to watch the room and the three strange aliens.

"Of all the times for the Doctor to have gone back to the pods," he muttered to himself after a bit, not realizing he'd spoken aloud. "He'd love this."

Yeah. Seems like it'd be 'is speed.

Jono was still looking a bit pale and drawn. He hadn't been around much since the day of Punishment. But the new people had drawn him out, piquing his interest. Different from what I'm used t' when it comes t' aliens, though. Mos'ly met Shi'ar an' Kree back home. Skrulls if you were real unlucky.

Hearing Jono's 'voice', Jamie turned slightly towards the other man, then nodded in agreement.

"Aye. Although the one looks a wee bit like an Ice Warrior, if ye squint." To be fair, Commander Rahk is rather more serpentine in appearance than the warrior Martians, but it's the closest race Jamie can come up with to use for comparison. It works in his head, and that's all he really needs right at the moment. Jono's statement, though...that's brought up a whole new set of questions.

"Why would it be that unlucky if ye met a skull? Usually they just lie there. Well...unless you've run into a spirit that decides it wants to throw one at ye out of spite."

[identity profile] psi-flames.livejournal.com 2010-12-01 12:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Jono tilted his head, looking at the one pointed out. Same sorta structure, I s'pose, but jus' with scales rather 'an ice. Actually, that one looked like ice would be very low on his list of favorite things.

The question got an amused sound from Jono as he shook his head. Skrull. S-K-R-U-Double L. With it came an image of a green-skinned female (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Queenveranke.jpg) with a very odd chin and pointed ears. They're shapeshifters. So means you never know when you might be hangin' out with 'em. They tend t' be pretty warlike, too.

"Well, and no legs," Jamie added. That part was definitely different - and he would also agree that the commander doesn't look to be the type that would be fond of the cold.

Then again, the image of the Skrull was also different, and Jamie looked very surprised for a moment. He's still not very used to that aspect of telepathy. "Oh!"

After he had a moment to consider things, however, he nodded. "Aye. They sound very dangerous." Having that particular ability and those war-like tendencies is a rather deadly combination, and he's glad that there don't seem to be any aboard Stacy. At least, none that he knows of right now - and he'll just keep it that way for the time being.

"What about the other two ye mentioned? The Kree and the Shee-ar? Are they the same way?"

[identity profile] psi-flames.livejournal.com 2010-12-03 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Kree're like humans, Jono says, 'cept a lot of 'em got blue skin. An' they can't breathe the atmosphere. Not enough nitrogen. You get some of 'em what got paler skin, so they blend in with humans better, though. Big scientific an' military race. Mos'ly clones these days, I think. He couldn't actually remember. Time to look stuff up on Stacy's banks.

Shi'ar are...well, they're kinda descended from birds. Jono raised an eyebrow at that, flicking through his memories before showing Jamie one of the females (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Xdeathbirdlee.jpg). Got feathers fer hair. Most of 'em don' have wings anymore, but you get one every once in a while. Mos'ly, they're jus' as nasty as the Kree an' Skrulls are, but mos' of the time they manage t' keep it 'tween themselves an' not bring Earth into it. An' sometimes, one of 'em just 'as t' take a shot. He shook his head. Still, they got a lot of tech advances that're pretty useful. Professor Xavier -- he's the one what runs the school I went to -- he's sort of in love with their empress. An' so he's got access to some of it.

Jamie raised his eyebrows as well. "Birds?" But, sure enough, there's the image, and he has to agree that the woman does look at least somewhat bird-like. Although he'd not care to run into her if he could avoid it, as she looked a wee bit dangerous, too.

"Oh, so you'd not particularly want to run into any of them, from what ye are saying."

He shifted his weight from one leg to the other - not really out of any inherent restless, but just because it felt a little more comfortable. "I don't think ye mentioned this school before, either, have ye?"

Each of 'em got their decent folk. But, as a rule, no, y' really wouldn' wanna. And Jono agrees. Then again, anybody called 'Deathbird' should probably be avoided at all costs as a rule.

Haven't? He blinked, then shook his head. Xavier runs a school fer people like me. An' Julian an' Sofia. Kids what got powers through a genetic quirk, mainly. When I went, was only a small number of kids what were invited. By the time Julian an' Sofia an' their class came along, the school was pretty much open t' the public. Main idea was t' teach us how t' control our powers, much as they could be. Make it easier t' live in the world.

"Well, ye mentioned Professor Xavier, and Cerebro on that mission, but we'd not had the chance to talk more at the time." Jamie admitted, then looked over at Julian with a rather curious expression as something occurred to him. "Genetic...oh! Is that what ye meant by mutant?"

He really should have asked ages and ages ago, to be fair, but what with everything that's happened on the ship since - he'd completely forgot about it until now. And he figured they could still talk and watch the new arrivals at the same time.

[identity profile] psi-flames.livejournal.com 2010-12-05 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
The corners of Jono's eyes turned upward in a smile. Aye, that's what I mean by mutant. And maybe he should have, but Jono's not exactly the easiest guy to get to talk sometimes. Even when he's in the room. Cerebro's a...machine, back in me world. It amplifies telepathic powers. Might be useful 'gainst the Ohm Nodes, but we ain't got one. An' I don't know enough about it t' see if the Sensoriums can make one.

It was probably for the best, really. But it was also kind of annoying in its own right.
bonnypiperlad: (So...)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2010-12-06 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
"Aye, that could be helpful," Jamie said, able to recognize the possibilities even if he doesn't completely understand how something like that would work. He'll just go with the idea that it would boost things somehow and not worry about that part too much.

"Well, maybe Professor Xavier will wake up sometime. Or maybe these visitors know something that'd be useful in fighting the Ohm."

[identity profile] psi-flames.livejournal.com 2010-12-07 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Hell, Jono had no idea how it worked, only that it did. Professor Xavier seemed to understand and that was enough for Jono. 'At's what I think. Anythin' what could give us any sorta advantage would be good. It might not even be an advantage, but the first time it was used, it might be something. Enough to get a leg up.

Jono glanced at the visitors, the corners of his eyes tugged downward. Might jus' be me bein' paranoid, but... It all seemed a little convenient to him.
bonnypiperlad: (solemn)

Jamie folded his arms against his chest and nodded, looking at the arrivals a touch warily. "Aye. We go to fight this splinter group and they just happen to show up. That's very handy, if ye ask me."

He's not entirely sure he trusted this sudden appearance by the strangers. Still...

"They must have had something about their story that checked out, though, or the Captain wouldn't have let them come aboard."

[identity profile] psi-flames.livejournal.com 2010-12-08 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Jono makes a considering noise, watching them move amongst the crew. Like I said. Might jus' be me bein' paranoid. He just knew he didn't particularly like it.
bonnypiperlad: (Riiight.)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2010-12-09 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Maybe so, but it'd not hurt to keep an eye on them, I think." It'd do no real harm, and, well...if something did happen they'd at least have an idea.

"Unless ye have a better idea?"
