It didn't take long for Jayne to acquaint himself with the Drunken Dragon. No in fact from the moment Kaylee told him about it, fate conspired to move him there as swiftly as possible.
Because a drunk Jayne, was a tolerable Jayne...usually.
Drinking deep from his beer he hummed a little song under his breath that would be familiar to the crew of Serenity but likely no one else. In his intoxicated state he even mumbled a few of the words as he scanned the area to see who was about.
"The hero of canton the man they call...meeeeee."

Dean then tilted his head at that, "Shiny, Kaylee likes to say that one all the time. You know her?"

"Yeah, on the Serenity. She's a beautiful ship, beautiful mechanic too." Hmm, curious idle smile to his face for a moment, thinking of Kaylee.
Moment done, he studied him again, "Can't be Mal... Jayne, right? I'm Dean. Man bet she's tickled to have some of you guys awake and around."

"Uh yeah, Simon was here. I think he got grabbed back though. I know there was a bit of a thing for a while." But Simon hadn't really stepped up, and Dean just didn't expect to fall in head over heels for the sunny mechanic. But he sure did.

"Yeah, so what? I'm awesome, she's awesome. It's all good. You know how rare it is to find somebody like that who's that cute AND good with engines too? And I know a lot about engines myself."

"Hell, I know that better than anybody. Not like I give a shit. Just be good to enjoy it as long as we can."
Everybody he loves leaves, he knew it. Nothing was gonna change that. Especially here.

He then grinned a little more, "That reminds me, anybody tell ya about the beer tree in hyrdroponics yet? It's a freaking awesome metal beer tree."
no subject
"What?"
The idea...it was too glorious for his mind to process. A tree...that could produce beer? He was no genius but he was positive that Beer did not occur naturally in nature.
"You're full of shit." He accused hoping he was wrong.

"Not about this man. Gotta be seen to believed I know."

Dean downed his own beer, and got up, wavering only a little.

Maybe this guy wasn't so bad after all. "Shiny, let's go shoot stuff."

"Don't ye usually put the hero's name in there somewhere?"

He looks over the other man thoughtfully for a moment. That accent sounds somewhat familiar, but he can't quite place it yet. "Canton, ye said? I've not heard of that place before. Ye must have done something good if ye got a song out of it, though."
And a beer, as Jamie casually slides his untouched ale over towards Jayne. He's thinking that maybe drinking it himself might not be a good idea right about now, just in case things degenerate.

He's rather tempted to throw 'pirate' into the mix, but he's not sure that might not be taken the wrong way. Best to leave the question as it is.

He turns away, leaving Jayne to his own devices. Without his own ale to occupy him, however, there's not too much to do, and he keeps glancing over towards the entrance to the tavern. "Och," he mutters to himself after a few minutes. "Kaylee, where are ye?"
It doesn't appear that he's realized that he's said it loudly enough that Jayne could pick up on the words - especially since he hasn't bothered to move from his seat next to the man.

Kang had just entered the tavern in time to hear the mumbled words, and he moved over to join her behind the bar with a grin, "You must be Jayne. Bet Kaylee was glad to see you."
no subject
"Yeah that's me...suppose she's been tellin' all sorts of stories." He shot her a look somewhere between a big brother's annoyance and exasperation.

Kaylee gave Kang's arm a quick pat before grabbing a couple mugs from behind the bar to fill them. "Still am glad to see him, and Wash too."

Without Kaylee around, the ship would be a much gloomier place.
"I hear you're a mercenary. You've probably got some good ones to share."

Back behind the bar, Kaylee filled her own mug. "More than you might think he does, and then you gotta be careful on which ones you take serious." She's only half-teasing.

Today, Dustin was in need of a welcome escape. For reasons that eluded him—a major part of his dismay—his room had been oddly quiet, there was a certain lack of snarky conversation in which he normally participated, a niche he hadn't even realized he'd created until it disappeared. For reasons that did not elude him he was inherently more cranky at the ship in general, at GLaDOS and her stupid cake more specifically, but mostly at the ship for putting him through this crap. Just everything. Shit.
So a genius walks into a bar...
...and stands by the door, letting it close behind him as he surveys this locale and its vocal inhabitant staring back.

Scruffy McJackass pursued his course and found his way to the, well, bar section of the bar, outwardly stone-faced but inwardly rejoicing in the bizarre irony of the place. It was fairly normal on the inside, if a bit more rustic than Dustin was accustomed, but he felt sure that this interior could be removed and placed within a standard tavern back on Earth without so much a second glance.
The irony came with the giant lizard that owned the place. Completely disregarding Kang at the moment, Dustin turned his attention to the fly conveniently perched with his alcoholic nectar nearby, as there was a bizarre need to seek out the normal in order to complete the feel of the place.
"Haven't seen you around."

Apathy won out over foul temper, "Just got here."
