Finding the Child Within [OPEN]

With the City restored and things starting to return to normal, Sasami started to return to her home. However, coming to a stop nearby, she let her mind wander through a few things. As she did, she realized something:

"...I haven't been a kid at all..."

Sitting on a branch and laying back on it, Sasami thought back to everything she'd done - cooking, cleaning, taking care of people, trying to be some sort of hero. In all of her wants and wishes, the only thing she never done was just be a kid again. She wasn't a princess anymore. It was highly unlikely anyone she knew from her world would ever show up and as it stood, she had very little friends here.

She needed to loosen up, let her hair down a bit...

...with that line of thinking, Sasami reached up, undoing her pigtails, letting her hair fall as she dropped her beads to the wayside. It was time for a change.

There was another place she hadn't dropped by yet, and Hit girl was making sure that she hit any place she could think of before deciding she had gained a decent perspective on the ship and its inhabitants. She started with this place where she encountered some kid who was seemingly letting her hair down. She hardly got the significance of course, not knowing much about the people in this place, but it didn't hurt to be friendly, right?

"Hey," she said, a few feet away. "What are you doing?"

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-10 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
Hit Girl leapt down from her perch. She had a deliberate balance that came from all of the fighting she did in her world, and was pleased to see that none of it had dulled since coming to Stacy and being forced to be here against her will.

"Trying to start what?" She asked. "I'm pretty new: don't know all the ins and out of this fucker."

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-10 07:38 am (UTC)(link)
Hit girl rolled her eyes. "God, the more hard up people are on this ship, the more I realize you must have had it easy. See, here I'm thinking we're being attacked by evil alien that obliterate worlds, and the most important thing is surviving and fighting back. I didn't realize the fucking language police was also something I was going to have to fight."

She scoffed. "Well don't mind me, princess prude. I have an alien species I have to plan on fighting. If you have any useful information for me, I'd want it, but if you're going to get on me over words, you can't be that useful."

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-10 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
Hit girl couldn't help it-she laughed. "Dignity! Seriously? HERE? Man, for the first days of adjusting to this madhouse, you're definitely one sweet patch of crazy. You have to explain something to me: what good is yelling at me for using 'naughty words' going to do? Am I going to be a bad influence on the kiddies? Will cleaning my dirty mouth make everything nice and safe?"

She shook her head. "I can tell you: it won't mean a damn thing. I've been around this dump, and I know for sure everyone is different. Take a look at some of these so-called adults, and see if they know what they're talking about. You wanna know why I curse like an adult? Think about it: if you think its bad here imagine what happens when justice is nothing but a stupid little idea in the head of weak people. I can tell you: you grow your ass up pretty quickly."

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-10 08:08 am (UTC)(link)
Really? Seriously? Was this the type of people Hit girl was going to have to deal with the longer she started to get into the minds of other people: that she was a little girl and should stay that way so she wouldn't seem out of the ordinary? If that was the case, they could have their childhood innocence: she didn't need it, and she sure as well didn't want it.

"Grown up enough to know you're just scared," she said, scoffing. "Or maybe you just expect all of us younger children to be on the same page or something. If that's what I'm supposed to be like, you can have it. Bully? I didn't take your world or bring you here. Let's face it: I'm tough and you never met someone my age that way. Well understand something: you don't get as tough as me, you're just making yourself a pathetic victim, whether its to the lies they'll tell you or the alien that'll kill you. Man, I really don't GET the attitude of this ship! Does everyone WANT to die?"

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-10 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Well great, she just totally rocked this little girl's world. Not that she thought it was a bad thing, in her opinion: people here were definitely too trusting that somebody on board knew what was going on. A little paranoia never hurt anyone.

"Listen you," Hit girl said, "if you learn anything from the ship, its this: no one can be trusted a hundred percent unless you know for sure the situation. Since you can't EVER know that, guess what? You always have to have a plan B. I can already tell that these adults have been trying to assure these kids that if they just play nice and pretend everything's normal, they'll be ok. So you tell me: you really think that'll save you when the Ohm are fucking everything up? I don't."

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-10 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, it wouldn't," Hit Girl said. "That's why I'm looking for answers on my own. I'm not going to find them acting like a little pipsqueak who needs to be lied to all day. They forced me to be here, but that doesn't mean I have to swallow whatever shit they tell me."

She took a good luck at the girl. "What do you do on the ship?"

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2010-10-10 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Assistant to the First Officer huh?" She hadn't heard of that designation on the ship before. Look like she was really going to have to research more about the command structure on this ship as well as all their names.

Also? She totally needed to meet Batman and Superman, because seriously? That was awesome and impossible all at the same time.

"So why are you all sad about that? Is he making you do things you don't wanna, or something?"

"Excuse me!" the elf called out. He intended to give plenty of warning, so that when he dropped out of the sky to land lightly nearby, it wouldn't be too much of a surprise.

Once settled, he offered a smile in Sasami's direction. "May I trouble you for a moment of your time?"

[identity profile] for-magic.livejournal.com 2010-10-10 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm quite new here, and this place is.... well, alarmingly large." Aibghalien frowned out at the City, and the buildings he'd spent entirely too long overflying, but his smile returned when he looked back. "If it's not too much trouble, my lady, could you please tell me anything of important buildings or landmarks you might know of, here?"

[identity profile] for-magic.livejournal.com 2010-10-10 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"I had wondered about that," the elf said, looking askance at the bus. "A bus is a type of... vehicle, yes? One of those things that go by internal power that isn't magical?"

[identity profile] for-magic.livejournal.com 2010-10-10 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't understand why someone would go to all the effort of creating a vehicle that propels itself without magic, and then enchant it anyway," Aibghalien mused, then continued more cheerfully, "But then again, there's so many things I don't understand here, it's just one more thing I need to learn!

"Do you stay in the royal palace of your world?" he asked Sasami. "It seems I will be spending a large amount of time here, as --" He bit back the use of the courtesy title of 'Lady' -- "Nanoha, the head of the magic department, has allowed me space for a laboratory in the Jedi temple."

[identity profile] for-magic.livejournal.com 2010-10-10 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'll keep your offer in mind," he said, smiling again. "Thank you. I haven't made any decisions about where to stay, except that I know I shouldn't stay in my lab. I'll forget to come out..."

"Sasami?"

Look, there was Starfire floating down! She carried a bag full of who-knows-what in her arms, looking puzzled at her roommate's behavior.

"Do you require a visit to the hair styling devices?" Those strange pods near the bathrooms had been threatening at first, but her hair had escaped unscathed.
starbolts: (Ehehe... XD)

[personal profile] starbolts 2010-10-11 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
"What were you thinking about?"

Setting her items down, Starfire moved to float-sit beside her friend.
starbolts: (Bitter cold)

[personal profile] starbolts 2010-10-11 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
"You have not enjoyed yourself without concerning yourself with obligations? There is never time to play?"

If Starfire understood her friend correctly, that was quite a problem indeed. She'd have to do something about it---but what? As she waited for an answer, Star tried to think back on her own childhood. Would Sasami like those games?
starbolts: (At Sunrise)

[personal profile] starbolts 2010-10-11 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Starfire nodded. It was difficult to be in between---not to belong with who you once were, but not belonging with who you were joining either.

"Why are the others difficult to get along with?"

She was beginning to get an idea, but her curiosities wondered if Sasami wanted to talk first.

[personal profile] starbolts 2010-10-11 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
"You participated in the Council elections?"

Starfire hadn't known this. Sasami would have represented them well, no doubt. "I am sorry. Given the chance, I would have voted for you. But you do not dwell on your loss. You continue to assist any way you can---surely they will not dwell on it either?"

She wondered. "Then perhaps you should help out in a way that is stimulating. Would you like to cook with me?"
starbolts: (That is all we can ask for :))

[personal profile] starbolts 2010-10-11 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
"I doubt it," Starfire said firmly. "Others lost as well, and there will be more opportunities. What is important is that you did not give up."

Could they cook? "Yes, of course! Do you have a favorite food?"
starbolts: (Magazine-worthy pose)

[personal profile] starbolts 2010-10-11 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Then let us find ingredients and determine what we can cook!"

Any additions to the basic formula of 'slop and more slop' would be welcomed, but beware Starfire's taste buds.
starbolts: (Embrace of Doom)

[personal profile] starbolts 2010-10-11 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
"You are most welcome!" Starfire answered with a wide smile, hugging her friend as tightly as she could without hurting her.

"I will find some items---will you also search?"

Starfire was about ready to race off in pursuit of food. Armfuls and armfuls of it.
starbolts: (That is all we can ask for :))

[personal profile] starbolts 2010-10-11 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
"I do not mind," she answered, shaking her head vigorously. Now her own hair was probably a mess---but that was all right. They were friends enjoying themselves.

Starfire enjoyed fixing hair. As she slipped behind Sasami and began carefully parting her hair, she briefly remembered that Raven had never allowed her to do this. And that suited them, but it was nice to have a female friend who would allow it.

Humming happily, she finished with Sasami's hair after a few minutes. "Is that all right?"
starbolts: (^_^ Most wonderful!)

[personal profile] starbolts 2010-10-11 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes!" A whirlwind of flight later, Starfire appeared with an armful of baking supplies---powder, flour, sugar, egg substitute, sweets. At least she couldn't bake something too terrible with these.

"What do you wish to bake? Cakes? Pies? Puddings?"

Jeka was relieved that the City was open again -- flying around the hallways was largely uninteresting, and the Sensoriums never felt quite right to her. Passing by the Juraian royal palace, she spotted movement out of the corner of her eye. She followed it to Sasami and was surprised to see that she'd let her hair down. Was there some special event that she'd forgotten about?

"Hello Sasami!" she called, waving to attract the younger princess' attention.

[identity profile] hatngartersnake.livejournal.com 2010-10-15 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
"A friend of mine is in a coma, unfortunately," Jeka said. And she was beginning to worry about Brainy, but Nura's status was enough of a downer as it was. "Other than that, I'm fine." She gestured at Sasami's hair. "You look nice. Special occasion?"
