Finding the Child Within [OPEN]

With the City restored and things starting to return to normal, Sasami started to return to her home. However, coming to a stop nearby, she let her mind wander through a few things. As she did, she realized something:

"...I haven't been a kid at all..."

Sitting on a branch and laying back on it, Sasami thought back to everything she'd done - cooking, cleaning, taking care of people, trying to be some sort of hero. In all of her wants and wishes, the only thing she never done was just be a kid again. She wasn't a princess anymore. It was highly unlikely anyone she knew from her world would ever show up and as it stood, she had very little friends here.

She needed to loosen up, let her hair down a bit...

...with that line of thinking, Sasami reached up, undoing her pigtails, letting her hair fall as she dropped her beads to the wayside. It was time for a change.

"I doubt it," Starfire said firmly. "Others lost as well, and there will be more opportunities. What is important is that you did not give up."

Could they cook? "Yes, of course! Do you have a favorite food?"

"Me? No, not really... we can just cook something randomly, if that's okay..." Sasami said, standing up on the root, looking at her friend as her loose hair draped behind her.

"Then let us find ingredients and determine what we can cook!"

Any additions to the basic formula of 'slop and more slop' would be welcomed, but beware Starfire's taste buds.

"Okay!" Sasami said. A moment later, and Starfire would find herself being hugged by Sasami. "...thank you, Star-chan..."

"You are most welcome!" Starfire answered with a wide smile, hugging her friend as tightly as she could without hurting her.

"I will find some items---will you also search?"

Starfire was about ready to race off in pursuit of food. Armfuls and armfuls of it.

"Of course I will...!" Sasami said. She smiled bashfully as she continued. "...you wouldn't mind fixing my hair before we start cooking, though, would you?"

She blushed at the thought of asking the question. It felt odd actually asking that.

"I do not mind," she answered, shaking her head vigorously. Now her own hair was probably a mess---but that was all right. They were friends enjoying themselves.

Starfire enjoyed fixing hair. As she slipped behind Sasami and began carefully parting her hair, she briefly remembered that Raven had never allowed her to do this. And that suited them, but it was nice to have a female friend who would allow it.

Humming happily, she finished with Sasami's hair after a few minutes. "Is that all right?"

Sasami took a good look at her now-braided hair and smiled widely. It was a good start for her trying to change and she had to admit - Starfire was pretty good at this!

"Yes, that's wonderful!" she said, beaming brightly. "Now, that that's done, let's get cooking!"

"Yes!" A whirlwind of flight later, Starfire appeared with an armful of baking supplies---powder, flour, sugar, egg substitute, sweets. At least she couldn't bake something too terrible with these.

"What do you wish to bake? Cakes? Pies? Puddings?"
