Finding the Child Within [OPEN]

With the City restored and things starting to return to normal, Sasami started to return to her home. However, coming to a stop nearby, she let her mind wander through a few things. As she did, she realized something:

"...I haven't been a kid at all..."

Sitting on a branch and laying back on it, Sasami thought back to everything she'd done - cooking, cleaning, taking care of people, trying to be some sort of hero. In all of her wants and wishes, the only thing she never done was just be a kid again. She wasn't a princess anymore. It was highly unlikely anyone she knew from her world would ever show up and as it stood, she had very little friends here.

She needed to loosen up, let her hair down a bit...

...with that line of thinking, Sasami reached up, undoing her pigtails, letting her hair fall as she dropped her beads to the wayside. It was time for a change.

Sasami turned her head, blinking as she noticed the new girl by her. Certainly not one of the ones she knew, but it was at least in good favor to at least acknowledge her, right?

"Oh, hi!" she said, waving. "Oh... just thinking. Trying to start somewhere."

Hit Girl leapt down from her perch. She had a deliberate balance that came from all of the fighting she did in her world, and was pleased to see that none of it had dulled since coming to Stacy and being forced to be here against her will.

"Trying to start what?" She asked. "I'm pretty new: don't know all the ins and out of this fucker."

Sasami was about to answer Hit Girl before she heard her say the "f-word". Her jaw hit the ground hearing that - just as bad as Ryoko and she was probably just a bit older than she was physically!

She just glared at her (which looked more adorable than intimidating) and said "If you're going to use that language, then I'm not going to say anything else."

Hit girl rolled her eyes. "God, the more hard up people are on this ship,the more I realize you must have had it easy. See, here I'm thinking we're being attacked by evil alien that obliterate worlds, and the most important thing is surviving and fighting back. I didn't realize the fucking language police was also something I was going to have to fight."

She scoffed. "Well don't mind me, princess prude. I have an alien species I have to plan on fighting. If you have any useful information for me, I'd want it, but if you're going to get on me over words, you can't be that useful."

Sasami turned around, her glare still fixed onto Hit Girl. Nice, she spent all this time trying to be friends with everyone the best she can and now she's found her equivalent of Ryoko.

"Well, excuse me for at least having some sort of dignity around here. I don't know how things were in your world, but where I was from, kids don't curse like they're adults!" Sasami said. Truth be told, she was trying to keep her emotions in check - those first few things she said hurt!

Hit girl couldn't help it-she laughed. "Dignity! Seriously? HERE? Man, for the first days of adjusting to this madhouse, you're definitely one sweet patch of crazy. You have to explain something to me: what good is yelling at me for using 'naughty words' going to do? Am I going to be a bad influence on the kiddies? Will cleaning my dirty mouth make everything nice and safe?"

She shook her head. "I can tell you: it won't mean a damn thing. I've been around this dump, and I know for sure everyone is different. Take a look at some of these so-called adults, and see if they know what they're talking about. You wanna know why I curse like an adult? Think about it: if you think its bad here imagine what happens when justice is nothing but a stupid little idea in the head of weak people. I can tell you: you grow your ass up pretty quickly."

Listening to Hit Girl's words made poor Sasami's blood just boil. How dare she talk like that to her?! No one else treated her like that, not even the adults! Was this what Ayeka had to go through every time Ryoko taunted and teased her? It had to be!

Sasami bit her lip a bit, trying her best not to cry and what the girl was saying. "W-Well... I-I don't care!" she shouted. "You think you're grown up just because of what you've been through? Y-You're not! You're just some... some... bully!"

Really? Seriously? Was this the type of people Hit girl was going to have to deal with the longer she started to get into the minds of other people: that she was a little girl and should stay that way so she wouldn't seem out of the ordinary? If that was the case, they could have their childhood innocence: she didn't need it, and she sure as well didn't want it.

"Grown up enough to know you're just scared," she said, scoffing. "Or maybe you just expect all of us younger children to be on the same page or something. If that's what I'm supposed to be like, you can have it. Bully? I didn't take your world or bring you here. Let's face it: I'm tough and you never met someone my age that way. Well understand something: you don't get as tough as me, you're just making yourself a pathetic victim, whether its to the lies they'll tell you or the alien that'll kill you. Man, I really don't GET the attitude of this ship! Does everyone WANT to die?"

Now Sasami didn't know what to think. When she came on board, she was like all the others: she wanted to fight the Ohm, she wanted to help make a difference. The adults told her differently through the elections and their actions. Now, here was Hit Girl, telling her that, basically, what she was doing before was right.

"No... no, they don't. But... but, they're so used to how they act, they refused to change..." Sasami said. "I... I don't know anymore...

Well great, she just totally rocked this little girl's world. Not that she thought it was a bad thing, in her opinion: people here were definitely too trusting that somebody on board knew what was going on. A little paranoia never hurt anyone.

"Listen you," Hit girl said, "if you learn anything from the ship, its this: no one can be trusted a hundred percent unless you know for sure the situation. Since you can't EVER know that, guess what? You always have to have a plan B. I can already tell that these adults have been trying to assure these kids that if they just play nice and pretend everything's normal, they'll be ok. So you tell me: you really think that'll save you when the Ohm are fucking everything up? I don't."

Sasami looked around, her eyes searching for an answer. She hated to say this, but she was right. But, who'd listen to her? Matter of fact, who'd listen to Hit Girl here?

"I... I see..." she said, just a bit shaken up. "No... no, I don't think it would, I..." she let out a sigh.

"No, it wouldn't," Hit Girl said. "That's why I'm looking for answers on my own. I'm not going to find them acting like a little pipsqueak who needs to be lied to all day. They forced me to be here, but that doesn't mean I have to swallow whatever shit they tell me."

She took a good luck at the girl. "What do you do on the ship?"

Sasami looked back at Hit Girl, still trying to process everything. "I'm... I'm the assistant for the First Officer here." Yeah, it was probably the highest ANY of the kids had gotten. And it was probably why she wanted to drop down a notch a be a kid for awhile.

"Assistant to the First Officer huh?" She hadn't heard of that designation on the ship before. Look like she was really going to have to research more about the command structure on this ship as well as all their names.

Also? She totally needed to meet Batman and Superman, because seriously? That was awesome and impossible all at the same time.

"So why are you all sad about that? Is he making you do things you don't wanna, or something?"
