The quest of looking for her Mistress. Open for anyone.

Vita, still dressed in a strange dress that actually was magical armor, was exploring the ship.

In other words, what looked like a kid with a weird fashion sense, armed only with a criquet mallet, was walking alone through possibly dangerous terrain. What could go wrong there?

To be more precise, she was actually not exploring, but looking for wherever Hayate was now. She knew her mistress was on the ship, after all.

"Oi, Hayate." She tried to send telepathically, through the link, though she wasn't sure if this would work here.
The ship sure was big...

"A land not governed by a scion would quickly descend into unmanageable chaos. As my lands once were."

At the mention of the Ohm and what they had taken, the easy smile on his face vanished. Aibghalien lifted his gaze from Vita to stare coldly at a random point in the season. Cheerful, maniacally-curious mage was only part of his personality; now a different part had been briefly awakened. Cold determination and dedication to an unpleasant task. Aibghalien had lived decades, after all, and had gone through one war of world-shattering importance already. And he had won it.

"Yes. I do. And when the time comes, they will reap exactly what they have sown."

"I can't imagine it's pleasant," the wizard said. "I know some of the worst that can be done... Still, one of my last opponents was a god, and we one that one," he added more cheerfully. "I'm stronger now than I was then. A little more effort and I'll have finally pushed past the barriers of conventional wizardry to..."

He stopped, sheepishly, realizing he was about to get maniacal.

"And then?" he asked, curiously. "I don't believe such a thing would happen to me, because I am an elf, and do have divine blood in me. That should make it possible, but... what happened, if I may ask?"

Stupid day! Don't be over!

"I have no intention of dying when there's still studying to be done," Aibghalien said with a grin. He meant that seriously, oddly; that seemed to be his reason for existing. Was that worrisome?

Aibghalien looked at her for a moment, then smiled, which quickly turned into a laugh. Not patronizing or condescending, but sincere amusement. "You're very easy to like, Vita," he said after the laughter had calmed, though he hadn't stopped smiling. "Meeting people like you is an excellent reminder that even the darkest times can bring some good along with them.

"So long as even a few people around here are worth what you are, I have no doubt that you're right. We will get those Ohm, and I might just even remain sane through the process... well, as sane as I am," he added with a wink.

"Because it's true," he said, unruffled. "You're straightforward, kind, and good-natured. Why other people say it, I don't know, but as for myself... Up till now, I've know very, very few people like you. Most of them are manipulative or false, or at the least covering their true selves beneath courtesy and evasion. So whatever bad has or may come of this disaster, I'm glad I got to meet you."

If it helped to blunt the flustering at all, it was impossible for him to pat her head. She was, after all, still substantially taller than him, and would be until the spell wore off several minutes from now.

"That's the bane of politics," Aibghalien said with a shrug. "It can't really be helped. Not all of them mean poorly, but... it takes courage, I think, to be straightforward. It also helps to be inherently charming," he added with a grin.

TONS of fun. Vita has a friend for ship-life. ^.^

"Charming isn't bad," he said. Now he's teasing her just a little. "Bravery and strength and capability are excellent, but it never hurts to be a little charming on top of all those things, right?"

He wasn't saying 'cute', though; that must be worth something.

"Bah," Aibghalien said dismissively. "Being you suits you! Which includes being a knight. But also includes being charming. Best of both worlds, I say!"

"I can't imagine either would happen," Aibghalien said, right back to sincerity. Playful as he could be, he didn't intend to press the teasing any further than he had. Especially since he won. "I think I knew within five minutes of meeting you that you'd never abandon or shirk your duty!"
