The quest of looking for her Mistress. Open for anyone.

Vita, still dressed in a strange dress that actually was magical armor, was exploring the ship.

In other words, what looked like a kid with a weird fashion sense, armed only with a criquet mallet, was walking alone through possibly dangerous terrain. What could go wrong there?

To be more precise, she was actually not exploring, but looking for wherever Hayate was now. She knew her mistress was on the ship, after all.

"Oi, Hayate." She tried to send telepathically, through the link, though she wasn't sure if this would work here.
The ship sure was big...

"Probably nuclear, then." She shrugs. No matter how similar Vita's world may sound to Eva's, Eva isn't going to forget that she's talking to a super-strong not-child with a talking hammer. Who knows?

"Yeah, well, generally not a good idea to get stabbed by machines. Why exactly were you getting stabbed by machines?"

Eva shrugs again. Her son turned into a gorilla to fight giant centipedes on a regular basis. She just needs to permanently install her suspension of disbelief. "Is your military designated by country, or race, or...?" Well, there are probably a hundred other weird things to base a military off of. People with talking mallets and people without? "Ours is separated by country, mostly, though the invasion's shuffled that up a bit."

"Our world got along pretty well for a few thousand years dividing by nations. No big problems with that, except for the occasional civil war and genocide," Eva says dryly. "Any chance your place is any more civilized?"

Eva doesn't for a second really believe her world's been destroyed. After all, her family is the lords of returning from the dead. She'll never believe in something being gone again until she sees the body, or in this case whatever wreckage the Ohm have made of her universe.

"So your military is a peacekeeping military, then?" Well, that sounds oxymoronic to Eva, but she supposes saving worlds is technically a form of keeping the peace. Sacrifice a few, save the lot. Ends justifying means. "Watchers?"

"Computers and magic," Eva says, putting a finger to her lip. "I'd say your world is very different from mine, but I think my reaction to your talking hammer would make that redundant."

"I guess that makes more sense than the idea that it was just born a talking mallet." It feels weird, talking about a conscious thing like it isn't even there. Not that the Yeerks didn't do that regularly, but Eva feels weird doing it herself. She wonders if the hammer's offended.

"Japan's a country in our world, yes. I wouldn't know what it's like, though. I've never been or given it much study."

"I'm sure my capacity for surprise is only going to last so long on this ship." She shrugs. "And there's no guaranteeing that your Japan was anything like our Japan, anyway. We have aliens, at least, and Atlanteans and time travel, so we're not completely boring."

Eva backed up again, mouth twisting into a frown. "I was being dry. You don't have to keep assuming I'm trying to insult you."

After a pause, "Hayate?".

Eva figures mistress probably doesn't mean the same thing to Vita as it does to her, and stifles the urge to make another wry remark. Vita and Eva don't seem to be quite on the same wavelength in terms of humor. "So she's your benefactor?"
