Ship Work [Open]

Skimmed down just her plantsuit and her hair tied in a ponytail and tucked into the collar, Reimi was laying on a platform that hovered under the nose of the Calnus. While she wasn’t the most incredible mechanic in the world, she knew how to repair her own ship. After all, it had gotten them out of a tight spot.

Adjusting the panel, she wiped her hands and picked up a data pad. The readout scrolled out in front of her and she stuck her tongue out in thought. “Mmm, needs a little more….”

Currently, she was trying to make sure that the auto-repair function was going to be ready for any situation. Picking up a spanner, she adjusted the bolt one last time and entered some code into the machine.

So involved in her work, she didn’t notice that anyone could just come up and talk to her at any given time.

Nura's brows rise. Wormholes? Slipstream? Now she's thuroughly intrigued. "I would appreciate that," she says.

"What if you're not there to repair the Calnus?" Nura muses.

"You could teach someone how to repair the Calnus," she offers helpfully.

She raises a finger. "But in the end, you'd be able to know that that Calnus would be taken care of when you're off on the battlefield or in any other situation," she explains expertly.

Nura pauses for a moment. Wasn't expecting that.

Before she coolly says, "Sure." Beneath the layer of nonchalance, she's capping down her excitement. "It'd help me in the long run with mechanics, and I'd be helping you out."

Nura takes the diagnostic tray into her hands feels the change in weight. It's somewhat heavy, and looks somewhat like the datapads back home, so that's familiarity for her. "Are there certain sections I have to read...or do I get homework too?" She says the last bit with a teasing tone.

"So basically it's a test of my knowledge...hmm..." This she can handle. She's good at memory and keeping track of things...she just enjoys frustrating the hell out of people by pretending that she isn't. "Am I allowed to borrow this for a while?" she waves the diagnostic tray. "At least until it gets stuck in my cranium?"

Nura chuckles. "I bet it will be." She hugs the diagnostic tray to her chest. She's already mapping out her study hours in her mind, along with snack breaks and training time.

Along with... "Oh, by the way...have you already roomed with someone on the ship?"

"My last roommate kind of...left." More like, disappeared to somewhere, and now she can't remember why for the life of her, just the who. "And I kind of need a new one." And since Reimi is going to be her teacher, it might be a good idea to live in close quarters.

"Of course you wouldn't crowd me out," Nura reassures. "It has two slumberpads and a bathroom and plenty more room." No doubt, with her new studies, a lot of it will be covered in paperwork and books. "There's even closets to store your clothes and a place to hang your plantsuit."

"It really is. Especially since I got some satin blankets during shore leave that are much cozier than the drafty sheets the quarters came with."
