It's big meeting time! Word of mouth gets everyone gathered in the Obs Deck--everyone. New, old, the entire crew is there and that makes it clear that there's close to a hundred of them, if not more.

When they've all arrived, a blue bubble pops up around them, courtesy of Blue Beetle, to block them all from Stacy's sensors. Most of the new people were given the basic rundown by Cybil or Chief when they were first released. Some of them have already joined a discussion with a the Commanding Officers and department heads. Some have had a chance to explore a bit. Some were only just recently released.

Realizing a hawk seemed to be talking, Elle couldn't really help staring. Noticing its bizarre companions only amplified the strange, dreamlike feeling she'd had since arriving on this thing. A little dizzy, Elle felt the need to point out the obvious.

"...You're a bird."

The other two creatures (Centaurs? No, far too freakish!) certainly stuck out more, but they could be explained. She knew they were in space, so they obviously must be aliens. But... What the hell was a bird doing here? A talking bird? Were there talking birds in space?

Snorting, she adds "What do you do? Peck people?"

< Only my body is a bird's. Let's say I'm more complicated than I look. Some have seen more about me than others. During the battle with the Yeerks, primarily. I am reluctant to share too much information, but just think of me as a shape-shifter. I don't think I'm alone in that respect although it's hard to remember with so many. > He was keeping with the tendancy to not reveal the morphing technology to just anyone, but hopefully keeping more questions at bay.

"Ohh... So you have an ability."

Elle had never met a shapeshifter, though she'd definitely heard of them. She didn't think many of them hung around as animals, but who knew? People were weird.

"You're not, huh?" She was a little disappointed at that. Why tell someone you could morph if you wont even do it? It felt like a cop-out. "If you show me your ability, I'll show you mine." She crossed her arms, raising an eyebrow. "Like you said, you have to use it eventually anyway, so there's no point hiding it."

Elfangor had found Tobias and Aximili after the meeting Aximili recommended he go to ended. < There's no reason to be ashamed, Tobias. In fact, I have a need to talk to both of you of using your morphs, which I'm almost certain is an extensive range, far beyond the four I have, for communication rings that are being built. They don't want them to break when communication might be essential because of a morph. Only if you wish to volunteer, but it may be better in the long run. > Eflangor thought spoke to his two family members.

< And what would your ability be, miss? > Elfangor asked Elle. It was Andalite unwritten code to not morph for no reason. While he wasn't sure how well Tobias or even Aximili followed it, if they didn't want to do it in front of everyone, they didn't have too.

Unless what this girl could do was something that should be seen. Something that might help in the future, but he would do the morph instead of making Tobias do it.

So the aliens talked, too. Or, at least... Thought at her. They didn't really appear to have mouths. This didn't unnerve her quite as much as the funny eyes on top of their heads, like the ones on snails. She decided to focus on the face-eyes instead.

"It's not really any fun to just say it," Elle explained, grinning. "It looks pretty cool though."

He was nervous about Elle, and a little relieved to see Elfangor. He'd know what to do in this situation.

Being able to communicate with the others was certainly preferable. Seerow's Kindness forbid the sharing of Andalite technology, but he imagined that Dox might be able to construct something to deal with that.

It made him happy inside, to think there was another time he was genetically close to his son, as odd as that sounded. < We could modify them. A device to pick up telepathic communication couldn't hurt anything. It's not like it can read people's minds. > Though if someone was smart enough to make it so...

Well, they could figure out how to make it pick up thought speak on their own if that was the case.

He looked at Elle thoughtfully. < I could show you the Kafit bird. > Letting Elle hear him this time. Knowledge was a good thing on this ship. And showing didn't cause any harm.

< I have either three or four including my own, it's hard to keep track. Anyway I agree about not knowing if it works in thought-speech, and about having to find a way to work them without breaking your laws anymore. > Tobias wondered what the two would think if he told them about how the Yeerks had gotten the cube and how many other humans were now morph capable, as well as many Yeerks themselves.
