Meet N' Greet!

It's big meeting time! Word of mouth gets everyone gathered in the Obs Deck--everyone. New, old, the entire crew is there and that makes it clear that there's close to a hundred of them, if not more.

When they've all arrived, a blue bubble pops up around them, courtesy of Blue Beetle, to block them all from Stacy's sensors. Most of the new people were given the basic rundown by Cybil or Chief when they were first released. Some of them have already joined a discussion with a the Commanding Officers and department heads. Some have had a chance to explore a bit. Some were only just recently released.

[ooc: READ THIS BEFORE TAGGING.]

"Is it possible to crack the lockdown codes? Even through just trying a bunch of randomly generated codes, it's possible. Depending on how complex it is and how the mech's computer can be accessed, of course."

"Well, you'd need to know the frequencies—it's a multi-band transmission—and it's all megabit one-time pads that have to be algorithm-coded by a couple of dynamic factors I'm not going to tell you, sorry... pretty hard, anyway, and the system locks down if you try brute-forcing sequences."
prettycoolguy: (helmless: Uh... huh.)

He shakes his head. "Not my area of expertise. I just know that if Stacy has Cortana under her control and can use her, she's the best cryptologist that the UNSC's ever had. I don't know if she can break it because I don't know what it would require, but I think there's a chance. Especially since your world seems different enough from mine that Cortana's never seen anything like it before."

Of course, she did have no problem diving headlong into a Forerunner system, buuuuut...

"Well, it's not really—cryptography, in the normal way. The only way you could do it would be brute-forcing, and that'd take..."

She starts counting on her fingers.

And counting.

...wait, lost count.

"...well, it's a hell of a long time, anyway."

"Then there might be a good chance. When we start sending probes, we can keep an eye out for anything that might be your mech. If all goes according to plan it won't be much longer."

Though the Chief's not going to make any promises to anybody about a time frame, he has a feeling in his gut that this probably won't all go nice and according to plan.

Nothing ever does.

Luly nods—and fishes around inside her makeshift garment a moment, pulling out a smooth black cylinder about the size of an old-fashioned fountain pen. "Idazy, muko ayteram za eberus Malach."

It takes a long moment, but a ring starts glowing at the end of the cylinder... and with a soft whine, an image (http://i41.tinypic.com/2a4yb15.jpg) congeals in midair above it, somewhat stylized and unreal-looking.

He looks at it, memorizing the design though he's probably not going to be the first to run into it if they do find it. He's a bit big to go crawling around in the vents.

"Like that, but forty feet tall. I got it."

Oh, pshaw. He'd just need to push harder. Maybe get some grease.

Luly taps the side of the cylinder—the image vanishes, and she tucks it back away into wherever it's hidden in that sari thing. "Right."
