Sitting Around, Talking About Doing Stuff [OPEN]
And this was the part of the job that Leon knew would eventually grate on him. Meetings. They were necessary, and usually productive, but they were not his thing. Still, it was part of the job now, so as per his post on the comms, he made himself available at the Precinct. His old office belonged to Samus now, so for the time being he made himself comfortable in the fifth floor conference room.

Luis had a foreboding-looking stack of notes in one hand, and a small paper bag recycled from a Zokez II shopping trip in the other. Inside was a large bottle of Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey, pristine and unopened.
He shrugged. "I thought a little present was in order. Mr. Luthor didn't seem to be using it in that fancy lounge of his."
no subject
"Thanks, Luis." He appreciated that.

He had a seat in a nearby chair, set down his notes and pulled his glasses out of his pocket. "Come on, I have total faith in you. And to tell you the truth, you making captain makes things a lot easier on me. I was a little worried about having to explain my department's latest projects to a new captain."
A pause.
"Speaking of which, stop sending all the teenagers to me."

That, or Luthor had decided to let her have it; she really didn't care.
"I suppose this is congratulations," She held it out. Go on, Kennedy, you know you want it, "...Captain."

"The strike team's working out well, so far," She reported in the same tone one might use to note that Sherry was inches taller than this time last year, "We're setting up a few bases in the city, but we should be operational on a useful basis soon."
She thought he might appreciate that. After all, a full third of the danger came from the leave-behinds of the old crew. Safety was in having a place to run to ground and reload when the undead crowded the streets or statues walked around alive....or worse. There was never any telling, here.

"Who's on your team so far?"
I have spelled things wrong here. Deal with it.
And what if I don't want to deal with it, huh?
Then I stab you in the eyes with paper clips.

Congrats, Nanoha, you're making progress.
"Come on in."

The photographer himself was leaning against the doorway, enjoying the fact that he had just taken what seemed, to him at least, to be an excellent picture. "You must be Capt. Kennedy," he said as he moved toward the conference table. He draped himself in a chair, placing himself in it like it was a throne. After making sure his camera was properly closed and its lens cap was in place, he leaned back and rested his feet on the table.
Making sure he was comfortable, he looked Leon straight in the eye and said, "Tsukasa Kadoya. Since I have been volunteered for Away Team duty, I'd rather like to learn some about the job. So, I'd like to hear everything you can tell me about it."
no subject
"Well, first of all... feet off the table." It was less of a command, but more of a polite chiding at this point.
"Secondly, despite being volunteered, it's your choice if you want to be involved with the Away Teams, or not."
no subject
"You didn't answer my question, you know."
no subject
"From what I can tell you, Away missions will vary wildly from mission to mission. Effectively, you have to be ready to handle almost anything. From the few that we've had so far, one involved salvaging equipment in the aftermath of an Ohm assault, another involved reviving a spirit, and a third involved taking on overgrown killer plants.
"You can expect a similar amount of variety.
"As for mission execution, you and your teammates will be dropped off on some world, given a necessary amount of weapons and resources, including local currency, and a time frame to complete your mission and return to the ship."

He made it himself, and it looked like it.
It resembled the Earth King's hat, only it was a bit more dashing.
"You don't actually have to wear it; it's a joke hat."
no subject
"Well, thank you, Aang. It's a very nice hat."
no subject
A pause.
"Well, technically we wanted to know if I could talk to you about a couple things. My past lives included. I spoke to them about the state of the crew and about you becoming captain, and they had some things they wanted me to pass along."
Aang gathered up his robes and sat in one of the meeting room chairs, facing Leon.
"You already know the crew is out of balance. Even most of the crew does."

Still, he'd almost prefer to be pulled up a chain. That, he was used to.
"Spacious," was his comment as he wheeled in, carefully setting a couple tin cups and a full, warm kettle (previously hooked precariously to the back of his chair) on the table. "Tea?"
no subject
"Sure, thank you."

Well, maybe it was, but it was also something of an honor, especially considering Leon's known past in law enforcement around here. The Guv poured two careful cups of dark, questionable-smelling liquid and slid one of them toward the other man before toasting him and taking a deep drink of his own.
This particular brew actually did contain tea leaves, as well as three (three!) whole cigarettes, clean leather, some random leaves from hydroponics that hadn't looked deadly, cinnamon, and carrots. He thought the orange roots gave the tea a somewhat refreshing effect.
