Beastboy was for the most part a highly emotional boy, running on lots of energy, irrepressible cheer and a sense of humor that was...unique at best.

But sometimes...sometimes he needed time to think and be quiet. Usually he could do that while playing game station, reading comics or going for a flight.

Today however despite his lack of desire to socialize he had energy to burn. That creepy robo chick had teased him with cake and gotten him all worked up, only to drop him just in time to find out he'd missed a huge fight.

So being the responsible and intelligent hero he imagined he was, Beastboy decided he needed a little training to get back into the swing of combat.

The Sensoriums were awesome in his opinion, like a giant do it yourself video game.

So the scene? Jump City streets just outside the his favorite Pizza parlor.

The enemy? Sladebots! The best for cannon fodder, they were robots so he didn't feel bad about stomping them flat, and they were just scary enough to be a challenge.

This was his right? No way he could lose...

***

Within ten minutes he was being rolled down the street by the over zealous Sladebot projections...his imagination was running away with him.

And as long as they were having fun, why not make it interesting? Katara had the Sensorium place random icebergs in their way and now Katara was either moving them with her hands or maneuvering out of the way just in time. With Beastboy as the penguin, this was the fastest she'd gone yet!

She'd have to thank him later for being such a good sport and letting her ride him on the slopes!

Snowballs? Ha! That was still water, and Katara knew how to deal with that. With every snowball lobbed, Katara stopped it in place and swung it right back, knowing a few of the snowmen's heads off. She wasn't known as a master waterbender for nothing.

But she couldn't avoid every snowball, so she assumed ice dodging Rule number one: be fast enough to react to the environment, and be clever.

Oh, but it helped to have take part in Sokka's ritualistic test of manhood ice dodging. With the jump, she lowered herself closer to Beastboy, making sure not to catch on any of the rings and was airborn for a few good seconds. She steered Beastboy well enough to go cleanly through each ice rink until they hit the next snow slope.

She disembarked, grinning. "That was great!"

"I'm just glad I was still able to do it!" Katara exclaimed. "Its been a long time since I got to do this, but it looks like I've still got it!"

She grinned. "You have pretty sweet powers!" Katara said. "I've never seen anything like it!"

Katara couldn't help but laugh. Beastboy actually reminded her a lot of Jet a bit, not so much with the hating of the Firenation but more of the strength and the cockiness. It was more funny though.

"Yeah, I guess they are pretty cool," Katara said. "Besides, I think you'll fit in here just fine: we're still trying to help people, right?"

"Good luck then," Katara said, "because we'll need all the help we can get, right? So I'm curious: what's your story, Beastboy?"

That was a pretty interesting story, and she actually did love young Beastboy, he was so cute!

"I almost wish I had a cool origin story like that!" Katara said. "Not that I mind my own story. I mean, I'm basically in a world where we are able to bend: I can waterbend, other people can bend fire, air and earth. There is one person born every generation who is able to bend all elements, The Avatar. He can also draw out the power and wisdom of the previous Avatars, and keeps the world in balance. I've been traveling with the current Avatar and my brother, and due to all our traveling, I've become a Master Waterbender."

It was a REALLY brief history of what's happened to her, but she would have time to talk about that later.

"I've told myself that over and over!" Katara said, grinning. "I think it was fate. He had been gone for a hundred years, and was woken up just as war threatened to tear our world apart. as things turned out, because of him all of us were able to grow stronger and play a part in undoing the wrongs in our world. I feel like this is our chance to do it again, don't you?"

Katara knew superhero potential when she saw it, at least, now that she'd been in frequent contact with a few of them. She wondered if Beastboy might be interested in The Outsiders at all. She knew that she didn't have as much time as she wanted to devote to the team. but she DID want to make sure that the team didn't die."

"Say Beastboy," Katara said, "down in the city, there's a hotel where this team of teenagers gather as a team, The Outsiders. Our basic goal is to have a camaraderie of members who help on the ship in times of trouble on the ship. I was a part of the team when we had leaders, but now those leaders are gone. I've been trying to gather what's left of them and keep the team alive. Basically, we're a team that don't discriminate on what our fellow team members ages or general species are, so long as we're family and we help others. You interested?"

"That's great!" Katara said, grinning. "There's several teen heroes on the ship that can't get into the security team because they don't think teenagers have the right experience. Wanna show them how wrong they are?"

Well, she had to admit she hadn't seen the requirements for Security recently, but she did like the idea of a teen propelled team.
