The Art of Beach Alchemy [Open]

Night had fallen and Ed was out in full force.

Having decided to wait till the evening to make the effort even more spectacular, Ed had waited till the sun had set before performing his alchemy. A fitting tribute and all together frivolous, he clapped his hands.

A ring of energy formed and a statue formed of Alphonse in what he considered to be a heroic pose. He clapped his hands again and more statues formed; Armstrong without his shirt and posing, Fuery looking heroic with gun at his side while petting Den, Breda with a sandwich, Havoc in mid-drag of his ever-present cigarettes, Granny Pinako with her pipe, and even Hoenheim, as much as Ed was frustrated with him deserved a spot on his little beachfront adjustment. May stood at the bottom of the group, hands folded into her sleeves, and Ran Fan's grandfather stood in the final position.

It would stand here on the beach, rimming a set of rocks that he also had transmuted into strong glass and marble. A statement that the Fullmetal Alchemist had been here, and he was leaving his mark across the universe.

Ed grinned as he tapped his sneaker against the sand. "Looks pretty decent," he said to himself.

He felt that he didn't need to add statues of those awake. They being on this planet was enough.

Taking back the panda and transmuting it back to sand, he grinned slightly. "I've met the Furher, the ruler of our country multiple times face to face. To me, this is just old hat. Sorry if I spoiled your fun a little but I'm pretty much short on formalities."

He scratched his head. "Though Queen? Your nation isn't named after you is it? Or am I wondering bout that a little too much?"

[identity profile] sanguineroyal.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Nanashi could not help but laugh lightly. "No, I am Queen Nanashi. Kuninoryu... well, it means Country of Dragon." It was very odd to have what she said come out properly, since when she spoke the only change was how she was thinking of the word, from name to a description.

"I have noticed that most people are short on formalities on the ship, so I can forgive you, little one. Nanashi bent, picking up some sand and let it slip between her fingers. "Do you think that I might be able to learn this new science from you?"

[identity profile] short-changed.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Ed tried not to twitch at the short pun and flip out, but held onto his dignity with aplomb. He had grown taller goddamnit! Really!

Oh now it's the sand. GAAAAAH!

"I could teach you yes," grit out Ed. "But there's major rules to follow with transmutation and science. They'll have to be strictly followed, including the big Don't Even Think About It rule."

[identity profile] sanguineroyal.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
Nanashi could not help but to smile a bit, seeing that her subtle pun had had an effect. Still, she raised an eyebrow with the mention of a 'Don't Even Think About It' rule. "I know the rules of science already, but I am more than willing to learn more rules, but what is this 'Do Not Even Think About It' rule?" Nanashi's formal speech and lack of contractions in her speech seemed to even reach out to when she was quoting Ed in this case.

"It's the worlds most serious rule. You can probably see the result of it." And he held up his metal arm and stamped his artificial leg.

"An alchemist must never attempt Human Transmutation. To do so, is to step on the realm of God. And God hates it when we try, and the price is too high. You'll wind up creating a monster. I'll teach you, as long as you promise NEVER to attempt such a feat."

[identity profile] sanguineroyal.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
Human Transmutation. She may not be too familiar with alchemy, but she knew the word's meaning still. And that it was forbidden answered any doubts she might have- the law was that she should never try to create a human. Nanashi laughed, "I can promise that one." And she could. Even of those she felt guilty for killing, she had never wanted to revive someone. She couldn't even fathom the connection she would need to have with a person to desire that. "God has already spurned me, I have no interest in entering God's realm. I am happy with my devil's blessing."

She doubted that would make too much sense to Ed, but that was fine. If he wanted to know she would answer. If not, then he did not need to know that there was a race in her world that called themselves God's messengers, and condemned vampires as being blessed by a devil. Of course, this had created a new human religion.

[identity profile] changeddestiny.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Ed nodded, chalking it up to differences in her world than it was in his. And the devil's blessing? Heck, he was probably a heretic anyhow. "Alright. I'm already putting together a miniature class for Hiccup so I can probably squeeze your lessons in. The Media Library's got some of the standard Alchemical Notes and enough material to make arrays and copy down notes. I'll have to get some chalk and other things too."

Ed rubbed his chin. "At the least, I'll pick up some real books, not this crappy mechanical stuff and write an introductory lesson plan. Sound good?"

[identity profile] sanguineroyal.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
It sounded better than good. "I can have the notes in the media centre memorized within two days after we get back on the ship. It took me only two days to understand the progress from the gun to blaster cannon with a basic understanding of the creation of laser weapons. I think I can get the basics of a science that shares similarities with my own."

The thought of getting to use books- normal pieces of paper- made Nanashi's day. "Oh! Yes! I have been meaning to stock up on notebooks as it was!" Nanashi scooped Ed up into a hug. This darling child was offering power, the comforts of home, and science. The only thing that could possibly make her love him more in this instant would be if he was as formal and polite as Dr. Sam Henderson was. Unfortunately, in her excitement, Nanashi did not realize that in her excitement she had pulled the child directly into her chest.

[identity profile] changeddestiny.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Ed was about to say something else when Nanashi grabbed him and hugged him for all that was worth. For a long moment he said nothing, and then he muffled out, "You're welcome."

He was still twitching a little with his face directly in her breasts. And god they were huge. It was disconcerting to say the least since he had little experience with this sort of thing and he sort of twitched.

Somewhere out there, Negi Springfield burst out laughing for no apparent reason.

[identity profile] sanguineroyal.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
Nanashi, still uncharacteristically oblivious let Ed go, still beaming. "So, do I get to learn the name of my new sensei?"

Not only were her breasts huge, the swimsuit she had on had less cloth to it than a bra. Perhaps not significantly less, but still less.

"I will also be willing to go with you to get these supplies. I can carry a lot more than a human woman, in case you are short handed."
Oh, was she good at that. She did not put any emphasis on her puns, letting them seem like a normal part of speech for her. Who knew teasing someone with issues being short could be that much fun?

[identity profile] changeddestiny.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Short joke and a compliment and magnificent breastsall in one. Ed was trying desperately not to freak out in one way or another as he murmured out, "Edward Elric. Nice t'meet you Queen Nanashi."

He rubbed his head. "I'm sure we can get the supplies at the local arts and crafts store. They've got a surprising amount of stuff I needed from there."

[identity profile] sanguineroyal.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Nanashi nodded her head, "And you." Nanashi was beaming. Not only was the child sweet, but it was so easy to convince him to teach her this powerful magic- art- science? Oh, well she figured she would have a better understanding once she actually got to practice some of it.

She was eager to learn, but if they needed to go to a store that may only be open during the day, that could be a problem. "Are they open in the evening?"

[identity profile] sanguineroyal.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Nanashi glared at the neon, not appreciating it's brightness. "That is good, I cannot walk in the sunlight."

As if such a statement was not a big deal or interesting in any way she went on, "If you give me a moment to get dressed again, I will accompany you there now."

[identity profile] sanguineroyal.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
It was nice having students, even if they were taller than you. Nanashi ran over to where she had left her clothes and cloak, faster than a human possibly could, but slow enough that she could be seen running. No use constantly running that fast. It confused humans too much.

She shook out her dress, getting all the sand out and slipped it over her head, wiggling her way into it. She took her cloak next, shaking that out too, and swinging it onto her shoulders, the red of the red and white coat of arms on the back of the cloak was even more vibrant of a red next to the black and the cold silver embroidery.

Nanashi ran back, her heels in hand. "Whenever you are ready to go, Sensei."

[identity profile] short-changed.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Ed nodded and held out a hand for the woman. Queen or not, there were still some old fashioned things about the young State Alchemist that were still gallant. "Let's go then."

[identity profile] sanguineroyal.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Nanashi took his hand without much of a thought. It was such a simple gesture that she was so used to she barely noticed. As soon as the sand gave way to the board walk Nanashi slipped her feet into her heels and grew another three inches.

Walking effortlessly despite the fine heel tip and hight Nanashi asked, "What is it that you plan on getting at this store?" Arts and crafts were not exactly what she related with science.

[identity profile] short-changed.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"Stock paper for one, chalk and markers," replied Ed as he pushed the door open. It was well lit, but not overly so, just enough to keep a good soft light emitting from the building. "The first step in Alchemy is not only knowing what basic components things are made of, but to also know the most basic of Arrays that accompany transmutation. Simple things up to the most complex arrays are needed for any transmutation to be performed."

[identity profile] sanguineroyal.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Sunglasses. She pulled them out of her dress pocket. Even lights like this bothered her, though they were not too bad.

Nanashi was honestly surprised about the arrays though. "I am sorry if I sound rude in any way, but you draw in order to make these chemical changes? I did not see any arrays drawn into the sand, and my eyes do not miss things like that."

[identity profile] short-changed.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"Energy patterns flow in a circle," explained Ed. "And from the energy flow, transmutation is achieved, from the simple to advanced. As for making a circle in the sand, I don't need to do it."

"It's a long story," said Ed, picking up a piece of chalk and inspecting it. Satisfied, he added it to his growing pile of supplies he was putting into an basket. "But it relates to the Forbidden Transmutations."

[identity profile] sanguineroyal.livejournal.com 2010-06-18 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Nanashi's interest was now piqued. So, these forbidden transmutations came with great power. She knew better than to press the subject now though. Instead she latched on to the concept of energy flows. "So the creation of these circles generates energy which is a catalyst for a chemical reaction of sorts?"

Nanashi would be a very quick learning student. That is what happens when you do not forget anything that you learn. "I am taking a guess, based on what I already know. Is this right?"

[identity profile] changeddestiny.livejournal.com 2010-06-19 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
"That about sums it up. From there you break apart matter, recombine it and shape it into whatever you need. Although there are limits of course, like you can't turn an egg into a chicken, or say a log into a house." said Ed.

[identity profile] sanguineroyal.livejournal.com 2010-06-19 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Equivalent Exchange." She echoed the concept that was mentioned earlier by both him and Greed. "So as long as the end result has the same amount of matter and the same base elements, you can shape it how you desire. And this is done with the aid of an array." She was really fascinated by the whole process. Such a thing was unheard of back home.
