ROAD TRIP

It was a freaking gorgeous day out on Zokez II, and even though it was all islands, there was some open road. Dean did a last check over on the Impala, making sure everything looked good.

He then yelled to the others, "Come on, we're burning daylight here, let's go."

Smug Dean is very smug about his best friend liking the tunes.

"See, big brother was right." The song then switched to AC/DC's Thunderstruck after the other song was finished as they drove along.

"So where to first? I vote we get some real food."

Sam looked over his shoulder and grinned at Cas. Surely the angel had been around them long enough to recognize that little bit of family byplay. Wasn't like it was unusual for them to do it. "Real food would be awesome," he agreed, rubbing his fingers over Rhiow's back. "Like, seriously awesome. Nothing that tastes of library paste."

Rhiow relaxed into the scratching, her ears twitching at the playful arguments thrown back and forth between the Winchesters and the former Power in the back seat. "Food," she said longingly. "I'd even eat rats, at this point - nasty diseased things." She would never be desperate enough to eat roaches like poor Yahf down the way.

Thinking of Yahf made her think of home - and she went practically boneless in Sam's lap. This was one of the things she missed the most. Quiet times with her ehhif, sitting on the couch watching the Hh'eevee babble at them, both of them taking a rest after a long day.

And really, Sam made a great lap.

"Real food would be ... welcome," Cas agreed. "Could we get ..." he paused. "Hamburgers?"

Dean gave a bigger grin at that, and was scouting for something resembling a good diner, or this planet's closest equivalent. Because dammit, there should be a good diner anywhere. Even in other galaxies. (Though he's gonna avoid the special, juuuust in case there's anything like that freaking singing chestburster)

"Cas, you know me. Of course we're getting burgers. As many as everybody wants."

Sam looked at them and rolled his eyes. "You know, the weird thing is? Even I'm craving a hamburger." Which was news in and of itself, honestly. Sam generally avoided anything like that. Too long in California.

"Sweet Queen Iau," Rhiow said, sitting straight up in Sam's lap. "Cheeseburgers. What I wouldn't give for a MhHonalh's right about now." And try to parse that in her accent - not that it wasn't obvious already. "Although I'm not sure that much bread can be good for my digestion. It's not built to take so much gluten."

She began washing her paws as she sat in Sam's lap, watching the scenery flick by out the windows. It was a very pretty planet, and she was very grateful to Stacy for putting them off there.

Cas tilted his head, trying to understand what Rhiow was saying, but his attention was diverted as what appeared to clearly be a dinner appeared down the road. He was quiet as Dean pulled into the parking lot.

"Well it ain't McD's, but this joint looks even better," Dean crowed as he put the Impala in park, and cut the engine.

"Hope Kang and the boys were keeping up. Come on, I bet they got awesome pie."

Hell, he was already drooling at the very thought.

"I don't know if they have pie, but they should have some sort of pastry and fruit combination." It seemed a pretty common thing, even back home. "As long as the burgers have cheese and enough grease to clog your arteries, it'll be good enough for me."

Which probably said something about exactly how bad the slop was that Sam was saying that.
