Fire Flies and Water Flows at Sunset. [Open]
In the aftermath of a rather unusual experience in the hotel lobby that morning, Billy was not exactly enamored with the mega-hotels with amenities upon amenities crowding the shoreline of the main island. After conducting all the business he could before store closing (and making sure he had enough savings to last the few days), he chose to retire to a more remote location to think.
The cluster of quiet cabanas he'd located on one of the side islands was perfect for that purpose. True, there were no on-site spas, shopping centers, restaurants, or other facilities, but all he really needed was a simple room with access to the island breeze. The surrounding palm trees, central quiet pool, and peaceful beaches were positives as well. It was so remote here that he'd even been able to park right next to his cabana. How convenient.
Once check-in was completed, it was time to think. Helpful attendants sporting tropical shirts suggested the quiet pool located next to the fire pit, where a mysterious event was due to occur at sunset. Billy went along with them unresistingly, and sure enough he was immersed in the water as the twilight filled the sky. There were perhaps ten other people milling around in the pool, all seemingly waiting for something spectacular to happen.
And it would, given a few minutes and the right spark.
((OOC: These cabanas, as it turns out, are second only to love hotels in popularity for couples. Billy is about to find out why. Feel free to mix and mingle in this post, or use the setting in your own posts.))

Nuzzle. And of course, a reciprocating ear-skritch provided he can reach. Squeaking, the oddity's head finds its way to the Human's chest. He's smiling by now, with a paw curled into (or the equivalent thereof) whatever it is his Bee happens to be wearing.

Just under the surface, the bright light of joy bubbles up from within him. Billy tucks his head above Renne's, smiling softly at the warm weight pressing through his tank top. His arms wrap around Renne's back, holding him securely.
"She won't get you again if I have anything to say about it."

A squeaking chirp later, the embrace is readily reciprocated. He really, really feels good right now but doesn't wish to embarass Billy. Thus, a few minutes later, the oddity slowly lets go and twists his head toward the scent of the water.
He can tell where water is. Telling between a man-made pool and a lake? That's slightly more difficult.
"Eee. Is wah-terrr. Is la-ke?"
no subject
"No, it's a pool. The people here built it and filled it with specially treated water so that they could swim safely."
no subject
Trill-squeaking curiously, the oddity carefully extends a foot out, fully intending to try and dip a toe into this treated water.
no subject
Billy watches the tentative water testing, hands ready to spring into action in case Renne slips.
no subject
He's not letting go of you, Billy. He's a little too afraid of falling in and, well, not swimming. Thus, the oddity stretches out and manages to dip a toe into the water.
"Eeee. It noh feel ba-d."
no subject
Making sure his grip on Renne is secure, Billy watches as the water is tested. His brother seems so unused to this.
"You don't swim, do you?"
no subject
About now, he's kind of gingerly wiggling his toe in the water but no sir, he's not letting go of Billy.
"Noh, Rrrr-enne noh do tha-t."
Not in water that thin, anyway.
no subject
Billy's still watching protectively over you, Renne, and wondering about the dilemma.
"After you master walking, we could try swimming lessons in the Sensoriums. What do you think?" It's just a chance offer in the event that Renne wanted to learn.
no subject
"Do Bee know haow?" He'd scratch his head in thought at Billy's offer if he wasn't too afraid of letting go.
no subject
That explained, he looks at Renne questioningly. "Have you been thrown into deep water before?"
no subject
Pulling his foot back now, the oddity curls in a little at the question. Without speaking, a flash of a memory blinks by in one of those instant-for-a-second images. He had in fact, been found in deep water, once from being thrown and another from, bluntly, his own idiocy.
At the time, he'd been aboard the Tanar'ri Alus; his own stupidly innocent take on "piracy" leading him to believe he could simply catch up to a merchant ship and ask them nicely to "surrender booty". No, Billy, Renne does not understand what real piracy is like.
no subject
I'm sorry. It wasn't your fault, okay? That was wrong.
After a brief thinking period, he proposes something else. "Hey...do you want to test out the water? I'll make sure nothing happens to you."
no subject
"Eee. Bee got ki-ck big Fish in buhtt. Rrrraowrrr." A squeak later, the oddity gives the Human a burrowing nuzzle and a flash of Billy-blue blazes across his skin.
"Bee noh be hurrr-ted? Wha-t Bee do?"
no subject
Nuzzling right back for a moment, Billy recalls: "I reminded myself that saving my friends meant the world to me. My fear couldn't stand in my way. So I charged ahead and fought with everything I had."
Fish still weren't his favorite creatures in the world, but he could grow to like them.
no subject
Squeak! Wait. "Superhero"? Blame Beastboy, really.
no subject
When that settles, Billy looks out at the pool once again. He's contemplating the surface, every last ripple. Odd.
no subject
Squeak-chitter.
no subject
"I just don't like to engage in blatant self promotion."
no subject
Yep, that's the confused squeak. Surely you know what that sounds like by now.
no subject
That's all, although he's sure Trini could have done a better translation job.
no subject
Ohh, now he's really, really confused and perhaps because of that, he repeats words spoken to him a long time ago. Words that, when associated to himself, he hasn't believed.
"Bee noh ah-spend-buhll. Noh neh-verrr."

How easily you get that squeaking blush outta him. The blush and a nanosecond of deja vu, a nanosecond of a reminder from way back when. That nanosecond passes quickly though and yes, a paw comes up to try and reciprocate.
