Free Hugs, anyone~?

Too much doom and gloom on the ship? Easily fixed, if you ask this mechanic.

There is a table in the mess hall, carefully set up just inside one of the doors, with a small sign on top reading, "Free Hugs!" Next to the sign, looking as smiley as she possibly can, sits Kaylee, ready to hug anyone and everyone who walks through the door.

Non-huggers beware, even you are in danger of some cheering up today.

"Not everything can be learned from a book," he muses. Their wisdom came from all around. After a beat, he looks through the hall again. Not to be greedy, but...

"The offer hasn't expired yet, has it?"

"Barely opened a book in my life, so I can't disagree with that."

And Billy's hair an affectionate ruffle. "For you, it's an ongoin' offer. No worry for expiration, not ever."

"You learned all of that through observation? Or did your visual information come from other sources?" Yes, this is somehow a topic he's curious about.

"Kaylee!" And now, an attempt to hide his blush by tucking his head over her shoulder in another hug.

"Learned most've what I know from my daddy and ma. Observation, interactin' with folks...livin' life."

She giggles, and grabs him tight into the second hug. "Only 'cause you deserve it so much."

"And if you're the product of that, then there's definitely something to be said for it."

That embrace cements the cheering-up process for today, and the wide grin hopefully distracts from the faint pink tinge on his face.

"Thank you, Kaylee."

"What can I say? The parent folk knew what they were doin'." The whole town knew, really. One of the plus sides of growing up in such a friendly place.

"Long as you're feelin' happier there's no need at all for thanks."

That earns her one last wide smile. "And that's precisely why you deserve it. I'll see you soon."

He bounds away, a distinct bounce in his gait. Kaylee Frye, you've done well for today.
