Itadakimasu~! [OPEN PARTY]

If the Mess Hall normally smelled like anything, it was the bland, flavorless glop that the crew was accustomed to eating. But if you were to pass by the room today, you might notice a different smell. A good smell - the smell of actual food.

Nanoha Takamachi and Miku Hinasaki have been hard at work cooking up a feast of authentic homemade Japanese cuisine, and the entire ship is invited. Have at it!

(ooc: Thread amongst yourselves; Nanoha and Miku will be tagging around and making sure everyone's having a good time, but it's a party!

There's pretty much every type of Japanese cuisine here that they thought non-Japanese would enjoy/be familiar with: Hand-rolled sushi, some gyoza potstickers, udon bowls, agedashi tofu, and a variety of other dishes. If you're familiar with it, they probably made some.)

Katara still looked confused. "I always thought that wasn't the right way to eat fish. How exactly do you prepare it raw?"

"Well, that's just about the cutting and cleaning," Nanoha explained, "You can only use fresh fish for that sort of thing. The real preparation comes in the other things, like the rice and nori."

The thought of still being able to use raw fish and create something that didn't make the person eating sick still baffled her, but it was still very good. "Is there a cookbook where I can learn how to do something like this? I won't be able to go at it right away, I still have tons of training to do, but in my spare time, I'd like to try!"

But Katara looked baffled about something. "What is Nori?"

"I don't know about a cookbook, but I'm sure Miku and I could teach you." Nanoha grabbed a pair of chopsticks, deftly picking up one of the thin sheets of dried seaweed on one of the serving plats. "And this is nori - it's dried seaweed."

"I would like that," Katara started to say, then brightened. "Oh, THAT'S what that is! Oh, we cook with seaweed all the time! We even make it into cookies!"

Katara used the chopsticks pretty well herself, taking a piece of Tofu from a bowl of miso soup.

"Seaweed... cookies?" Nanoha blinked. She knew you could do a lot of things with nori, but cookies? That seemed like an odd combination. "You'll have to make them for me sometime!"

"Yup!" Katara said, grinning. "I wouldn't mind showing you sometime! Me and my brother Sokka are planning to try and have a day where we show others about the things from our tribe. I wouldn't mind making something like that for you!"

"I'll be sure to come! I'd love to learn more about you and your brothers' tribe."

"I'll make sure you're on the top of the list then!" Katara said, taking some more of her soup.

"How's Fate? Are you guys getting along a little better now?"

"Oh, yep!" Nanoha nodded happily. "Everything's just been going great with us these days."

"Well, she got angry when Signum and I went a bit overboard in sparring, but she got over that fast."

Katara grinned. "I'm glad to hear it! I was pretty bothered when you both were fighting before. I'm pleased to hear that you're both doing a lot better. Who's Signum?"

She turned red a little. "I mean, it might not make a lot of sense to you, but it helps to see two people in a good relationship, both of them capable fighters, still managing to keep each other balanced. It sort of gives me hope, you know?"

"Vivio was bothered too," the girl sighed. "I was being stupid, and I'm glad I'm over that. And Signum's a good friend of ours from back home! She's the second-in-command of Fate's squad, actually."

"And it makes sense," Nanoha assured her. "I'm really happy you think of us in that way."

"Signum...I'll keep an eye out for her," Katara said, grinning. "It looks like you have quite a few people from your world coming here. Who else is from your world?"

She smiled. "Well, there are only a few people on the ship who are in relationships, and I know you guys the best. You both seem to really trust each other and care about each other, plus you have Vivio! You're both really amazing!"
