Meet and Greet Part Deux: The Socialing

The new people will find themselves ushered out of Obs Deck, so it can be shot down to the planet again, to pick the crew up. Eventually, the crew members on the mission are brought back up, and the doors open to let the two groups meet.

The newbies are likely not expecting their new crew-mates to come back bearing presents--which some of them are.

[ooc: This time anyone can post in. REMEMBER TO TAG OTHER PEOPLE, THO. This is set after the mission so mission peoples can meet the newbies. Latecomer newbies, if you want, you can just tag your guys into this one to make things easier.]

"The second Vision." Wanda echoed. The unsettling feeling in the pit of her stomach only grew. "What happened to the first? How did you come by his programming?"

Jonas hesitated, then took the plunge. Accuracy, brevity, and only as much information as she really needed: "[He was very severely damaged in a fight. His programming was downloaded into a suit of psychokinetic armor in the possession of the young man whose brain-patterns I am based on.]" He paused. "[At the time that Stacy abducted me from, the Avengers had not yet reassembled him.]"

They had time to build prisons in the Negative Zone and build an evil robot clone of Thor, but they had not had the time to reassemble one of their friends. Jonas tried not to scowl too deeply, but he knew he had not succeeded in keeping the change of expression off his face entirely.

"No..." That had to be an alternate version of the man she knew, the man she'd married. Had to be. "How did this happen? When did it happen?"

He really, really should have worn a hologram and pretended to be Nate.

"[The situation was very complicated, and I am not aware of precisely what happened,]" Jonas said. It was technically true if he stretched, since the Avengers had not been particularly concerned with making full reports when they were disbanded. Then, because he really did not want to be the cause of the Scarlet Witch attempting to warp reality (could she, at the age she was?) he added, "[it is possible that the original Vision is in the Pod Caverns as well. Stacy abducted people from a wide variety of points in time, as I am sure that you can tell.]"

"Tell me." Wanda had to restrain herself from grabbing Jonas's arm. "You must tell me what you know. I want to know if you are from my future or another universe. If we are from the same universe I don't know if my husband..." The thought that he might not be there was terrifying.

"[I could not tell you if we are from the same universe or not,]" Jonas said, taking half a step backward as he did so to put some space between them. "[And as I said, your husband may be whole and undamaged somewhere in the Pod Caverns. The two of you may have been abducted or rescued or whatever we are calling it at the same time.]"

"And I have no way of knowing if you don't tell me more. I don't like this. Why won't you tell me?" Her voice shook but she stood firm.

"[It occurred years after the point in the time stream that you are from,]" Jonas countered. "[The details of the fight would not help you anyway. They may not have even happened anymore, if what the Daligig told us is true.]"

"Even if that is the case I still want to know-" Wanda exhaled sharply and shook her head. "Fine. You obviously don't want to tell me and I'm willing to let you off the hook for now but you will tell me at some point." Something was not right. "Neither of us know if we're from the same universe. Since I can't ask you questions then you will have to ask me."

Jonas sighed. "[The differences in our universes may be in something that has not yet happened for you, but has happened for me. Or in some small detail neither of us would notice the addition or the lack of.]" He spread his hands helplessly. "[What would you have me do, ma'am?]"

"Or it could be a major difference that is obvious." Which was the only sort of alternate universes she had encountered before. "I would have you answer my questions or tell me more about you."

"[All right.]" Jonas pursed his lips. "[I am effectively sixteen, and a member of a team called the Young Avengers. Prior to waking up on board this ship, I had just returned to New York after spending several months traveling the world so as to establish the boundaries of my personality separate from both my predecessor and my 'brother'. I enjoy the Beatles, playing chess, and sneaking my girlfriend out for dates from right under Iron Man's faceplate.]"

Not that it had been particularly hard to do so. A little hacking for information here and a little hologram there, and he had waltzed in and right back out with Cassie. The Initative had been lucky that he was a super hero rather that some sort of villain with intention to harm.

"I thought you said that your brain patterns weren't the same as Vision's- the first Vision's?" She was going to let the rest of the information pass by and in truth the mention of a girlfriend did not seem to bother her.

"[I did say that,]" Jonas agreed. "[And it is true. But establishing your own identity is hard enough without people treating you like Somebody-Else-Junior. I am not anybody-junior.]"

"That makes sense." Wanda nodded. "It would be harder to determine since you didn't have a chance to get to know Vision and..." Wanda paused for a moment, something in her mind clicked. "People were treating you like a junior Vision? Is that why they haven't- when you're from why they haven't..." Reassembled, repaired, fixed. Those words were too... mechanical. You wouldn't think they were used on a person. "Healed Vision?"

"[No, I do not believe that is it,]" Jonas said quickly. "[The Avengers very quickly established that I was not the original Vision. They would not have refused to allow me to join the Avengers if they thought that he and I were the same.]"

Yes, it had been. If Jonas never had to see his predecessor's face frozen in a silent scream ever again...

"[They never gave me a straight answer,]" he said in a forced-casual tone. "[Joining the Young Avengers was ultimately a better choice anyway.]"

He had assumed that they were worried that Kang still had some degree of control over him, but they had never actually said anything. Just kept him locked up in Avengers' Tower until the other Young Avengers had shown up looking for help retrieving Teddy.
