Meet and Greet Part Deux: The Socialing

The new people will find themselves ushered out of Obs Deck, so it can be shot down to the planet again, to pick the crew up. Eventually, the crew members on the mission are brought back up, and the doors open to let the two groups meet.

The newbies are likely not expecting their new crew-mates to come back bearing presents--which some of them are.

[ooc: This time anyone can post in. REMEMBER TO TAG OTHER PEOPLE, THO. This is set after the mission so mission peoples can meet the newbies. Latecomer newbies, if you want, you can just tag your guys into this one to make things easier.]

Aeneas nodded slowly, head bobbing in jerky spasms from his exhaustion. Admittedly this term that the humans kept using—‘Christmas’—meant absolutely nothing to the alien, especially after hearing Holly’s explanation (”http://community.livejournal.com/trans_9/219549.html?thread=17050013#t17050013”) of the holiday and where it stemmed. But rather than making him skeptical or spiteful that he had to participate in such matters, it only served to give it a much deeper purpose than what more informed sentients might have gleaned.

The creature busied himself with these thoughts mainly to keep his mind off the fact that he was currently pulling out bits of sugar and peppermint candy out of his skin. ”It could be a lot worse,” Aeneas tried to convince himself half-heartedly, ”Besides, it gives us a reason to go visit Medbay. Haven’t looked around there much.”

But then again, perhaps that wouldn’t be an issue any longer.

Aeneas instinctively flinched as the pink tendrils of magic flowed through his open wounds. Not that it was painful or frightening—just…weird. Eventually the alien was unable to keep watching the bizarre energy fix his injuries, so he abruptly shifted his gaze at the floor.

“…Matt, I owe you an apology.”

"Oh? Whatever for Aeneas?" inquired Matt as he played his hand across his friend's shoulder. He continued to heal his friend and wore an easy grin on his face.

His shoulder, badly swollen and being gently cradled by its owner, instantly relaxed and softened as a wave of heat washed over it. Aeneas breathed a heavy sigh as his pain was instantly lessened.

“I…I didn’t believe you earlier,” the alien admitted hesitantly, averting his gaze out of embarrassment this time instead of discomfort, “You know. About…this ‘magic’ concept.”

He watched as a pink tendril arched over his chest and sealed up a laceration at the base of his neck.

“…Clearly it was I who was ignorant, not yourself. I feel bad for having not trusted your word.”

"No, you have nothing to apologize for Aeneas," said Matt softly. "You and I, we're friends. Friends don't have to apologize for conflicting knowledge, only apologize for when we wrong each other. You didn't believe in magic but now you do. That's nothing to apologize for, but to learn and grow."

He smiled at his friend as he continued to heal and treat his wounds. "Merry Christmas Aeneas. This has been the most fun I've had in ages."

Aeneas sighed since he had little else to say or express—apart from perhaps extreme gratitude for Matt’s understanding and willingness to put up with him, but that should be apparent in the slow, unwavering blink the creature gave him.

Then he lay his torso on the ground and closed his eyes.

“…Would it have been as fun without the robot attack?” Aeneas chuckled with a slight ruffling of his feathers after the pause.

Matt laughed lightly as he continued to heal his friend. "Maybe. But then again I've been something of an adrenaline junkie. Sometimes a little danger gets my blood flowing."

"But despite this? I think this was one of the best holidays I've had yet, spending time with friends."
