Meet and Greet Part Deux: The Socialing

The new people will find themselves ushered out of Obs Deck, so it can be shot down to the planet again, to pick the crew up. Eventually, the crew members on the mission are brought back up, and the doors open to let the two groups meet.

The newbies are likely not expecting their new crew-mates to come back bearing presents--which some of them are.

[ooc: This time anyone can post in. REMEMBER TO TAG OTHER PEOPLE, THO. This is set after the mission so mission peoples can meet the newbies. Latecomer newbies, if you want, you can just tag your guys into this one to make things easier.]

"Geez, lasers?" Katara yelped, then cleared her voice. No point in getting mad about it anyway. It was those stupid agent at Macrowhatever that had attacked Matt in the first place. She was glad she did her part in making sure that it would be harder to get people under their control.

Katara covered her face from the sudden rise in intense heat. "Matt, come on, you didn't have to..." But there was still a part of Katara that was still a kid, and she opened the package eagerly.

Katara took the vial and examined it carefully. "It looks almost like the water from the Spirit Oasis," she murmured. "I don't know much about magic, that was more Aang's thing, but since I can heal with water to begin with, this will definitely help. Matt, thank you so much, I have to get a gift for you soon, just you wait! Thank you so much for this, its beautiful!"

Matt blushed as he rubbed the back of his head. "Aww it wasn't much, but I figured simple useful gifts would be the best thing to give right now."

"And thanks, for being a friend. To me, that's all I need right now." said Matt with a wide grin.

Katara smiled. "I didn't even need anything, but I'm really glad you got it anyway. I'm beginning to really be jealous of Will now. Speaking of which, what did you get her? I have to know!"

At that, Katara flashed him a grin. "That much I can give. To tell you the truth, that's the best gift I've had by far: lots of great friends."

Matt grinned as he reached into his pocket and pulled out an amulet. "This. I've yet to wrap it but it's symbolic. Green, Red, White, Blue, Pink stones in a star format with a pearl in the middle. It symbolizes the Guardians and myself."

He smiled as he presented the gemstoned amulet to Katara. "I saw it and thought to myself it needed to be done."

"It's very pretty," Katara commented, "But I think its the significance that will really win Will over! I mean, I think reminders of our world, no matter how much we miss them, are important. That, and I think this will also signify your devotion to her. You, sir, are the best boyfriend ever!"

Wow, he was really attentive to Will. It made her happy that he had pod popped. It was the best thing possible for Will, and for him.

Matt grinned as he rubbed his head bashfully. "Yeah, I'm hoping that the significance will mean a lot to her. And thanks Katara, this only makes me want to find your boyfriend sooner. You have my promise."

Aeneas trilled lightly, hardly aware of the conversation going on around him; then he went back to sleep.

"I know it will," Katara said, smiling. "I know there are a lot of girls who want expensive things, trinkets to show off, that sort of thing. But girls like Will and I, we want something meaningful, something that really brings out what two people mean to each other. And you guys are just so..."

Here, without knowing it, Katara teared up, and she wiped her eyes. "It makes me remember that love finds a way, always. You don't know how much that means when you're looking for that person you care for. Thank you, so much!"

Matt smiled, and offered a red handkerchief from his uniform to Katara. "It really does. It's the thing that I love the most about her. And I swear to you we'll find him. Trust me."

Katara gladly took the handkerchief and dabbed her face. "I know it is. Will is definitely a one of a kind girl. You guys are lucky. I just hope he...he isn't hurt too much, that they didn't take the things that made him who he is away. Because if that happened..." And here, Katara's mood darkened. "I will never let them get away with it."

"I understand. I wouldn't forgive anyone if they took away what made Will, Will." His hand clenched and he let out a shuddering sigh. "Let's give this creature hell and bring back our friends and loved ones."

Katara nodded. "I don't like to get this way often, and I know its not a good thing to do it, but they've already messed with his memory and done things to him, Will. If they've changed him from the boy I know and love, I won't forgive them."

Matt nodded, a slight scowl in his expression. "When time is in trouble / all you can do is pray / thunder roars lightning flashes / and all you do today / Is believe..."

He smiled said, "It's a new original piece I'm working on as well, to lighten the mood."

Katara paused, and her angry expression evaporated immediately. "It's really nice, Matt. You really are talented!"

Katara grinned. "Will is so blessed to have you Matt. I almost wished I played an instrument.

"I could teach you," said Matt, sporting a little grin. "With the sensoriums I've got an infinite amount of musical instruments. When we have some down time, I could teach you what I know. I usually play the guitar but I know several other instruments."

Katara shook her head. "Oh, no way. With all of the things I'm doing, it would probably burn me through! But thank you for offering. I think I'll just be content to be one of your fans, okay?"

Because truthfully, she loved just sitting and hearing the music.

Matt grinned. "All right, and sometimes yeah it's a good thing to just sit back and relax and listen."

Raising his voice he started to sing.

Snow has fallen, leaves under the white
Scattered all around, no end in sight
Christmas was upon us, New Years has past
come on then, lets have a blast...

He grinned and started to sing louder.

And its the holidays all the time for cheer
come and save us, this yuletide year
here and rejoice, our love and our friends
yes it's the holidays and there's no time for it to end

Our spirits to heaven, and love all abounds
those people we find and those who we seek
lets give it our all and what do we need?

Katara closed her eyes here and relaxed to the floor, letting the music and the words wash over her. The words were pretty, and they were certainly moving. They made her think of being back in Baghdad, in the Philippines, even in the UK. The religion was different, but the love, the sharing, all of that was the same. And so the performance moved her, and after he was done she gave her a beaming smile.

"That was wonderful, Matt. I'm sure she'll like it."

Matt flushed and bowed, his smile reaching his eyes. "I've been writing a lot of songs in my mind lately. The season is good for it. And it's one of those fun songs and I'm sure I can write more when the time allows."

"It suits the season, yes," Katara said, "But its also a nice sentiment too. I just hope you get the time that you need. And make sure you keep an eye on Will too."

She leaned back, closing her eyes.

"I will. You can count on it," smiled Matt with a grin.
