Meet and Greet Part Deux: The Socialing

The new people will find themselves ushered out of Obs Deck, so it can be shot down to the planet again, to pick the crew up. Eventually, the crew members on the mission are brought back up, and the doors open to let the two groups meet.

The newbies are likely not expecting their new crew-mates to come back bearing presents--which some of them are.

[ooc: This time anyone can post in. REMEMBER TO TAG OTHER PEOPLE, THO. This is set after the mission so mission peoples can meet the newbies. Latecomer newbies, if you want, you can just tag your guys into this one to make things easier.]

So unlike Drake, she knows who he is, and that he's Robin.

And everything he's done. Even the things he'd rather not be known.

"You're going to ruin everything."

She had expected Damien's usual penchant for sarcasm that he displayed when speaking with her. She had known for a long time now that he was violent and easily set off by his rage. Hell, Stephanie even knew from the beginning that he disliked her and would rather still see Cassandra as Batgirl.

But the flat out statement saying that she'd ruin everything actually stung the young woman a little. Was she really that untrustworthy that a kid like him could pick up on it?

"I won't ruin things. I've been doing a lot of good lately."

"Is that what they call it? I thought you'd just been screwing up more. Encasing more competent heroes in blocks of ice." He scowled. But he wasn't actually here to argue about that.

Damian stepped closer and stood on tip toe to reach her ear. "Drake is from the past," he hissed. "Before he met me. Before he learned of your deception."

[identity profile] not-a-spoiler.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, and there was the guilt. Sure, she had accidentally encased the kid in ice, but it wasn't on purpose! Did a silly mistake like that put her on the failure list for life?

Just as she opened her mouth to toss back a witty reply, she felt Damien moving closer, whispering. Despite her shock, she managed to keep her voice down for a reply. "W-what? From the past? What does that mean?"

"Didn't someone fill you in? We're on a mission to save all reality. That includes past, present and future. Drake's not insane yet. And," he paused for a moment. "Father's here. And alive."

[identity profile] not-a-spoiler.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Stephanie may not have always had a good grasp on her emotions, but at that moment, she doubted anyone from her future would have been able to contain their surprise at that statement.

"What? A-alive? You mean because he's from the past? Someone has to warn him!"

[identity profile] better-robin.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
He shook his head. "He knows. Apparently it has already happened and--" he screwed up his face. He really hated admitting this. "Drake's right. But that's not what's important. Do not tell Drake too much about the future." Especially that Damian had tried to kill him.

Tim had been right.

The blow was harder than Stephanie expected. Bruce had somehow lived. She'd written everything he had said off due to the sadness he must have been feeling at Bruce's death.

Tim really was the world's greatest detective.

"I won't...Wow, this is a lot to take in."

[identity profile] better-robin.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 10:20 am (UTC)(link)
Damian rolled his eyes. "Yes, it's all very amazing and fantastic and oh golly gee, the ship's alive. Could you stop gawping? It's rather boring. Honestly, it didn't take me nearly this long to adjust." Yes it had, but he was better at hiding it. And she hadn't been there and didn't have to know.

[identity profile] not-a-spoiler.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not something that would have ever crossed her mind, because even if the kid is a prick, he's earned a bit of her respect already. "Alright, alright! I got it. Geez, nothing ever fazes you, huh, Damien?"

[identity profile] better-robin.livejournal.com 2010-01-10 08:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Not particularly." He shrugged nonchalantly. "Just hold your tongue when you're talking to Drake. He doesn't need to know too much about the future."

[identity profile] not-a-spoiler.livejournal.com 2010-01-10 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Though Stephanie was well acquainted with her usually failing conscience, telling Tim the entire truth hadn't even occurred to her. He would be much happier here not knowing about the things that would happen in the future back at home. The things she would put him through.

Lying may have seemed wrong to anyone else, but Stephanie saw nothing wrong with keeping pain from someone she cared about. It was entirely too easy for her to lie.

"Got it. I won't say a word."

"Good." If she didn't want any explanation of Damian's motives, he saw no reason to give her any. "And do try to make more trouble for our foes than for us. If you are at all capable of it."

Luckily, Stephanie was already waiting for that blow. She met it with a smile.

"Don't worry about me. I won't cause any trouble."

She had already resolved to be helpful, no matter what it took. Unfortunately, the young woman didn't seem to understand that despite her best efforts, trouble was usually all she caused.
