Do swords make it dangerous, or just interesting? [Closed]
As usual, Static really hadn't thought this whole thing through. They were going to meet, here, after training. That was basic; it made sense. They'd given each other some time to head back, clean up after the horrific spectacle that was Super-powered Rugby... who won and who lost was obviously not an issue, since no one was really sure what happened (obviously, the rules of the sport should have been explained beforehand). It was going to be casual, that much they'd set up. He had his disc charged and ready to take them on a nice fly around the city, maybe through some other areas of the ship.
That was really as far as he planned.
It was now occurring to him, five minutes before they'd agreed to meet, that he should have though about her weapon situation; she had swords and a fear of heights. This could end very, very badly. Not that bad endings were unusual to Static, but still, that didn't make them something he enjoyed.
He adjusted the nice shirt he'd dug out of storage (whoever it'd belonged to before, it fit him well enough), and checked his breath one more time.
"Well, here goes nothing..." Virgil said to himself with a sigh. It was do or die time.

She'd gone from the workout to the showers, wondering what exactly was appropriate for tonight. Another concept she was not fluent with...appropriate. What did that mean for her, for Virg? She found herself actually wishing she could run into someone like Nanoha for advice.
She'd swiped a pair of jeans and a button up shirt from storage the last time she was on the ship. So the clothes had been with her things this time. And really anything was better than a plant suit. Rose finished getting ready, giving her reflection a glare for the thin scars and the absence of one eye.
How could he honestly like her? For anything else Virg was a good guy, he'd proven it over and over. If the Titans had taught her anything it was how people like her didn't necessarily belong with the good guys. Still...she liked him, liked him enough to be worried about this sort of thing.
"Shit." Maybe she could still call it off, maybe it wasn't too late. Rose jogged down to the lobby to meet up with Virgil, stopping short when she spotted him. "Wow, you look..... really good."
no subject
"Hey, glad you made it. You look fantastic yourself." He wasn't lying; it'd been a long time since he'd seen her in something that wasn't plant-based or scale mail, and the look was damn nice. It was...humanizing; they weren't costumed heroes for once; they were just a guy and a girl. Normal.
Well, normal in context.
"Still up for that flight around the city? Or did you want to go somewhere else? I hadn't really made much of a plan here..." Virgil's nerves were beginning to get the best of him. He was never good at this stuff. Helping other people? That he could do. But when you were involved, things changed.

"Thanks, well we did have a date. Kinda thought it would be a bad way to start things, standing you up I mean." Sarcastic wit, it was what she used to make herself more comfortable. Hopefully Static would get that about her, he did know her after all. He knew her in a teammate sense, they had fought each other on both sides of things before but this was something completely different.
"Yeah, I don't have my parachute though, so if you drop me..." The joking threat let to hang there even though she smiled it off. He looked worried though and she winced, great time for a joke like that Rose. She shrugged and reached to stroke a quick touch across his cheek, this time her smile was softer, less hard edged. "I don't think either one of us are real planners, Virg. So let's just have a good time and not worry about the plan, ok?"
no subject
He hopped up onto the board and held out his hand. "C'mon, let me show you just how nice this place can be."
no subject
"Ok, if I trust you now, you have to trust me later. Deal?" She wasn't in a particularly strong bargaining position, but Virg wasn't exactly the sort of guy who would deny her request.
no subject
He thought it would be best to star off easy and slow. They rose steadily, first one foot, then another, until they were about twenty feet of the ground. Then he tilted to board forward just alittle bit and they started moving, forward and up.
He'd chosen this spot for a reason. Plenty of area to move gradually; no tight turns just yet, and no real speed.
That'd come later, when she was a bit more comfortable. Like, in another five minutes. For now, he was just going to enjoy having her this close.

Her grip tightened as she wobbled with the rise into the air, but true to his word Virg held her safely on the board. After a moment she relaxed able to look down and see the street fading away beneath them. There was a sense of wonder in this form of flight.
"This must be so ordinary for you; flying, powers being a hero. It's all still pretty new to me." She unconsciously smiled as she looked around, her death grip easing up to a warm hold around him. "But I gotta say I am kinda liking it."
no subject
"No. It never gets old. It doesn't matter how many times I fly over the same area, it's never the same twice. Different height, speed, season, time or day... something's always different, always off from what it was before. But it's always mysterious and beautiful." His eyes drifted from the scenery to her.
"It's a lot like you that way."
Corny, but appropriate.

Rose's jaw slacked, once again since her reawakening on the ship she was faced with someone giving her an honest emotion with no ulterior motive. She had so little experience with genuine feelings that she often reacted in ways that might not be considered appropriate by people who were...well..normal.
But..he was just so sweet, so utterly kind and nice and...Her hands moved in an instant, forgetting her fear she let go long enough to wrap arms around his neck and draw up tight against him. "That's the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me."
Hang on Virg. Her lips found his, what she lacked in words to reply she more than made up for with a kiss that was intended to curl his toes.
no subject
Such was the case with Virgil and the amazing toe-curling kiss. What once was flight quickly turned into a good ten feet of 'plummet like stone' followed by the ever important 'fix it without disengaging the kiss' move that everyone has employed at some point or another, be the problem flight, swerving while driving, or making toast.
Speaking of swerving, his recover had no small amount of that. It was a good thing no one was looking, or they'd probably try to arrest hi for flying under the influence.
And Virgil, ever the master of obvious, could use but one word to describe the great personal elation of the moment.
"Wow."
no subject
She might have had to give him major credit had she been aware of the effort involved in keeping them up, keeping them steady and returning the affectionate embrace. Perhaps it was more to his benefit that she was simply impressed by the 'kiss' itself and it's dizzying effects.
"Yeah. Definite wow."
no subject
He cleared his throat to try and give himself a bit of focus. She was... wow.
Virgil opened his mouth to say something, but whatever it was just fell off his tongue. Words didn't match up to it. All thought trains have officially been delayed due to snow on the tracks, it seemed.
Then, the only appropriate thing finally hit him; she's caused a rise in one set of hormones, so why not set off some others himself? A slow smile showed up on his face.
"So, seeing as you're now a captive audience trapped in my web..."
That was all the warning she was getting before he blasted off, taking them higher, right around 76 mph.
no subject
Rose clutched tightly to Virg, arms wrapped around his torso, head burried into his shoulder. Her one good eye hidden completely away from the blur of scenery that was whizzing past them.
He wanted to set off some hormones, her was definately doing that.
no subject
He was greatly enjoying this whole thing; He got to share something he loved, and as a reward, see the odd feminine side of Rose that no one ever got to see (well, not without harsh consequence, anyway).
He pulled her tight and adjusted how he was standing just a little bit to try and force her to see. But, obviously, that wasn't going to work; she only had to block one eye.
So he did the next best thing - A barrel roll.
no subject
So Static was breaking down that wall of tuff chick that Rose tended to wear like armor. Few people ever got a peek let alone prolonged interaction with the softer Rose Wilson.
Virgil took control of the situation, yet another oddity with a date with the white haired warrior. She was usual in control, used the guy for whatever she could and kicked him to the curb after. No strings, no attachments. He was shaking up things for her and the mixture of being in someone else's hands literally and figuratively was definitely having an effect on her.
When he entered into the barrel roll she gasped and clung to him, slowly, but gaining in volume, Rose began to laugh.
no subject
He was probably going to pay for this later, but why not enjoy it while he could? It was a blast having her out here, and making he laugh? The cherry.

Cautiously she angled her body around, turning her back to his chest so she could get a better view of things. That whole lack of field of vision she dealt with ok battle, but for sight seeing she had to work at it a bit.
"I never realized how this place really could look. So different up here like this." She tugged one of his arms tight around her waist, this time more for affection than security, her feet found more stability on the disc and her lithe body was taking to the motion with fair ease.
"Ok....this is pretty damn cool." She turned half over her shoulder to grin at him, and then it turned devilish. "Can you go faster?"
no subject
He breathed deeply, readying himself for this. He'd only ever done this kind of speed with one passenger before, and that's because she'd just been shot. It wasn't going to be easy to avoid burning out at 100.
"But, your wish is my command." And so he pushed it, as hard as he could. They took off with a bit of a shock, and no small chance for whiplash.
no subject
Her head turned back, hair whipping int he wind created by their speed. Nose bumped along Static's cheek as she spoke loud enough to be heard over the roar of sound in his ear. "You know..I have to admit, this is kinda hot."
no subject
"As much as I do love to see you having fun, I don't think I can keep the pace up for too long, Rose." He sent them into a double, then a triple barrel roll and pulled a few other moves he called 'what I've learned from roller coasters' before he started to slow down a bit. Not much, but just like when you took your foot off the gas in a car, they began to loose speed. It was really either slow down or crash.
no subject
When he slowed down, and seemed in more conscious control of what he was doing she offered him a mock pout, her voice silky in his ear. "You know.... we really need to work on your endurance."
no subject
"Of course, we'll have to practice later... Right now, I need to hit the showers. Someone's given me cause to get all sweaty."
no subject
"I think you can hold up with endurance, I have faith in you. And hey, if not we'll just have to put in some serious training time won't we?"
no subject
"I'll make sure to schedule lots of time for training with you when I'm doing the bookkeeping for the team next week. Lots and lots of time." All things considered, this had been most likely the best time he'd had since he got onto the ship. No way was he not going to do it again.
no subject
"So we're really gonna do this huh?" She looked at him, and his look of surprise lead her to clarify. "The Outsiders I mean, a team of our own. With our own rules and none of the shiny happy heroes telling us what to do." The rest? Oh hell yes they were going to be doing that.
no subject
"Yeah, we are. I mean, we're still going to have rules... Like I don't want any of us killing unless we really, really have to. Frankly, I'd like to avoid bloodshed as much as possible, 'cause I'm finding more often than not it's mine." He shrugged. "I'm just hoping I can really get the charter to slide past command well enough that they'll leave us alone and we can actually do things our way."
no subject
This date had been unique and it had shown her Virg had a lot more going on then anyone else saw. He tried to be so controlled all the time and yet he could cut loose. He had a spark of something not so squeaky clean that attracted her like a magnet.
"You know, I have all sorts of close quarters combat skills. I can be very valuable to the team, not to mention the team leader." Yeah she was still used to having to prove herself and her worth, it showed now and then.
no subject
There were a number of rather dirty comments he thought of he could say, but none of them seemed to capture the moment just right. So, instead he went with an old standby; say nothing at all.
Of course, that was until she commented on her skills. That was an opening he couldn't ignore.
"What, you think I don't know that? Just because I won doesn't mean you don't have skill. I've seen enough unconscious goons to know that. On the other hand, I do always enjoy personal demonstrations..." If there was one person she didn't actually have to prove anything to, it was him. She'd saved his life, after all. Not alone, but still.
