Department Meeting [Mainly for Security, but OPEN to everyone]

Leon had called for a full staff meeting for the Security team, though it was also open to whoever else wanted to attend. He had gone easy on his group since the Bridge mission, mostly giving them time to rest, recover, and deal with the things they've all been told. But now it was time to start moving forward again.

The meeting was being held in the Precinct, in one of the larger conference rooms. He gave time for people to file in and sit down where they would. Once everyone was settled, he addressed the group.

"First of all, thank you all for coming. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Special Agent Leon S. Kennedy, from the United States Strategic Command, and current Chief of Security here about Transmigration 9.

"A couple of weeks ago, we all learned some startling information. That our worlds were gone, destroyed by the Ohm, and we're all that remains. That we've been chosen to travel across the multiverse to fight the Ohm, save what remains, and possibly restore what was lost.

"All of that may or may not be true, and we have people working to verify that one way or another. The only thing we know for sure is that, unfortunately, we're all stuck here for a while.

"Because of that, there'll be a few changes around here, most of which you'll hear straight from the Captain and the Commanding Officers in the coming days. As for this department in specific...

"Security was formed with the intent to be the first line of defense for this crew; to protect them from any threats on this ship, and sometimes to protect them from each other. That hasn't changed, and never will. How we operate is going to change, however.

"For the most part, we've taken a defensive posture, waiting for something to go wrong before we deal with it. But a Fix on Fail strategy isn't going to work anymore. Now, before you get started, no, we are not going to start hunting down and locking up crew members who may be a problem someday maybe." He wanted to be clear on that point, particularly with a crew as prone to kneejerk reactions as this one. "But, acid spitting roaches, one of which was crossbred with an Ohm; a variety of class 4 viral and biological weapons, all gathered in a failed experiment to create a biological weapon to annihilate the Ohm; the Nightmare King trapped in Escherville; HAL 9000; the Yeerks... these are all threats that originated on board. Things that were left behind when the previous crew abandoned ship.

"We need to find out what else they left behind; what other experiments they had going that have been left unattended for God knows how long. To that end, we need to root through every section of this ship, search it from stem to stern to locate and deal with these problems. We'll also be working with Engineering and Neuropathy to locate threats and malicious programs in the computer systems.

"In addition, we're also going to be expanding our duties to become a full blown Emergency Services Unit. We have to be able to deal with everything from heated arguments and hazmat spills to heart attacks and hull breaches. Some people here would be better suited for certain tasks than others, but everyone will crosstrained in a number of disciplines. I don't want to be caught short handed because we only had a few people trained to handle, say, hazmat spills, happened to be on an away mission, or were busy running through a maze, looking for cake.

"As for dealing with the crew themselves, Stacy has generally handled that, but we do have a bit more leeway now. We can interfere physically in conflicts between crew members without worrying about violations, provided you're not using excessive force. If you feel the behavior of a crew member has warranted something more than just a violation, you can haul them down to the brig where they can sit and cool off for a day or two, and any other additional penalties will be handed down by senior command, if necessary." Because that whole trial thing worked out ever so well last time.

"We have a lot of work to do, people. None of us want to be stuck here, but so long as we are, we need to make sure everyone stays as safe as possible."

((OOC: Beneath the two subthreads, people are free to talk to each other and free thread however they wish.))

"How do we plan on effectively searching the entire ship?" Samus asked. She was not contesting his authority. She was simply asking a question, but those not used to her straightforwardness might see it that way.

"I'm actuall trained in, well, all of those disciplines myself. If you need anyone to assist with the training, I'm more than willing to help out."

Mal showed up at the location of the meeting, looking around him with a wary eye. The message he'd read had said people who were interested could attend, but he still felt oddly out of place.

He looked around for someone who appeared knowledgeable and in charge of proceedings, and directed a question at the first person he spotted. "I might be interested in signin' up for patrols or whatever else you think you need. What would I have to do?"

"I'm curious," spoke up a little girl that hadn't seemed to be there before, but certainly was now. "I have spoken to the Captain of the ship, and he seemed sure he would not designate a separate faction to investigating and eradicating threats to the ship. If this is the case, what will you do to alleviate the fear of people within the ship causing trouble for the others?"

Here Alessa stared impassively. She gave nothing away by her expression.

The creature’s head nervously poked in from around the edge, a sheepish smile gracing his brow as he spotted the assertive human male across the room. Good; he had time. He hoped.

“Eh—excuse me…you are Special Agent Leon S. Kennedy, correct?”

He waved, a little embarrassed.

“My na—erm, you may call me Aeneas. May I…request something?”

Samus actually had one other issue she needed to discuss with Leon regarding a certain AI. While most didn't see mistletoe as an urgent matter of ship security, Samus was paranoid thought otherwise. However, she felt these concerns might be better discussed privately.

There she was, knocking if only for some semblance of politeness.

There was something that had been tugging on Chris' mind for a while now. Not only after the realization that some of the crew had been put back into podsleep after being infected or otherwise experimented on. It wasn't in Leon's official report, but was mentioned in a supplemental report he saw regarding a follow up exam.

"Hey, got a minute?"

There were experiments here. Things like the zombie infestation that occurred after his arrival. And, in the bottom of his gut, he knew that there there were more.

Worse off, there were some that MAY have came from his world. His past.

He had to let them know. He had to let SOMEONE know. With that, he approached Leon's door and knocked.

Goliath does. After all, he's been looking for the Precinct for a while, and especially this Leon fellow.

There's a knock at Leon's door before it opens to reveal a lone Ronon Dex. Closing the door behind him, he walks up to Leon's desk while trying to read the expression on Leon's face. It's about as undescernable as his probable expression, but that was to be expected.

After a moment of just standing at the desk and staring into Leon's soul sizing up Leon, he finally spoke. "Am I welcome to join the Security team again?"

Nicholas had managed to get directions to the precinct after a few snubs from people around the area. It was all due to his attitude, but he didn't recognize it as such. He made his way there with his notepad in hand, slowly smacking it against his palm as he paced outside the door before turning and rapping on it three times, just as he'd knock on the door of the house of a suspect.

"Police Sergeant Nicholas Angel," he called, immediately feeling a little silly for doing so. This wasn't the Metropolitan; no one here knew him and it wasn't something he needed to do anymore...right?

Chris wasn't very comfortable with divulging this bit of information with Leon or well... anyone who didn't know about the Kamen Riders. But he felt some things should be said, just in case something happened.

"Leon, sir? I need to speak to you about something that may be urgent."

Javert had a steady, firm knock, if a bit on the heavy-handed side.

"Inspecteur Javert."

He always felt it best to announce one's self before entering a room. He seemed to startle people, otherwise.

Nanoha rapped sharply on Leon's door, opening it after a moment and leaning inside.

"Ah... you said you had something you wanted to discuss with me, Mr. Kennedy?"

In Private, and much later

A polite woman would have knocked, and a considerate one would have waited until being invited. Therefore, it should come as no surprise to Leon that Motoko did neither, only opening the door long after the so-insecure and raw line of recruits had exhausted themselves and closing it behind her in a way that did not so much as click the latch.

Hey, you got to give her some credit; she could easily have come in through the window, with thermoptics active, and scared the bejeezus out of him.

"Anything to report?" always to the point, the Major hardly bothered with hellos.
