Unleash the Podlings!

||Pod Release Protocols Initiating,|| Stacy announced to the denizens of the upper levels. Down the the Pod Caverns, familiar sounds made themselves known:

Pop. Pop pop pop. Poppuhpoppoppop. KASCHUNKhiiiiiiiissssss.

Mist sprayed from the cracks in the pods before the new crew members were summarily ejected from warm, comfortable stasis to their new chilly, damp reality. They'd either meet each other in the Caverns or in the upper levels, where the previously popped crew would also be waiting for them, if Stacy had anything to say about it.

This time, there were two pods spitting mechanical beings out of a more oily mixture, and one podling who was significantly smaller than most of the others.

Pop. Poppop. KASCHUNKhiiiiiissss.

She blinked once, twice, and then a third time. Lithe arms curled about her form slowly...glancing around once more, as if looking for the source of the voice.

But she knew better than that...this was...coming from inside of her? How odd! She was used to 'speaking' to being's cells, after all...that is how she made unfortunate things happen to them.

Yet this was quite different.

"...Hm." The utterance was a contemplative noise if anything, falling deep into thought instead of returning the greeting.

"Where am I?" A simple inquiry, yes...but, she thought it was best to start with the basics. Things were oh-so-peculiar at the moment.

[identity profile] primal-eve.livejournal.com 2009-01-31 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
"...The pod caverns," She repeats, voice soft. It was a start, at least.

"And who are you...?"

[identity profile] primal-eve.livejournal.com 2009-01-31 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
For a few moments, she was quiet...likely confused by the myriad of human emotions the name invoked.

"...Stacy. And how do you know of me, Stacy?" A question she was rather curious about...not many knew of her 'true name'.

[identity profile] primal-eve.livejournal.com 2009-01-31 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
That really didn't answer anything at all, it simply increased her curiosity.

Canting her head to the side, blue-green eyes squint off into the distance...not focusing on anything in particular, really.

Thinking.

"...And what do you wish of me?"

[identity profile] primal-eve.livejournal.com 2009-01-31 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
...

Asking questions wasn't going to get her anywhere, or so it seemed.

So the feminine creature lowered herself to the floor, shifting her weight and curling her arms about herself a tad more. She wasn't bothered by the fact that she was naked or covered in slime...right now, the thing that bothered her the most was that she had no clue what was going on.

Oh, and the sheer amount of life thrumming around her.

Hmm.

Once seated, she closed her eyes and fell silent...losing herself in her thoughts.

Breathing shallowly through her mouth, Eve crawled daintily past to an adjacent wall of the ‘clothing area’ and paused. Peering into the hallway, she wasn't sure how, but she knew that between the flood of exuberant life signs she could sense something. Its presence, though not entirely intact, was familiar enough to trigger a flash of memory.

A child suspended in water, next to another with dark red hair, obscure and altered for an unknown purpose. The young human shook her head. It was... curious.

The force seemed to be something that the host couldn't discern, a whisper only meant for her, touching something that came with equal mixture of fear and comfort.

Gingerly standing on her own two feet, she crossed the room, and slowly, very slowly, wandered down the thick fleshy hallway. Finally coming to a sudden stop, she craned her neck past one of the semi translucent pods pausing to listen to his instincts, needing insight.

She couldn’t tell if the being several feet away was the source of the compelling energy, so many things tainting the air, but as she had time to let the better part of her instincts examine the internal emotions, she glanced guardedly over her shoulder. Was she really that safe here?

[identity profile] primal-eve.livejournal.com 2009-01-31 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
Eve was drifting in her thoughts...almost dozing, really. The weight and warmth of so much life around her was almost oppressive. In a situation so unexpected and bizarre, she had no idea how to proceed...There were, of course, the normal survival instincts, but beyond that...

There was a faint, curious tingling along the edge of her senses...it startled her at first. Dainty head canted from one side to the other, lulling loosely against slim shoulders...mind awhirl. Whatever could that be? She inhaled deeply, then let out a low exhale.

'Lashes fluttered, blue-green eyes peering out from behind a fringe of dark lashes...Hm. Something moved.

...Something blonde? Oh.

Pale pink lips tugged upwards, into something between a smile and a smirk. It was a rather hard-to-read expression...but finally settled into a small 'o'.

...Had Aya ended up here as well? They had just been exchanging blows, after all. That would be quite...amusing. Perhaps it would explain the oddness as well...

She cleared her throat softly.

"...Is someone there?" She finally calls out, chalking up her best harmless/defenseless tone. Best to play it safe, for now.

Cementing her place behind the large object, Eve breathed through the waves of panic as she filtered through them. She would -not- scream.

Stilling her own reaction to the voice, Eve’s surface thoughts were scattered, a tinge of paranoia touching them. Between that and the odd feeling of being drawn toward one place of security and another, her feet wouldn’t move.

Finally after a moment’s silence, and equally long inner debate, she pulled what little self control she had together and stepped out from her hiding spot briefly to steal a quick glimpse of the current situation.

[identity profile] primal-eve.livejournal.com 2009-01-31 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
It was likely deja vu from what the girl had just experienced. Eve was sitting on the floor, naked, amidst a pool of the bizarre pod fluid. She hadn't made it very far...not quite up to rushing off into an unknown situation.

As soon as the small humanoid came into view, Eve locked eyes with her. Curious! Very curious...almost familiar. Her head cocked to one side, she blinked once, and then pursed her lips together slowly.

Not wanting to ruin any chances of getting to know why the girl set off her senses so oddly, she refrained from any quick movements or threatening gestures.

She remained seated, and simply stared -- putting on her best friendly smile.

"...Hello...?"

:3 Re-written because I thought it needed it!

While she couldn’t help but have second thoughts, third thoughts, even forth, Eve ultimately ventured out of her self imposed consignment. Placing one foot in front of the other slowly, she skirted around the pod, still perceiving it as a proverbial safety blanket.

Swallowing nervously and drawing ever so slightly closer, abject fear teasing her mind, Eve blinked in confusion at what she saw. Was this woman like Aya? Was she dangerous? Was that what normal people looked like without clothes? Did she come from another part of Neo Ark as well? Was she like her? With her mouth partially open with unstated questions, the small “human” tilted her head, making her own semi-logical assumptions, behind latent awareness.

Then as her eyebrows knitted in suspicion, the younger Eve suddenly locked eyes with her older namesake. She wasn't sure where the line between hope and dangerous delusion was, but her mitochondria had a feeling that they might be getting dangerously close to crossing it. The situation, though seemingly benevolent, required caution.

no problem! <3~

[identity profile] primal-eve.livejournal.com 2009-01-31 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Eve again craned her head to one side...her lips drawing together once more, another little 'o' forming -- then a smile. Her arms drooped to her sides, palms reaching out to press against the fleshy ground. Rising to a stand unsteadily, still mildly at odds with her human form, she absently curled her arms about her torso.

She took a sideways glance at the pods in the room, pursing her lips together. "...You're so young to be alone," She finally mused, her attention returning to the youth. "Did you come from one of those...hm...pods, I think the voice called them, too?" The inquiry was made oh-so-sweetly.

Perhaps this was some sort of unconscious gathering place for mitochondrial creatures? Or a prison...a lab? ...Information classified...hmm.

Eve concealed her deep contemplation with another oh-so-sweet, friendly smile...waiting for a response from the girl.

Perceptive blue eyes narrowed at the woman. Was this Stacy? No - the voice was different. She was speaking to her now. Not like Stacy who preferred a different kind of communication. And when this woman spoke, the voices she had come to understand within shuddered.

“Yes…” she at last replied meekly, after circling the woman in a wary manner, taking each step with cautious precision.

As she came full circle, she stopped, ignoring the unusual feeling of ozze coating her feet. The skeptical look remained, but it was tainted with a sudden tiredness. She had been asleep too long, hurting for too long to be expected to trust anyone yet but there was something familiar about Aya and this woman, something that told her she could have been in safe company – hopefully.

[identity profile] primal-eve.livejournal.com 2009-02-01 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Eve quirked a brow curiously, turning her head to the right and the left as the girl circled her. Towards the latter half of her movements, she started to turn herself--if only to maintain eye contact with the younger female.

"Perhaps we should stick together, then...I have not seen anyone else, yet," She mused, in a soft, contemplative voice.

A pause came and went, before she tagged on:

"You may call me Eve. What shall I refer to you as?" She even leaned forward a bit at the end of the question, dipping her chin towards the girl curiously.

[identity profile] neomite.livejournal.com 2009-02-01 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
“Eve…” she blurted out as if following through on some instinctual responce.

Stick together? Eve? Was this another test? Did she come from Neo Ark?

Stealing a nervous glance over her shoulder, the girl found the pools of yellow light near where she had entered the room even dimmer than he remembered. Scanning the nearly fleshy pathways for movement, she still felt the icy wind brushing against her legs like waves. She rubbed her hands nervously along the sides of her leafy green attire and gulped.

Looking back to the older woman, she pursed her lips sadly, as blue eyes tried to hide the confusion behind disbelief. “W…What happened to Neo Ark?"

[identity profile] primal-eve.livejournal.com 2009-02-01 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
"...You are Eve as well..." She commented absently, half for clarification, half to herself out of amusement and/or amazement. Perhaps that was the explanation of the odd sensation she got from the youth. Unsteady footsteps carried her forward, one after the other...

Finally stopping in front of the little Eve, she slumped forward just so, a slick palm raised to settle against her cheek in an almost motherly fashion. Nevermind that it was still somewhat slick from the pod fluids.

"Yes. I think we should stick together. There is no telling what might happen, as to where this place is or why we are here is a mystery...." She paused, smiling whilst craning her head to the side.

"...Neo Ark...?" She echoed the foreign name, arching a brow.

The solid contact of the woman’s hand stilled her for a moment. It tingled for a brief second, as if human affection wasn’t the only contact being made. Soon enough however, it faded and in its place the young girl felt an eerie warmth, her own inner force now merely observing the situation, with cautious optimism.

Was this Eve like the people from Dryfeild? Maybe she, like the others who had been taken in and given the opportunity to ‘evolve’ only had a very fundamental understanding.

With a tenderly hopeful look in her eyes she raised her own palm to rest on the woman’s hand, clasping her own small fingers around hers apprehensively.

“Eve..?” Her younger name sake asked apprehensively. “Why do we have the same name?”

[identity profile] primal-eve.livejournal.com 2009-02-01 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
Eve's eyelids fluttered and fell shut for a few moments as she took in the faint warmth...a small shudder came and went, quickly succeeded by a wide smile; a rather satisfied expression. For a few scant moments, the air around her seemed to thrum to life...coils of heat reaching out into the empty space around her, almost around the younger female but not in a threatening manner...instead, it was quite the opposite: more protective and motherly than anything else.

As quick as it started though, it was gone.

She cocked her head to one side, withdrawing her hand from the girl's cheek, to twine her fingers together with the little Eve's own...clicking her tongue softly.

"Perhaps it is because we are both very special, hmm?"

[identity profile] neomite.livejournal.com 2009-02-01 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
In the back of her mind Eve’s instincts, though apparently nothing compared to what they could be, sensed an uneasiness coming from within. Special? She had been categorized like that before by someone she didn’t care to think about. Simple deduction however was seized by a well meaning inner influence, altering certain thoughts to reflect a kinder outcome. An outcome where whomever this Eve was, she was essentially just like herself.

Behind the appearance of a confused little girl, Eve’s eyes lit up. She was still sensitive about the events that led up to her current predicament, but there was something slowly sinking in, something that made her smile. And with that thin but appreciative smile the girl used her free hand to best draw the woman’s arm into a warm heartfelt embrace.

[identity profile] primal-eve.livejournal.com 2009-02-01 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
She chuckled softly...a lilting, almost musical noise that rumbled from deep within her throat. Her free arm raised slowly to pull the girl into a gentle hug. After a few moments she let her go, petting at her hair affectionately.

"Yes," The word was spoken for no particular reason -- likely just reinforcing the dynamic that was going on between them at a cellular level.

She smiled down at little Eve and cooed.

"...Perhaps..." She began quietly, taking a slow glance around them -- at the various pods still occupied, the fleshy ground and hall that was presumably the cavern's exit.

"We should explore a bit. I still have no idea what is going on, and...knowledge is power, isn't it darling?"
