Pikachu had been firing bolt after bolt into the crowd, and still he hadn't felt like a dent had been made. He was getting tired, and his footing was rather unsteady. From his perch on the roof, he turned, glancing up at Lafiel before he noticed it (http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/2008/basic02070529a.jpg). It was floating above her head, glowing, and it seemed to be calling to him somehow. Though he had no idea what it was, he felt a sudden instinctive urge concerning it.

Without another moment of hesitation, Pikachu leaped up and over Lafiel, swinging his tail in a wicked spin, shattering the ball. There was a flash of light, almost blinding, and then Pikachu drifted softly to the rooftop once more, feeling energized and ... changed by the orb he destroyed.

When he landed, he turned to regard the Abh woman, barely noticing the golden aura that now surrounded him. "Pika pikachu," he said, letting the young woman know that she might want to step clear of him.

"Piiiiii pi pi pipipipipipipipipipipi..." Pikachu's quick pants became faster and much more staccato as he charged down off the roof and into the thick of the zombie horde. The longer he ran, the more his aura grew and surrounded him, trailing behind him and making the electric mouse look like a comet made of lightning. More energy built, crackling at the edges of the trail until Pikachu finally leaped and slammed down into a crowd of the undead monstrosities like a living bullet.

"PiiiiiKA!"

The resulting explosion easily cleared away over twenty of the zombies, and when the blinding flash of light finally faded, Pikachu was standing in the middle of an empty clearing, surrounded by ash and dust. Still more zombies were pouring in, however, and the Pokemon was now winded and almost out of energy.

Lafiel was astonished. The creature was engulfed in energy from that floating orb, like a freshly loaded tactical mine. It was blindingly bright. She could not even focus enough to provide him with cover, not that he needed it.

She saw him seem to deflate as the blast left him. She cursed in Baronh, scrambled down the rooftop and jumped the last couple meters. Her legs burned (amhirgeth gravity!) in her crouch. Klanyu drawn, she sprinted towards the pokemon.

Normally, of course, she would have let him go. Human losses were acceptable. But Pikachu was different.

Pikachu was a pet. And Lafiel had gone back into a burning ship to retrieve someone else's cat.

Jinnto would not have approved of her leaving him behind.

Immediately though a wall of them moved to block her from her rescuee. She raised the laser pistol and fired. Soundlessly two toppled forwards, neat quarter sized holes sliced through their brains. There were always more. And they just kept coming.

"Pikachu!" She called, trying to get his location amidst the mire.

Pikachu's ear twitched at Lafiel's cry, and he sent out a small jolt of electricity, knocking a zombie back. He was panting, sucking in air from exhaustion. That attack had taken every last ounce of energy he had, and it was only a matter of time before he passed out or was Trophied. "Pi-- pika pika!" he shouted, or tried. His throat was dry, and it came out more like a weak squeak than anything.

Then, he saw her. Fighting off the temptation to pass out then and there, he dropped once more to all fours and loped after her, running as fast as he could to get to her. "Chaaa!" he shouted, his squeaking voice nearly cracking from the strain.
