Quarantine 1 Opens...
Stacy jerks and shudders to a sudden stop, likely upsetting more than a few things already upset because the comms have stopped working. And deep down inside Stacy, on the first level, a little section thoughtfully titled "Contagion Containment and Quarantine" spilled open.
Hal 9000 had opened it up. And the things that had been kept there were still alive.
Or at least, they were moving...
Their groans echoed through the lower level as they spilled out of Quarantine 1, shambling and shuffling toward the Hub. The Hub would take them where they wanted to go. And what they wanted to do first was make some new friends.
So they went to the Pod Caverns. Then, after that, the zombies started heading up to the City...

"I will be with them anyway as I deliver food, sir." Lafiel tells the human captain.
Re: Ominous Thunder
He staggers, managing to brace himself on the wall without slamming into it. When the shuddering stops, he straightens, eying the building again. Not shaken, good. He's heading around for another check when a request for runners finally draws his attention away from the architecture.
It takes him a moment or two to figure out where the voices are coming from, and he rounds the corner a little late. "I'll help," he offers anyhow.
Outside
FWOOM. BAMM.
Fortunately, the suit was built to withstand much more than just the impact of it slamming into stone walls. It does take a few long moments, though, for it to lumber to its feet again and slide away. Jog. Run. Bounce. There doesn't seem to be any lasting impact right now, though that may well leave a heck of a bruise later.
"" asks an amplified voice loud enough to be heard on the roof and past the doors, as Meluly zips back towards the front of the Basilica.
Re: Outside
Then she heard the voice and looked down from the roof. "Um..." she looked around. "I think everyone's fine up here!" She shouted down.

And so, focus he did.
Goddammit, she's beautiful. If we weren't in the middle of what could possibly turn into a standoff to determine whether or not we survive, I would be all over a backroom tryst.
He eyed her backside when she was distracted, shaking his head.
If there's a god out there, I'm begging you, feel sorry for Luis for once and just give me something to make all this bullshit worthwhile...
Suddenly everything shifted and Luis was thrown off balance, crashing into Scarlet and landing on top of her on the ground.
...Muchas gracias.

Something had happened.
Something big.
"The snowstorm may be need soon," she murmured, pushing herself uptight in her spot, looking at Wednesday as she focused her thoughts on winter again.

Despite sitting on the floor at the time, Ronon had his hands cuffed behind his back. So with no way to stop himself from falling forward, his face got to know the floor.

Re: Ominous Thunder
Just in time for the static. The omnicom wasn't that bad. The ear comm that Batman had handed him, however, went off right against his aural nerves. He cursed under his breath, reaching up to pull it out and close his hand around it while his ear rang.
Shaking his head, Dick pushed back to his feet and looked around. "All right. Everybody to me. Any injuries?" It was going to take a little bit of time for his hearing to come completely back, though. Damn it.

Right Transept
Gauron's got the reflexes of a ninja, so at least he's not prying himself back out of a shattered ammo crate - but the sudden loss of the comm band is a lot more problematic and unsettling, especially given the circumstances.
At least the Basilica has good acoustics. "Everyone who's going to be on the next guard rotations, I need you over here, now!" he yells - come to think of it, it's probably a more effective way to get attention than using the comm band. Either way, he needs to make sure they're all appropriately armed and ready to fill any holes in the defense lines if shit starts going down now.

The Vestibule: The Front Guards
Wow, this was not ominous at all.
"Keep all the lights off for now." There was no need to put a big neon sign out that said 'HAY WE'RE ALL OVER HERE'. "If you have night vision equipment, switch to that."

The Roofs
And now she couldn't see. She glanced to the side.
Well, there was someone near her body. So...it wouldn't be totally unsafe.
She stayed in her lotus position, letting her body slump as she left her body.
She was gonna scan the area around the city real quick and see if anything was happening.

Chapel of the Column/Medbay
Well, they would be okay, she knew. They had a plan. They just needed to stick with it, right? Sherry rubbed her lips together as she thought, and opened her eyes again. Some of the light from the boarded up windows appeared to be fading, and fast.
"...Is it getting darker?" Maybe she was imagining it. Someone, tell her she's imagining it.

OHSHI--
Re: OHSHI--
The crew members that had been left behind, holed up in the Vatican for safety, can only sit and wait for...something. And that something is coming. They may not be able to see, but the crew members manning the front line still have other senses.
The first sign of trouble is the strange sounds. Groaning and hissing. Something scraping against pavement. Something shuffling in one direction. Something else skittering in another. Moaning. Shrieking. Then comes the smell. The wretched odor of death, rotting flesh, blood, and rancid meat begins to waft over them. It starts as barely noticeable, slowly growing stronger and stronger until it almost overpowering.
Finally, the spotlights that had been mounted onto St. Peter's Basilica come on, illuminating the square. The obelisk in the center of the square shines brightly under the glare of the lights, like a majestic spire. But its beauty is an afterthought in the face of the sea of death that now surrounds it.
Hundreds of pairs of empty, dead eyes glint back at them, the brightness of the spotlight twinkling back at the crew members in the lifeless gaze of the crowd of zombies that lays before them.
Zombies that are as diverse as the crew. Some slowly creep along the square, a massive horde of dead flesh, groaning as it marches toward the doors of the basilica. Others race past the slow-movers, shrieking and hissing as they charge toward the entrance of the cathedral. Severed body parts, animated by some unknown force, skitter across the stone covered square and launch themselves at the windows, seeking out any small space left unprotected that they can use to breach the Vatican's defenses.
Some have meaty, bloody tentacles growing from their faces and torso, lashing out at anything that comes near and attempting to snare it. Others, however, run around in chaos, attacking anything and everything in sight, including other zombies.
Bedlam has been unleashed upon the city. It's hungry. And the smell of all the fresh meat entombed behind the Vatican walls is a banquet too tempting to resist.
The seige has begun....
