Get you Gone

The meeting is over, the teams have been assigned, the plans have been laid out. It's time to get weapons.

It's time to wish each other luck, and say goodbyes--with the hope that they're only "good bye for now"s.

It's about to get very hairy from here on out.

Chris turned, spotting Claire almost instantly. "Hey Claire." He scratched his head sheepishly, knowing that look in her eyes all too well. "You have enough supplies to hold you over, sis?"

"Yes," she instantly replied, stopping in front of her brother and crossing her arms. "Do you?" She'd play the small-talk game right now. She didn't exactly enjoy the whole 'so you might die but I sure hope you don't' goodbye thread, anyway. In her mind, Chris was invincible. It was pretty much the only way she could keep herself from worrying to death about him.

Chris liked that kind of talk almost as much as Claire did. He forced an awkward chuckle at her question motioning to the rocket launcher strapped to his back. "You know me, I don't have any concept of overkill." Chris fidgeted a bit, as he let an awkward silence fall between them before abruptly stepping forward and pulling Claire into a hug.

"Be careful, sis. I'll be back before you know it."

Claire let him hug her, dropping her arms so she could hug him back.

"You better be," she replied, tucking her chin up to rest against his shoulder so she could hold on a little tighter. "I don't want to have to come rescue you." Because last time that had ended up with him rescuing her.

"I'll be fine, sis. You know me." He gave Claire a light squeeze, before planting a kiss on top of her head.

"I've got too much going for me right now, sis. I've got you, Jill, Sherry, and everyone else. I hope you aren't offended, but I'm not about to go dying for you guys. I intend to stick around and pester the living crap out of you, okay?"
