I'm just a bill on Meatship hill [Open]
Well that whole thing was a big mess. The trial worked but the problem was lack of precedent. Or structure. There was common law, but nothing definite. Should be some basic rules to keep order, or situations like what happened in the city were going to keep happening. Security and the Precinct help, but they need something more to back them. As it was, Nathan was currently holed up in the Media Library of late, poring over various law books of different worlds and cultures. Trying to get some ideas to present to the rest of the Command Staff. And part of it was to make sure there was representation and laws to protect those with and without abilities.

And she noticed the other who was looking through many of the little datapads. Upon closer inspection, she saw they were books on law. After pondering a moment, she moved close. "Thou art very intent on thine reading. Perhaps to do with the recent chaos of the ship's rather unstable form of it?"

He then nodded to her, "Yeah, you got it. We need some more order around here and fast before everybody takes each other apart. Can't just get by general acceptance of status quo. There's too many people for that now."

And then there was someone who had been pointed out to her by another member of the crew. Nathan Petrelli. From what she understood, he should be able to help her out.
Slowly she made her way over to him, and cleared her throat so didn't totally catch him off guard. "Mr. Petrelli? Hi, I'm Jean Grey... And I'm not interrupting you am I?"

"Yeah? What political structures are you familiar with? Democratic? Parliamentary? Monarchy? Like to hear about some of the more commonly held laws where you're from too."

"Nathan please, and sure, go right ahead." He had vaguely remembered seeing her around but hadn't had a chance to really talk yet.
He then explained, "Trying to look into setting up a legal structure around here. Figured I'd check into laws of some of the worlds everybody's coming from, see what we can work out to get some order around here. We can't afford to have another incident."

She folded her hands together and was silent for a few moments while she listened to him explain what he was doing. "Oh? I think that's a great idea. In a way, I've been thinking along the same lines..."
She sighed, "I think the incident got completely out of hand. And well, I've been actually thinking that we almost have too much a militaristic rule going on here.... I've heard that you're a Senator where you're from, so I was wondering what you're thoughts would be on having a civilian council added onto the command structure."

"Sounds a little like monarchic cultures in the East with the focus on education. Also for higher ups in those society. Makes sense. We have something like that, anyone with an interest in management and politics needs a lot of education. Also connections."

Nathan then said, "I think that's an excellent idea. Most of the people here are civilians, even though many have fighting or battle experience."
He sighed, wondering how to phrase it, "I think there's also been some distrust and concerns. Particularly with the number of people with abilities, many being underaged. We need a better representation and a better way to make sure there's no other problems."

She slowly nodded her head, "I think the same thing, And while I can understand some of the trepidation concerning the teenagers with superpowers, I think sometimes the command seems to forget that those same teenagers carried great responsibilities in the worlds they came from and the lack of trust concerning them isn't doing them any good in a mental aspect."
She bit her bottom lip for a moment, "Do you think a civilian council could work? Captain Kirk didn't seem to be too fond of the idea."

"Connections do make things easier. Usually if one is of a noble bloodline, they are noticed. It is a bit harder for those of lower classes unless they make friends with a noble. Which isn't as hard as some kingdoms as in Kuith. I do not know of many kingdoms that would actually put the children of those with high power in the heat of battle for their education. Something that might have done quite a great deal for some of the more...arrogant of the lot. They could understand the danger they put their people and get to know some of those of the lower class a bit more personally."
