A House Divided [Part 3]
[Instructions: Here.]
Despite a few tricks up their sleeves, the Conspirators hardly stood a chance. It's all or nothing as they make a few last ditch attempts to kill the Yeerk, and as the fight grinds to a screeching halt.
Will they kill the Yeerk?
Will someone other than the Yeerk get killed in the crossfire?

"Get up, you filthy little shit."
Leon yanked his knife out of his forearm and held it ready.
"You want to turn yourself into a monster in order to kill one? Fine. But since day one on the job, I've been the guy who stood between the monsters and whoever want to harm."
He circled around a few steps, putting himself between Sam and the Yeerk, and took his stance there.
Bring it, boy.

"I'm right here, dickhead," Sam answered, holding his one good arm out, taunting Leon.

Sam leaned back and grabbed Leon's foot by the ankle just inches away from his own face, then swept his own leg down, aiming for Leon's other knee.

He'd gotten there just in time to see Jaime go flying, and while Sam and Leon had gone about beating the crap out of each other, he'd picked his way through the rubble to get to Jaime.
"Come on dude, please be knocked out..."

He is out cold. Took a nasty, nasty knock to the head. In fact, he doesn't look in the best shape. That'd flung him pretty hard, and he'd felt it right through the armor.
So, it's likely rather surprising to Paco when his eyes suddenly pop open, and he abruptly sits up, pretty much inhumanly fast.

"Ow! Forehead! Ow!"
Paco sat back on his heels, rubbing the spot where Jaime's forehead had clonked him.
"...Jaime?"

Sam was on his knees the minute the blow to his knee struck, then doubled over as a sharp pain erupted in his genitals from the kick to the groin.
"Is that all ya got, Barbie?" he spat. "You fight like a F#*@ing girl."
He then lunged for Leon, his fist flying, aimed right for Kennedy's nose.

That's when the armor transforms into something a little spikier, a little more...sinister-looking. The way he moves is terrifying, like something...just something other, tensed and coiled up like a spring, a clockwork toy only a key-turn away from slitting Paco's throat.
Only a few words are spared for Paco in a voice that is Jaime's but isn't Jaime's at all. There are no human eyes behind the glow. All that's there is the glow.
He is one that is loved by his host, one that is to be protected. So he needs to get as far away as possible.

"Whoa! Whoa, hey there Khaji Da!" Paco said, deciding at the very last minute to not try to touch him. "You're not planning anything crazy, are you?"
Come ooooooon Jaime, wake up...

Sam stared down at Leon, his expression fearless. He could feel the sharpness of the blade--wet with Leon's and his own blood--pressing against his throat. One slice was all it would take and Sam would find himself drowning in his own blood.
"Do it," he said, his voice low and firm. "You wanna protect this thing so badly, then do it. Because the only way it's stayin' on this ship is if I'm dead. You wanna slay a monster well here's your chance. So F#*@in' DO IT ALREADY!!!"
no subject
Khaji says only one thing, the thing simmering at the top of his buggy mind, roiling away there.
And that is enough to send him rocketing out the hole in the wall and back into the fight like a something out of a nightmare. Sam and Leon are greeted by the sight of a horrible monsters shooting towards them both.
no subject
"Yes! Yes! Bravo!" He claps sharply, as if he were a commentator at a spectator sport. "And he makes a charge down the center line! What a sudden toss-up in this event, what a quick turnaround! Nobody knows what's going to happen next!"
Well, at least somebody's having a good day.
no subject
He didn't even bother saying anything, and was about to cuff Sam when he saw Jaime heading towards them. Kid looked pissed, and understandably so.
"Reyes! It's over! Stand down, kid."

If the change in appearance doesn't make it abundantly clear Jaime isn't at the wheel, the change in his voice does. It's grating, screeching, nearly inhuman sounding, like something with only vague familiarity with vocal chords is giving them a try for the very first time. Its tone and cadence are flat an robotic, but the words are hissed, communicating the depths of its rage.
It's Jaime's voice and yet isn't. Just as this is Jaime's body, and yet isn't.
He lifts Sam up with a hand around his throat, choking him.

Leon didn't hesitate in moving, even though, frankly, he was frustrated enough to walk away.
Standing in front of Reyes, Leon took advantage of the roaring and snarling the kid was making and simply shove the barrel of his 9mm in Jaime's mouth. It was probably the only weak point the kid had right now.
"Reyes, if you are somewhere in there at all, if you can hear me at all, you have to stop this!"
He cocked the hammer, the whole time praying to someone somewhere that he wouldn't have to pull the trigger.
"Jaime, kid, don't make the same mistake Sam did. Don't let yourself become a monster just to stop one. You're a hero, Reyes, and right now three people need saving. You save Sam's life, save your life, and save my soul because I do not want to kill a good kid to save a piece of shit like him. He's not worth it. Save us all, kid, you're the only one who can do it. I can't."
Reyes, if you ever wanted to make your mark as a superhero, now was the time.
no subject
The only problem is that currently Jaime Reyes is unconscious. There is no one in there to talk to. It's not that his consciousness is being suppressed, but that parts of his concussed brain are under repair and his body's being yanked around by the being hooked up to his nervous system.
But Khaji Da is capable of reason. Khaji Da is an Infiltrator. Khaji Da has access to every memory, mannerism, and snippet of speech Jaime's every thought, acted out, or spoken.
He's not ready to stop being angry, but he is smart and Jaime is at risk right now much more than Khaji is. Khaji's central consciousness is spread through the suit in this state and primarily hooked up at the backpack at the base of the teen's spine. Khaji would survive the shot--Jaime would not. And he won't let his actions kill his host.
This is why there appears to be a horrible internal struggle and then Jaime's eyes suddenly go wide, and he lets out a "Mmmph!" noise. The armor starts to go back to Jaime's usual armor.
He slowly lowers Sam back to the ground, and looks to Leon, terrified. "Mmph?"
Please to be taking the gun out of his mouth now?
no subject
He turned and aimed his gun at Sam, while lightly trying to push Jaime back and out of the way. Hoping that God was still willing to answer, Leon had one more prayer, that this idiot, Sam, finally got the fucking point already.
"Drop it, Sam. Just... let it go."
no subject
And now, Khaji the Infiltrator strikes. Leon's back is turned. Khaji grabs him by the back of the shirt, lifts him up and bodily throws him away, turning to Sam, his armor shifting back.
Now the fate of the parasite is between Sam and another parasite.
no subject
And, like any normal person facing off against a super-powered opponent, Sam does the only thing he can: he runs. With the Yeerk firmly tucked under his uninjured arm, Sam bolts.
no subject
You can run but you can't--well, actually, you can't even run, Sam. Not when your pursuer can fly as fast as he can. Wings sprout at Jaime's back and the parasite-controlled teen flies after Sam.
His arm turns into a blade and he slashes at Sam's achilles tendon in his right leg, trying to cripple him and keep him from running.

'Eliminated.' That's what Blue Beetle had said. That's what he'd deemed necessary for Sam Winchester. But Sam had always known this would be a possibility. He'd always known this was how this all could end. He'd, in fact, told Jaime and Leon that this was the only way this ended with the Yeerk still alive.
He'd tried and failed. And if death was the price he had to pay, then death it was. Looking directly at the approaching Jaime, Sam tightened his jaw and steeled himself for what was coming. This was it.
"You want the Yeerk back?" he said, his voice steady and unwavering. "Then you're gonna have to kill me. 'Cause that's the only way this ends."
