A House Divided [Part 2]

[Instructions: Here.]

The fighting begins in earnest, as bystanders get dragged in, have to duck out of the way, or join in to help out, but with more people entering the fray, there's even more chaos.

Buildings have been cracked, a nearby fountain has been smashed, causing water to pour over the ground and make things even more of a mess.

Can anyone, Security or the Conspirators, keep the situation under control?

"Sorry about this, Chief," says Leela, diving in and trying to kick his gun away.

"I'm not really sorry myself though." Rose quips, stepping in to try to pin him down.

"Be sorrier when you learn to hit me!" he answers Leela, jerking the weapon to him reflexively to avoid being disarmed even as he twists to try and break Rose's grip. They're too close, he needs more room to maneuver.

At least a podsuit doesn't have as many grapple points as his armor. That makes it much easier.

Bystanders

And Katara, who was planning to make a decision to fight, found that she would be a bit busy first. The water was easy enough to take care of: she'd lifted it effortlessly, and was starting to move it toward the debris, hoping to move it out of harms way. Katara waterformed octopus right now, flinging the arms out to either push people out of the way or intercept falling concrete chunks from the buildings. It wasn't as easy as it looked, but Katara had a sharp eye.

All the while, she was evaluating the Security team.

Carol was there, and Katara felt a painful pang. She wouldn't engage her: she was a friend, and even so, she'd lose easily. Chief was getting attacked, by that woman Leela she'd met awhile ago. They might have a chance. She saw others she knew too: Kirk, for instance, and Leon and several others she recognized. They were pretty strong, but they relied on their weapons too.

She was almost certain she felt the presence of someone familiar too. Danny maybe? That would be difficult: she was actually fond of the ghost boy.

They don't give him room. At all. That's why there's two of 'em. Big guy, fast reflexes, pretty fast for his size, but they're both extremely agile precogs. They gives them quite a bit of speed.

"Like this?" she asks, aiming a kick for his solar plexus.

[identity profile] ravaged-rose.livejournal.com 2009-09-09 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
Rose doesn't need any grapple points to get her hand around Chief's wrist and try to jerk that wrist up between his shoulder blades.

"You're gonna have to try to be less predictable honey." she says into his ear, almost laughing.

Worf was about to take the shot when Ronon acted and gave away his true identity. He quickly stepped up to Worf, breaking formation, and shoved Worf's arm into the air so that his phaser pointed away from Sam and a shot was fired into the sky.

Taking advantage of the the short confusion, Ronon disarmed Worf and threw a punch at his face in an effort to separate them from the rest of the Security escort. The less people in the picture, the better for the conspirators.

Worf was, sadly for him, taken completely by surprise. Ronon was a double agent, that much was clear. And Worf had little love for that sort of underhanded trickery. He tried to get his phaser into position for a shot, cursed as it went spinning off along the pavement. No time for this, he had to get control of the situation back.

The Klingon ducked to one side as Ronon threw his punch, then rammed his riot shield towards the other's gut, following with blow with his free hand aimed at Ronon's head.

The situation was spiraling out of control, and fast. He was afraid this would happen.

But that may be the difference between himself and them. He didn't decide things because of his fears, he did what was right despite having them.

Regardless, he still had Schmuz, and he still had to deliver his prisoner to his new jail. That meant he couldn't afford to stay in the middle of a fire fight. He ordered his team, those who were still loyal, to cover him as best they could while he broke off and ran towards the Hub.

Sheeana smelled it before she saw it. Water, clean, treasure that her Fremen instincts told her to run towards. There was a girl about a year younger than her manipulating it somehow, forming great psuedo-sentient shapes.

Which meant...She backed away from the fighting and keyed up her ominicomm, entered Arha and Ghanima's signatures..

Obi-Wan had known for certain the trouble would begin, as ever, only just before it began. Never ask him what would happen in the next hour or year, but anything within the next thirty seconds could be sensed with a startling amount of accuracy. He wasn't directly involved in the situation, true, but he'd agreed with the decision made, once he'd heard what had happened. It wasn't perfect, but it was as right a choice as could be made, given the circumstances. He'd made many worse in his life. Of course, it was never quite that easy. So, when the fight had broken out in flashy and spectacular fashion, Obi-Wan had already had his hand on his Lightsaber under the enveloping cloak.

Now he thumbed the switch and it crackled to life; a conspicuous, deadly reminder of his presence. It was only a precaution, after all, but with guns being waved in every direction — and more — one couldn't count on anything.

The arrow, with a tiny sprig of mistletoe tied to it for some reason, comes shooting out of seemingly nowhere. It may or may not hit Leon, but it's a crack shot, and the projectile packs much more of a punch than it really technically should be able to.

One would have to look up to see the cause. A strange red-haired main in simple archaic-looking clothes and a cloak is perched at the edge of a building. He laughs, sending another three arrows Leon's way, one after the other. One misses broadly, knocking the tail off a bronze statue of a lion sitting there as part of a building's decoration, but the other two are rather closer -

Arha had felt the air change subtly just before the fighting had begun and crouched low to the ground, scanning for injured. While she could turn into a deadly rush of blades and frighteningly quick movement in an instant, it was her healing hands that would come in handy should water be shed.

Her blue-within-blue eyes narrowed as a soft hiss escaped her lips.

No blade would be unsheathed less someone was fool enough to turn against her.

Seeing Leon making for the hub--with the Yeerk in his arms--Sam was off like a rocket, chasing down the leader of Team Echo. He couldn't let him get to the hub. He wouldn't let him get to the hub. Not with the Yeerk. Not where Stacy could intervene. So Sam was going to do whatever he had to--short of killing Leon--to make sure that didn't happen.

Pulling his rock salt-loaded shotgun from the sling on his back, Sam pumped it and aimed.

For the most part, Tim is on the outskirts of the fray. He's trying to keep an eye on as much as he can, and hoping to keep any of the smaller fights from getting out of hand. They don't really want any casualties but the slug-thing Leon's carrying, and Tim is trying to make sure it stays that way.

...While helping out the other conspirators as much as he can.

He steps into the line of sight of a red-haired woman who's helping the security team. He might not be sure if he's ready to kill the Yeerk, but he can clear the way for others who are, which means distracting its protectors.

Robin has always been a very good distraction.

Jamie had been feeling uneasy earlier as the crowd gathered, but tried to ignore the feeling and had decided to stay. Now he finds himself pressed up against the side of a building, trying to figure out if it's better to be where he is or if he needs to find other cover.

He may not be positive about that yet, but one thing is absolutely certain. He does not like this, not one little bit.

Once, before he'd met the Animorphs, before he'd even seen Earth, Ax had run into a War-Prince so hard that he'd knocked him over. That War-Prince had been an Andalite, having full control over all four of his legs and being, in general, much more sturdy on his feet than the average human.

Ax spotted Sam chasing after Leon and gave chase himself, pouring on the speed until he was going too fast for him to trust that he wouldn't cut Sam if he tried to strike him with the flat of his blade.

So he simply barreled right into him.

By the time he heard the tell-tale 'fft' of the first arrow coming through the air, it was already too close for him to dodge it completely. He twisted around at the last second, but arrow still sliced into part of his upper arm as it whizzed by, leaving him with a gash.

The other arrows he saw coming, and managed to duck out of the way completely. He ducked behind a building for a bit of cover.

«We have a sniper on the roof! Sniper on the roof!»

Who the hell was it that was even shooting at him?

It didn't really matter, though. Leon leaned back out and started returning fire with his handgun.

Sam was thrown off his feet and soared into the air before slamming right into a wall, one of the many he'd been thrown into in his life. With the wind knocked out of him, he crumpled to the ground and lay huddled their for a few seconds before climbing to his feet.

Once he was standing again, Sam stared at Ax. The Andalite that his Yeerk had tried to kill in the clock tower. The Andalite that his Yeerk wanted to kill, needed to kill, hungered to kill. There was a mixture of reverence and sadness in Sam's expression as he realized that now it was he who may have to fight the blue centaur-like alien.

"Don't do this," Sam pleaded. "You of all people. Don't."

Brainiac 5 was elsewhere in the city when he heard the commotion start up, but the moment it becomes obvious that this is more than just a minor problem, he takes to the air to get a better look at the situation.

A fight or something has started, and it looks like its spreading to catch up any and everyone in its path. He might not know why it started, but what he does know is that there are defenceless people down there and that, no matter where they are or what's going on, he's a Legionnaire.

But he doesn't have to handle things alone either.

He lands in the fray, trying to get an idea of who is doing what and where the best place to set up protective measures might be. One hand raises to create a small shield to fend off debris, while he activates his Legion communicator. "Brainiac 5 to anyone who can hear me. We have a situation in the city."

He isn't sure if the message will get through to anyone else with a flight ring or not, mostly hoping that the technology isn't so different that he may as well be talking to himself, but he figures it's worth a try before he heads further in to try and keep the damage and casualties to a minimum.

Kirk was still trotting towards the swirling melee of security team members and conspirators when he heard Leon's call. Instantly he was scanning the skyline, trying to find the shooter. For a moment, he couldn't find anything. There was too much going on, too many people - and then he spots a flash of red - movement. A man in strange clothes, with a bow.

Kirk dropped to one knee, bracing his right arm with his left. He carefully sighted down the barrel of his phaser pistol and squeezed the trigger, sending a lance of energy towards the mysterious bowman. Of course, the worst it will do to him, should it hit is stun the man.

It was good that it took Sam a moment to recover, because Ax needed one too. Ax was young and fairly slight, built more along the lines of a deer than a horse; colliding with people wasn't precisely the best course of action.

< "Don't do this"? You don't do this, > Ax retorted. < The Yeerk was tried and found guilty, Sam. If anything, letting it live knowing that it will never be able to see or run or taste anything ever again is a far worse punishment than killing it. Stand down, and tell your people to stand down as well. Please. >

From her position in the crowd, Lafiel heard the soft whiff of projectiles overhead. She had no time to marvel at the primitiveness of the man's weapon, nor to aim an accurate shot. Instead she thumbed the klanyu to illumination mode and knelt to aim. The equivalent of a high powered searchlight cast him at the center of a six by six foot circle. With any luck he would be blinded too.

[identity profile] demonbloodsam.livejournal.com 2009-09-09 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
Sam's jaw flexed as, once again, someone tried to convince him that he was wrong. "You don't know that, Ax. You don't know it won't get out. You don't know that it won't hurt people when it does. Your people have sworn to fight them, to stop them. Help me stop him. Help me.... I can't let him hurt anyone again. Ever. And you know there's only one way of guaranteeing that."

[identity profile] mynameisax.livejournal.com 2009-09-09 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
< Yes, every morning I vow to destroy my enemies, > Ax said. < That includes the Yeerks. But first I vow to let my duty to the people guide me, and the people of this ship say that the Yeerk should be imprisoned rather than die. I serve them, Sam, not myself. >

Ax kept his main eyes focused on Sam, with one stalk eye scanning the fight and the other fixed on Leon's retreating back. He only had to stall Sam for so much longer before Leon reached the Hub...
