Trust Barbara to ask that. He wasn't, not really, but he didn't want her to worry. Not over him. So he tried at least to manage a small smile for her, a reassurance he didn't really feel.
"Aye, I'll be fine," he said, although the words sounded hollow even to him. "It's not as though it's not happened before." Many times before, but if he let himself go back down that particular train of thought he guessed Barbara would likely pick up on it. Maybe if he focused on her instead it would take his mind off everything else.
"Doesn't matter though. Are ye holding up alright?"
