Survivalist End [Open]
|| Medical personnel, please report to the Observation Deck. ||
The shuttle from 'Eden' returns to Stacy, carrying the rescue crew and the original crew members that went down to answer the first distress signal. The returning people are bloodied, battered, some grievously injured. Maxine, Diana and Clef are dehydrated and haven't eaten in days. Karis is missing her entire lower half.
But at least she's better off than the corpse and the wand hastily wrapped in sheets and clothing and lying in the back of the return shuttle. Howard Bassem and Cedric Diggory, one laid cold and still by death and the other not even in enough pieces to be scraped up and taken back, never made it home alive. The official causes of death will be respiratory failure and spontaneous combustion, respectively, as if to to provide a clinical, accurate excuse in lieu of questioning a ship that sends children on dangerous missions.
Stacy quickly determines that she is the most qualified to deal with Karis' case and whisks her away to a secluded section of the Medical Bay. The rest of the survivors and the tragedy are left for the crew to deal with.

Re: Diana
"Aren't I lucky to have you here to kiss everything better?"
Re: Diana
Her smile was infectious and growing, "It's my pleasure." She purred affectionately and let her thumb brush over the held wrist lightly. At least for whatever she'd gone through physically Diana was in better shape then some of the people she'd seen.
But the questions were nagging at her and they had to kill time while the fluids finished revitalizing Diana so she finally asked "So what happened down there?"
Re: Diana
"Our shuttle crashed and everyone's powers stopped working. The town had been trashed, bodies on the streets, monsters everywhere. There was no food or water, we found a little girl but she was sick." She gave a sideways glance, not voicing the childs fate, just implying it.
"The creatures set fire to the safehouse and we all got separated. By the time we met up alot of us had been attacked. We found out that the rulers of the place didn't need the town anymore so tried to get rid of it using those things." Diana rolled her eyes. "Which backfired pretty seriously."
As usual, everything was plain facts being relayed impartially, with nothing that related directly to herself.
Only when she got to Howard did she falter slightly, only enough for Jinx to notice. "Howard was hurt when we were all apart. By the time we all met up he'd already gotten really sick. He died while we were calling the shuttle."
Quickly, she returned to her normal disinterested tone. "We took down the thing stopping everyone powers but it just gave the creatures powers aswel and they cornered us while we waited to be picked up. That Cedric guy blew himself and the beasts up while the rest of us got away."
She gave Jinx a smirk, her bag now only a quarter full. "A pretty good bedtime story, don't you think?"
Re: Diana
More to the point Howard...for a moment a flicker of guilt danced up from her heart but it was easily extinguished. She had done nothing wrong after all.
"Well I wouldn't say it's my favorite." She finally recovered and drew Diana a little closer silently offering to help with whatever she needed. "I'm sorry about Howard." She added in an attempt to show respect for the gravity of it all.
Re: Diana
"Yeh. I mean, we weren't friends but he was okay." She stroked along Pro's beak idly. "I guess you could say we had an understanding."
As usual, she quickly changed moved the topic conversation away from her. "I wonder how Stacys going to explain this one to everyone."
Re: Diana
"It's not the first time someone around here has died...but the mission sounds so screwed up in the first place." Jinx shrugged "As if we don't have enough problems already." Jinx wanted to tell Diana about what she had found out while she was gone but there were too many ears at the moment.
"Well if history is any indication, it'll be awhile before you get sent out again. Usually there's some pretty lengthy breaks between missions. You can kick back and relax." Because clearly it was best to try and leave this horrible experience behind them with distractions.
Re: Diana
"Great. Let's go back to your place." Diana tapped the tube of her IV drip. "Could you find someone to take this out for me? I don't want to start bleeding everywhere."
Re: Diana
With a little chuckle she moved away from the bed to flag down the nearest medical looking person to assist them. Sure other people were much worse off in the injury department, but Jinx was very insistent that Diana be seen.
