Buy a Little Mercy [Open; Potentially Graphic Material]

Less than an hour after the ship leaves Agrestic's orbit, an announcement is broadcast throughout Stacy.

|| Attention, crew. Your crewmates, Howard Bassem and Charles Merriman, have been apprehended attempting to desert. They will now be given Punishment. According to established guidelines, you are all requested to report to the Observation to witness the Punishment. Attendance is not mandatory, but highly suggested. This will serve as a reminder of the consequences of treason and desertion. ||

On the observation deck, Archon Yavek, Archite Rekkti, two other Daligig and a handful of Kessek soldiers stand outside a spherical force field. Inside the bubble, Orc and Howard are suspended by tentacles looping around their wrists. Orc's ceased thrashing around and struggling against his restraints; rust-colored fissures have developed around his shoulders and forearms from the strain, but now he simply hangs there, looking defeated. Howard's nose is bleeding, and every time a drop falls to the bottom of the forcefield there's a small sizzle. He's weeping and begging the Daligig with every plea possible, but they act as if they aren't listening. Instead, they wait for an audience.

Jinx felt a chill run through her but she nodded and moved closer. "Well then do you mind if I stay too?" Not outright insisting, leaving the choice to Diana. She looked back up at the boys and spent a minute trying to figure out if it were possible for her to hex the binding loose. And even if she could where would they go? It would just be making things worse.

She had seen a few demonstrations like this in prison. Nothing to this extent but the guards and the big dog prisoners liked to put on a show every once in awhile to strike the fear of god in the hearts of newbies.

Jinx knew this was worse though. This was god herself via Stacy lashing out with cold uncaring unflinching judgment. Whatever was coming if it was causing this much trouble...Jinx doubted either of the boys would be walking away from it.

She wasn't even sure if Diana would be.

A deep breath, holding it for a count of ten and letting it out slowly, offering a hand to hold in a very casual subtle way. With the commotion spreading, odds are no one would notice.

“You’ll regret it.”

She let their knuckles brush first, pressing the back of their hands together.

Diana wasn't sure what her feelings on Jinx being there were, and she had something much more important infront of her to focus on, did she have time to be thinking about this? She certainly had no intention in letting the other girl see her in a state of weakness, and yet that was the price to pay to have at least some support. Could she face this alone? Most likely, but did she want to? No. Not if she didn’t have to.

As time passed and the tension only pushed itself closer and closer to unbearable, Diana hooked her fingers around Jinx’s, slowly pulling her hand closer until the two joined together.

"I've had my share of regrets. I can handle another."

She didn't smile, she didn't blush. Now really wasn't the time to think about what they may or may not have. She just gave the hand a gentle, secure squeeze.

Whatever happened, she was sure of one thing. If she could support this mysterious girl who constantly kept her guessing, she wouldn't regret standing by her side.
