In the Shadow of the Valley

Summary: Veronica discover a slice of home out on the outer areas of the city.


Not too far off from Central Park, there is a fenced-in sandy area. The only noteworthy things here are some bunkers and vents, and a lot of graffiti on the bunker walls. The sand has footprints - ones that look a bit hurried, actually - that lead to one structure. The door is open - as is the second door inside, which leads to a long staircase, leading into an obviously military installation - quite abandoned, from the looks of things, save for the periodic sound of footsteps and clicking nails on the metal floors and grates.

There's someone here, that's for sure.

Zouichi gave her a wry smile. "Well, I can't deny there've been nasty creatures on the ship from time to time. So you may actually have the right idea. Usually no harsh weather, through."

"Good to know, then. Maybe I can see about making things a little more...hospitable in case it's needed. Or something." There was some uncertainty in her voice, mostly due to being just a little overwhelmed - suddenly having full reign over a place that she'd often been (figuratively) chased out of what more than a little strange.

[zouichi]

Zouichi shrugged. "Hey, you choose where you want to live. And I'm sure some of the people here would love to live in a bunker, for the security and all. Well... cracks about the decor aside."

Heh heh. Cracks. Get it?

"Well, the old world military was more interested in functionality than style, sadly. And for better or worse, the group I'm with took after them a great deal." She shrugs, grinning a little. "Not to say we can't change that now. Though, I don't think the Elder will like it when he wakes up..."

[zouichi]

"Maybe you can explain to him the importance of home decor." Zouichi, of course, wouldn't turn down a valuable piece of equipment or shelter for not being designed with aesthetics in mind.

On the other hand, he did seem to favor modern chic.

"Or be elsewhere when he finds out who hung the drapes."
