If You Need a Doctor, I'll Examine Every Inch of You [Phys Evals; Open]

Ever since the medical briefing on the comms, the medical bay staff has been preparing for an influx of appointments for physical evaluations, as well as a few walk-ins. After that, the hunt will be on for those who've been skipping such appointments.

A few of the staff members are going about their regular duties, expecting patients or simply biding time at the coffee machine until they're called on.

[OOC: please state the name of which med character(s) you want to administer the evaluation in the header to your comment. If you're fine with anyone tagging in, please indicate so. Available characters are Sakura, Howard, Dr. Faiza Hussain, Soren and Dr. Carson Beckett.]

Given how few actual MDs had pulled through at Mariposa, Roger was used to making do with anybody vaguely medical, up through and including a junior pharmacist with a copy of Gray's Anatomy. It would be enough.

"Roger Maxson. Fifty-one years old. Born January seventeenth of 2045," he said as he got up on the scale. He'd topped out at an even six feet- 182 centimeters- and the scale would report 225 pounds, or around 100 kilograms. "My last medical checkup was several months ago after a radioactivity contamination incident; they gave me a couple of doses of Rad-Away and a clean bill of health."

Soren made a vaguely disapproving noise as he noted down each piece of Roger's information. "Are you often exposed to radiation, then? Any other common ailments? Magical abilities or allergies?"

The year 2045 didn't really mean much to Soren; it was an arbitrary year number from a world not his own. But he included the information anyway, for completeness's sake.

"No magic, no allergies," said Roger. "My world was more or less flattened by planet-wide atomic warfare twenty years ago. The worst of the radiation's subsided, but there's always a risk, especially in areas closer to the ruins of the old cities."

Soren frowned, wrote down 'RADIATION' in large letters on the datapad, and circled it. "Any other allergies? How is your sense of smell?"

He removed what looked like some kind of alien blood pressure cuff (which was exactly what it was) from a nearby drawer, motioning for Roger to hold up an arm. "Any unusual abilities that might affect treatments?"

"Nothing special there," said Roger, and held out his arm. "Sense of smell's a little dulled from too many years of being cooped up in my power helmet with my own breath when I go out on patrols, maybe. No allergies or family history of anything that I can think of. All thirty-two teeth, had my tonsils out when I was nine..." He thought for a moment, then shook his head. "No unusual abilities that I know of. You'd think they'd've shown up by now."

Normal enough. Soren tightened the cuff about Roger's arm. "Relax, please," he said, as he checked the readout on the device's monitor.

"Any problems with sight or hearing? Are there any medications we should know about, or recreational drug usage?"

Recreational drug usage. Well, one would certainly hope not, when it came to people you were supposed to rely on in a fight.

For a man his age and under questionable circumstances, Roger's blood pressure was pretty decent, on the order of 120 over 85. There wasn't much room nor much opportunity for people in the Brotherhood to get sedentary or overweight regardless of their age.

"Nothing I can think of. Found that beer tree in Hydroponics, but that's the sort of thing best visited once or twice a week," he said.

Soren made a brief note about the drinking, but it didn't particularly strike him as a stand-out piece of information. Birds flew, soldiers drank. What else was new?

There was a dramatic pause before Soren asked his next question.

"Have you been or are you currently sexually active?"

The doctors always asked that. Roger never liked answering, but at least he knew it was a standard question.

"Not since a few months before getting here. Never had VD, either, in case you were planning on asking."

Soren gave him a curt nod before putting the final flourishes on his report. "Very well. I believe that covers all the questions we have for you. If you have an extensive set of past injuries, please detail them in a list and send them to the department when you're finished." People on the ship tended to have laundry lists of past ailments.

"Thank you for your cooperation. You may leave, if you have no further concerns." Bedside manner? What was that?
