Stupid cloud! Stupid ship! Stupid laws of physics!

Three attempts in and this had not been going well.

Outside the transport tubes in the city hovered one pegasus pony, staring in irritation at said tubes. One hoof rested on what was unmistakably a cloud -- a puffy, friendly-looking white cloud, just the right size to make a comfy napping spot for a pegasus who, well, really liked napping.

"You stupid tube tentacle... things!" she said, expecting that the ship would somehow respond. "Let me take the cloud up to that Hydro-whatsit place!"

"I picked up some more fabric for my shop. Who knows when will we be able to go down again. I have to stock up."

Admist the glowing lights in the tunnel was a white cat with a purple collar. She walked right up to it's owner and meowed.

"Well hello, Opalescence!" Rarity replied and the cat turned its eyes towards the floating cloud. It got into a jumping position and pounced.

The unicorn moved the cloud away and the cat fell to the floor ungracefully. Opal glared fiercely at Rarity and began to groom itself.

"I'm sorry Opalescence but you're not a pegasus. You will fall through the cloud when you land on it."

"Hey, Opal!" Rainbow Dash didn't have a proper fear of the cat, since, well, Opal stayed on the ground. Or sometimes up in trees.

She darted down by Rarity, grinning as she nudged the unicorn. "I'd complain about you being no fun, but that WAS fun for you, wasn't it?"

"I'll brush your fur later to make it up to you, alright?" Rarity gently petted the cat and Opal purred. She also mewed a greeting at Rainbow Dash.

Rarity continued to walk down the tunnel, "We're almost there."

"I really appreciate it, Rarity. Sleeping over the City was starting to give me weird dreams." By 'weird' she meant 'bad', but she couldn't admit that, of course. "You really have settled in here pretty well, haven't you?"

"You're welcome, Rainbow Dash. Anything for my closest friends. Yes, I have been living pretty well in my boutique. It almost feels like I'm back home." Rarity did not press on about Rainbow's dreams. She knew the pegasus had a lot of pride and would never admit that she was scared in any situation.

"I learned how to change colours on clothes too, it was difficult but extremely rewarding. Do you need any clothes, Rainbow Dash?"

She shook her head fondly. Leave it to Rarity to adapt effortlessly so long as there was fashion to be designed. Though really, wouldn't Fluttershy take to the animals, or Twilight to the studies here, without worrying about anything?

Wait, weren't Dash and AJ supposed to be the tough ponies?! This was kind of a scary revelation.

"Huh, back when I first woke up, someone was talking about armor and protection. I don't know... that's not your usual thing, but could you do it? I'm gonna get an actual suit of armor made for Applejack, but I can't have anything big and heavy, it'd slow me down!"

"Hmm... I don't make armour but I can spruce it up to make it look 'cooler', if you want it to." Rarity mused to herself. Fabric was her choice of material, not metal.

"Hmm. Hey, could you use magic on normal cloth so it became a lot tougher?" She giggled a little at the thought of Applejack in armor that was decorated more like something Pinkie Pie would wear.

"I think I may have done something like that before. It required a lot of concentration. Making the cloth tougher but still stylish at the same time." Rarity's head was now bouncing with ideas. Designing stylish armour for her friends! Her eyes was sort of glazed over sheer excitement.

That's about what she expected. "If we're gonna get in fights, it'd be great to have something light that doesn't get in my way, but that still protected me. I know I normally wouldn't need it, but..." She rubbed the back of her head with an embarrassed smile as she looked away. "This is tougher than just a manticore, or even a dragon. Even I have to be careful."

Rarity thought as she walked. "I'm sure I'll be able to come up with something."

Soon, they arrived at Hydroponics with the lush trees and assortment of flora everywhere.

"You want the cloud above Applejack's barn?"

"Yeah, that'd be great! I'll put it into proper position when you've got it there. Yes! Now I can finally get some real sleep again!" She turned a triumphant loop in midair before dropping back to the ground next to Rarity. "I owe you big!"

Rarity focused her magic to bring the cloud just above the barn. Her obsession with precision was now making her want to place the cloud right smack in the middle at the top of the barn.

"You're welcome, Rainbow Dash." She murmured as she was deep in concentration.

Rainbow grinned broadly, stamping with her forehooves as she watched Rarity place the cloud.

...and watched, and...

"...what are you doing?"

"I want the cloud exactly in the middle of the barn." Rarity replied, slightly in a daze.

"No, too left. Argh, too right!" She grumbled to herself as Opal got bored and sat on the ground, rolling her eyes.

Next to Opal sat Rainbow Dash, with almost exactly the same as the cat.

She was just gonna move it later, anyway, Rarity!

It took a while but she finally got the cloud where she wanted it. Then she turned to see her friend looking really bored and she laughed nervously. "Oh right... it's your cloud anyway."

She shot off the ground like a bullet, trailing rainbow up to the cloud, which she gracefully dove onto like a filly diving onto a mattress. She spread out on it, flat and happy-looking. "Ah. Now THIS is comfort!"

The sight of Rainbow Dash smiling and enjoying herself made Rarity all warm and fuzzy inside. "I'm glad you can finally relax now. Maybe I'll leave you alone and catch up with you another time?"

"That sounds good, Rarity," Rainbow said, already well on the path to a really good nap. She waved with one hoof tiredly, then let it drop back down to her side.
