Tavern repairs [Bendytimed to after System Shock and before the Council meeting]

It had taken some time, and a bit of help, but the tavern's repairs were almost done. A full day had been needed to clear the store room of its wreckage (which was still in a large pile outside), and another two to track down materials and construction tools. There were plenty of spare wooden planks and beams in the city in the form of unused buildings; that didn't mean it was all suitable for Kang's purposes or easy for him to take. He'd at least been lucky enough to find a few odd-looking power tools, from some version of Earth, with batteries, saving a bit of work.

The tables, bench and chair had been the first things to be fixed. The stage just needed the new boards hammered in. The store room needed a new door, support beam, and shelving, and stock from the other building moved into it, including some of the full, heavy barrels of ale. He hadn't bothered with putting the various pots back in their proper places yet, though he had at least moved them out of the way and off the floor. The entire building needed swept as well.

It felt good to do a bit of manual labor, and it showed in how quickly and easily the bozak had drawn up detailed blueprints, gotten to work, and made occasional rounds to check on progress and supervise that construction was something he was very experienced with.

[OOC: Threadjacking is very welcome. Tag each other too! :D ]

"Need a hand?"

Kerrigan's approach had been quiet at first until she realized that surprising the draconian was not something she wanted to do, not out of fear but concern. She hadn't interacted with Kang much but he had been patient with her at their first meeting, and forgiving when she had attacked him out of... instinct, she supposed. She wasn't entirely sure.

Kerrigan took the hammer. She tried smiling back but it was too obviously forced and she stopped.

"Aside from a quick job or two during shore leave, not much. But I'm a fast learner if you need an extra pair of hands."

It was all about making the right alliances. Either that or she was actually trying to start over, possibly both.

"I'd better start now." Once she started working Kerrigan reverted back to her normal self. She didn't say much and focused on her work.

"Y'know, I always kind of wanted to nail a role on stage, but this isn't quite what I had in mind." What it was, was putting those boards in on the tavern's stage. She wasn't complaining - just trying to lighten the mood a little.

Jamie paused in his work nearby to shoot the woman a sidelong glance. "Your, uh. Your performance seems a little wooden anyway."

He wasn't completely devoid of a sense of humor. He didn't indulge it very often and it was therefore strange and malnourished, but it existed. Sort of.

Veronica looks up from her hammering with a look of faux shock, then raises her free hand to her forehead. "Do forgive me if I've board you, good sir! I am but a humble scribe, who has not been given the opportunity to chase her dream!" Her tone makes it rather obvious that she's joking - and if it didn't, the grin and chuckle afterwards give it away.

Kinda weird, being able to actually cut up here and have people joke back...

Being a flying super hero with enhanced strength had its perks when it came to helping people. Jaime clumsily maneuvered the new store room support beam through the door, able to carry the heavy length of timber by virtue of his alien bug-suit.

"Oof--Where do you need this, Kang?"
azulescarabajo: ([BB] I am disgruntled by this.)

"Don't worry, I've got it. It's just bulky." He swings the heavy beam around a bit.

"See if you can just get the end in, yeah? Then I can get it upright."

"Hey, no problem. We have to stick together around here, right?" Jaime lifted upwards, feet leaving the ground as he levered the beam upright and carefully began easing it into place to support the roof.

"Besides, it's pretty lame that a bunch of robots trashed your place."

sorry for the lateness

"Ah, yeah, I guess so. I kept my head down during that whole thing. I'm not really that useful without superpowers." Jaime purposefully underrates himself. His previous self's notes have instilled a healthy sense of paranoia in him.

"Still, I want to help out how I can."

"Anything I can do to help?"

Jamie's idea of taking a break from his Engineering workload was to wander around looking for things to do in other parts of the ship. Though he could probably count on one hand the number of times he'd actually been to the Drunken Dragon, there was clearly work to be done putting it back together, so he figured he might as well pitch in.

Jamie bobbed his head in greeting. "Doing okay, sir, thanks. All things considered, anyway. You?"

He looked around as Kang gave him the rundown of work to be done, nodding as his gaze came to rest on the woman hammering away at the raised platform. "Sure, I can help over there after I give you a hand. Unless you've got stuff covered here and want me somewhere else."

"Well, it should be even easier with two people then, right?" Jamie hesitated and looked momentarily sheepish. "...if you don't mind giving me some pointers. I've never actually done any construction work before."

Dean had some tools with him, and was just coming from similar repairs in the Precinct.

"Just set up anywhere, man?" he called out, his head craning to locate where Kang was working.
