This will not be a relic.
A little after the Shodan attack, Mindy would learn that both Sasami and Negi would be repodded, further darkening her mood after all of the fight: no victory, nothing to be really proud of, just a good, swift win. That was life on Stacy, so be it. What was more, for all intent purposes, "Mindy" had to make sure to look broken up about the death of her father, which was obviously not a stretch. But there was something, in her estimation, that needed to be taken care of first and foremost, which was why Ruffnut would notice that there was no Mindy around the castle for the last few days. In fact, Mindy had spent that time in and out of the Juraian Royal Palace, through the permission of Starfire, of course. This was because she was cleaning out the debris those fucking robots left behind in the one place Mindy was adamant needed to be preserved: The First Tree Cafe.
Or formerly that, anyway. The sign had been done away with, with a new sign replacing it: Negi and Sasami's Diner. Granted, the inside was still a bit of a fixer upper, but the lights were working, the chairs were clean of garbage and robot entrails, and a now dusty but accomplished looking girl was busy inside, busy cooking.
Outside there was another sign: Negi and Sasami's Diner
Under New Management
Alien Burgers
Apple Pies
Soup
Ask for anything else and you will get punched in the face.
More food to be added at a date TBD.
[To Note: Splitting this post in two: for those coming into the restaurant, and Mindy going back to the castle.]

"There are many ways to prepare tea, though the most simplistic method and blend would work for a diner." He didn't really think she would be interested in the long and precise manner in which a tea ceremony was held. "I've noticed the abundance of flora and fauna in Hydroponics, but I have yet to find any in-depth list on the properties of the various plants found there."
no subject
"With all the people and comings and goings, I wouldn't be surprised," Mindy said, who might actually be curious about a tea ceremony for the diner. For a regular day, not likely. Ruffnut would probably laugh her ass off at her for even suggesting it.

"Documenting the flora in Hydroponics might also greatly increase the list of items you're able to create for your menu, as I'm sure there are a vast number of edible items there. Cross-referencing might also reveal some particularly rare, edible varieties...assuming you've not opened the diner out of the kindness of your heart." Not that he would blame her; he was well aware that one rarely received something for nothing.

"I sorta did it because a friend of mine started the cafe," she said, motioning to Sasami's picture right above them, side by side with Negi. "If there's anything I can do to make it a nice place to eat and not go broke, might as well."

He noticed the diner a bit late and in an attempt to stop his mad dash, promptly crashed into one of the outside mailboxes... which of course was sent flying in a random direction.
In any case! No one had seen it! So he was still cool!
He strode into the diner, his jacked a bit off his shoulder and his sword in one hand. He looked around quickly and spotted Yukio, giving him the biggest grin ever before hopping over the seat and landing on the opposite end of Yukio's table.
"Yo!"

Even if Rin didn't think anyone had seen it, they most certainly heard it. Maybe it had been a bad idea to actually offer to treat his brother. He hadn't earned it, but he knew it would be a surefire method of keeping his twin in one spot.
Yukio said nothing, but shot a look at Mindy. Now that they were side-by-side, she would see just how different the two were.

Ruffnut would have liked him.
Still, it wasn't her place to make any judgement (yet). "What'll you guys have?"
no subject
Finally he sought a menu, if there was any before looking at Yukio.
"Yukio, what're you having?" That was usually a good method of seeing just how much he could have to eat, especially considering how hungry he was.

"Pie is cooking," Mindy said, then turned to his brother.
no subject
"Alien burgers huh.... Sure! Why not, I'll give that, and the pie and the soup a shot!"
Yes, he did just order all the things, but hey, what better way to check things out than to try them!
no subject
"You'll get an upset stomach if you eat too much, Nii-san. I won't treat you for free if you get sick, you know," Yukio chastised. "Our waitress and cook is named Mindy, by the way."
no subject
"Looks like I'll be busy then," she said, grinning a little. "You guys carry on, I'll be back."
And Mindy scampered off into the kitchen, shaking her head. Jeez, did she really want to do this for free?
Damn you and your goody two shoes crap Sasami!
no subject
"As if I could get sick from eating! You should know better Yukio!"
As the girl walked away, Rin's gaze followed. "Mindy huh? She looks pretty young don't you think? Didn't think you could get a job that early." he said thoughtfully.
Not that you'd ever have found Rin working outside of the house at that age!
no subject
"Yes she does." The bespectacled boy raised a curious brow. "With all the talk about skipping high school and going straight into the workforce, I would think you would know that already, Nii-san. She inherited this diner from a friend, it sounded like."
Besides that, he began officially working at thirteen. Age mattered little when one could succeed on their skills.

"Eh, I mean, not that I care, I just didn't think we had kids on board." Not that he was they themselves were adults even if Yukio acted like one.
"Makes me wonder a bit more about this whole place as a whole. Seems more and more like one of those sci-fi manga with all the body snatchers haha!"
no subject
"It is a fairly far-fetched...strangely so." Then again, so was being the son of Satan. "While I don't exactly believe most of what we've been told, there's little we can do about the situation at this point, other than keeping on top of things and keeping a low profile in certain aspects." This was where he looked pointedly at Rin.
"Since I don't possess any extraordinary abilities, I wasn't affected by Shodan. Did you keep Kurikara with you?"
no subject
"What dod you mean you weren't affected? What about all that meister stuff? You know, the thing with the paper and the summons and stuff?" he replied while waving his hands around as if mimicking the actions.
As to the question he nodded, "Yeah, of course. It's the only weapon I had!"
no subject
"The specializations I'm a Meister in are all dependent on my hard work and training, not anything supernatural." His lips thinned at the mention of 'summons and stuff' and his gaze shifted to the kitchen where their hostess/cook currently prepared their meal.
"Why would I try that, here?" came his barely audible reply. "The situation didn't escalate enough to attempt..." Yukio's voice trailed off for a moment and returned when his gaze shifted back to his sibling.
"Sheathed?" was all he questioned, as if he expected Rin to grasp the loaded implications behind the simple word.

Mindy was, after all, well versed in this. Secrets were kept for a reason. This was why her head didn't so much as lok in their direction, instead immersing herself in the cooking, which wasn't really a stretch.
Alien burgers were MUCH harder to prepare than beef, after all.
no subject
"Well, no, not really..." he said in a hushed tone.
"Nothing happened though! As soon as you know, nothing came out. It was just... normal?"
no subject
"I figured as much. With the power dampeners and such. And after they were destroyed, was your sword sheathed?" came the whispered reply.
no subject
"Here you go guys, enjoy."
