This will not be a relic.

A little after the Shodan attack, Mindy would learn that both Sasami and Negi would be repodded, further darkening her mood after all of the fight: no victory, nothing to be really proud of, just a good, swift win. That was life on Stacy, so be it. What was more, for all intent purposes, "Mindy" had to make sure to look broken up about the death of her father, which was obviously not a stretch. But there was something, in her estimation, that needed to be taken care of first and foremost, which was why Ruffnut would notice that there was no Mindy around the castle for the last few days. In fact, Mindy had spent that time in and out of the Juraian Royal Palace, through the permission of Starfire, of course. This was because she was cleaning out the debris those fucking robots left behind in the one place Mindy was adamant needed to be preserved: The First Tree Cafe.

Or formerly that, anyway. The sign had been done away with, with a new sign replacing it: Negi and Sasami's Diner. Granted, the inside was still a bit of a fixer upper, but the lights were working, the chairs were clean of garbage and robot entrails, and a now dusty but accomplished looking girl was busy inside, busy cooking.

Outside there was another sign: Negi and Sasami's Diner
Under New Management
Alien Burgers
Apple Pies
Soup
Ask for anything else and you will get punched in the face.
More food to be added at a date TBD.

[To Note: Splitting this post in two: for those coming into the restaurant, and Mindy going back to the castle.]

"Itadakimasu!" was all Rin said before digging in, eager to give the food a taste, and not to mention eat!

The food... wasn't bad! Of course, he'd say he could improve upon it greatly! After all, he was an awesome cook himself!

"It's no cause for thanks, really. It was a pleasure on my end as well." With that said, Yukio picked up his spoon and dipped it into his bowl.

"Itadakimasu."

He was as much for efficiency as anyone and appreciated that their grey goop of a meal on Stacy was highly nutritious, but having a real, warm meal at table with his brother felt incredibly nostalgic. Even if they were missing the other priests and their father...

"It's very tasty, thank you."

"I'm sure it could be better! Nothing wrong with wanting to strive for the best! I'm sure you could do it!" Rin encouraged before continuing to eat alongside his brother.

Moments like these? He, for once, thought that they'd be rare considering their situation. So he'd enjoy and cherish and burn it into his memory while it lasted.

At any other time he might have scolded Rin on being far too frank. This time, however, he let him speak, mainly because this was Rin's forte. It was the thing he knew and did best and there was no reason to discourage him about it.

"I did," Yukio said, raising his gaze to Rin. "Mindy currently runs this place by herself, and I know how much you enjoy cooking, especially with our current selection of...nutritious meals. I thought it would be a good fit for you, nii-san."

Punch all you want! He's damn good at this cooking thing!

"What? Alone?" Okay so it was work, but it was work he'd totally enjoy!

"You mean I could cook as much as I wanted for others? Wait... would I have access to the food too? Like if I wanted to make something for myself or Yukio?" Or Pram.

[identity profile] twin-shot.livejournal.com 2012-01-18 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
The eye-roll was noted and Yukio smiled--just a little.

"Make sure you supply him with a list," Yukio advised, finishing the last bits of the soup. "If you don't, he'll only bring back beef and vegetables for sukiyaki." And then Rin would literally be eating into profits.

[identity profile] cobalt-inferno.livejournal.com 2012-01-18 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
And the irritation went right over Rin's head! Instead thinking that Mindy was just being hard on herself!

"Hey, don't worry, we all start someplace!" And some where just that damn good, like him!

"I'm sure you'll get better," he insisted, encouraging her with a thumbs up.

"And if ya really need it? I'll be more than happy to stick around and cook! After all, I love doing just that."

[identity profile] twin-shot.livejournal.com 2012-01-19 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Yukio sighed, his eyebrows drawn together in exasperation. How could Rin not tell that he was sounding condescending at this point?

He quickly held up a hand to silence his older brother and looked to Mindy. "He'll be fine. In fact, I'll aid with the gathering of supplies you'll need."

[identity profile] cobalt-inferno.livejournal.com 2012-01-19 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good? I'm the b--" and he stopped as Yukio raised a hand to him.

What the hell did he do now?! It was always like everyone, there was no point where he could be proud of himself when someone had to beat down on his talents, like Bon.

These where times where he missed the old geezer the most. Sure he was annoying, and old, and stuff... (Even though he really didn't think those things.) But at least he was always encouraging him.

Rin simply frowned and went back to his food, stuffing his mouth so he wouldn't have to talk.

Yukio sighed, dropping his head slightly at Rin's reaction. Apparently his sibling didn't quite get it. He'd like to think that their father would have taken the same route as he did...though Shiro would have been straight with Rin about it, simply telling him. And then hug him regardless since Rin was so special.

"Nii-san is an excellent worker as long as it doesn't require mathematics or anything resembling homework. He won't let you down." He'd better not, at least.

With reassurance from Yukio, at least it sounded like reassurance, Rin grinned big and nodded once, proud of himself.

"I can totally do that, you got nothing to worry about!"

And when it involved cooking, at least that line was very true. Ironically it was one of the few things he was excellent at and didn't fuck up.
