System Shock - Fight the Power!

Gods could be too arrogant. Such was the case of SHODAN, who had turned the Pods into a nightmarish zone where she could freely amuse herself and torture those that had come here.

But arrogance breeds pride which breeds mistakes. Instead of killing everyone off, she had decided to do this more slowly – watch them suffer in a slow agony, and, therefore had not expected them to fight back.

It had been a lucky shot, really, one in a million, But one of the people present that day had accidentally shot a tiny, insignificant object. A tiny little drone, that, once it had been the source of the power damper, had fallen. The tables were turned, and the goddess had been forced to retreat from the pods.

Now she was on a panicked mode, not only because some of the other people on the ship had managed to work their way into her system files, using another AI to send pointless images and sounds to her, distracting her from her task, but they knew how they could defeat her and gain their powers back.

It didn't take long for the message to be sent out, as the word quickly spread. Find the tiny little creatures, and shoot them down. SHODAN couldn't work their shields properly and once they were found, it was only a short matter of time before the powers returned to an area.

It would take time, but, finally, the tide of the battle was turning on the side of the crewmen and women. In vain, she was throwing her all; even more strange robot creatures, attacking in packs, but with hope on their side, they could win this...

[OOC - OKay go for it! NPC players, feel free to NPC as many robots as you like. Players, once your powers return, feel free to make as much scrap metal as you like, no need to have people NPC for you if you just want to write tags of them kicking ass.]

Good, he said, meaning the conversation, not the news.

How far away is this other group? he said as he lopped through the chest of the final combatant. If I've got a moment I can switch to wearing them down slowly, and any damage you can do to them will definitely help in that case...

"Let's see if I can stall for just a bit (a lot) of time, here. I--ah (well that certainly makes things easier)," she said, cutting her words short. "It looks like that's no longer the case. A number of (humanoid) minds have arrived. Judging by the sudden spike of mingled excitement and anger, I'd gather they've engaged our opponents."

She looked up suddenly, eyebrows furrowed. "In which case, lead the way to...wherever it is we're heading (anywhere but here, rather). My knowledge of this locale is ah...slim (near non-existant) at best."

"Oh, well, if there's others, then..." He quickly swapped out his sword for his mace and shield, then took just a moment to lean against the wall and breathe. He wasn't precisely winded, but one took their chance to steady oneself whenever one could.

"All right!" he said after a moment, pushing himself fully vertical again. "Let's get over there and absorb some damage!" He hefted his mace, then paused. "Uh, by which I mean me. I'd prefer you not get hurt."

She walked up beside Maridian and propped herself against the wall as well, then raised a hand to pat him on the shoulder. It was both meant to be a comforting gesture and maybe just a bit apologetic for the lack of offensive skills she possessed at the moment.

"I'll just stand far over in the back and supervise the fight like any good do-nothing. Should I run commentary like a sports announcer as well (sans the overbearing obnoxiousness)?"

It's his own fault for letting someone on the battlefield be in danger, weapons or no. (He believed that, quite thoroughly.) He was the one who owed her an apology.

"Oh, please!" he said, perking up at the offer. Quite sincerely.
piggyback_ride: (Well you see)

Really sorry for the late-as-hell response. Tags kind of took a backseat this past week.

"Fantastic," she said, flashing a grin. Mindfuck motioned down the hallway with one hand, and once he began down it she started her commentary.

"Coming out to the field is Maridian Gladespring, player number oh-one. Now folks, Maridian here comes from a Lovecraftian-era world full of antediluvian horrors where even the goats (goat-squids?) have started walking upright and talking. He's an elf but despite popular media's portrayal, there seems to be little fanciful about this player (other than that oh-so well-maintained hair, of course!). He's being met on the field by generic obliterate-bot prototype model 004-G11, from team Shodan."

"From the left," she added.

A part of her wanted to go the whole way with this marvelous expenditure of time but she was sure that walking around in his head in full business wear, microphone in hand, would offer just a bit too much of a distraction. In her experience it was fairly difficult for most humanoids to focus on both what went on in their heads and be mindful of their reality.
