Sobek the Immortal [Closed]
Planet Designation: Kalimba
Status: Terrestrial, H-class.
Non-sentient life: Extensive flora and fauna.
Semi-Sentient Life: Unknown
Sentient Life: Ruins and step pyramids suggest the presence of intelligent life at some point. Currently: Unknown.
Water: 70.2% of the planet's surface. Heavy rainfall/monsoons.
Climate: Earth-like.
Landscape: Primarily jungle and swamp, some plains, severe arctic conditions in northern and southern poles.
Air: Type I (breathable)
Sky: Blue-green.
Warnings: Medium to high levels of megafauna. Watch your step. Conditions in the atmosphere make several forms of orbital scans and equipment unreliable.
Mission: Archaeological investigation of step pyramids and ruins, investigate for signs of source of abnormal energy signature in target area.
The first thing the group would notice was that Kalimba's air was humid and heavy, with a light breeze. The morning had long since burned off most of the mist, and in the distance, clouds lazily drifted onwards towards the horizon. The typhoon season was a long ways off.
The undergrowth was tangled and dense, seemingly impassable in places. Vibrant flowers and vines took up residence where some of the tree cover faltered. With limited sunlight available, it was every plant for themselves. Disturbed by the archaeology group, "birds", each easily half the size of a person and more salamander than avian suddenly took to the air in a flash of brilliantly colored wings. They were gone almost instantly, slicing through the air and leaving only the ear-splitting shriek behind.
The hill sloped down. The cover of trees broke as they came out onto the stone remains of path that must have once been heavily used. Now, just like everywhere else, massive roots and tanglers tore at the ground, slowly swallowing any signs of civilization back within itself. There were trees of all shapes and sizes as far as the eye could see, a rolling wave of jungle and rainforest. Tan and dirty gray step pyramids, all more massive than those found on Earth, and the occasional obelisk rose through the canopy cover like claws, dotting the landscape.
Stac's scans indicated much of the planet was covered in these structures, with the largest in this location. Aside from the archaeological mission, her scans also indicated the presence of an abnormal power that may be of interest.

Re: Throne room -[Vala]
As quickly as she'd spouted out the ill considered offer he was backing away. Something had occured to him. She knew enough to know he was just posturing, Goa'uld were adept at it and Sobek was no exception. The greed had been unmistakeable as he'd looked her over, it wasn't admiration anyway. That was an emotion that Goa'uld were incapable of.
If posturing was the game they were playing here, then she was best served trying to match it, and the more fascinated he became by her, then the more attention he would pay her. At least that was the plan.
"You should ask your host who my daughter is." She sneered in return, testing his patience further in the hopes that he'd bite and forget about the others. If Sobek thought he was all powerful then he had a shock coming to him if the Ori ever reached this universe. And if he didn't know about them, he would certainly want to once he discovered they existed. Using Adria as some kind of weapon against him felt low, but Vala didn't care. She'd use every tool she had to get Daniel back.
Re: Throne room -[Vala]
Reports flooded their mind as he called up the information. Images of files that his vessel tried to hide the moment they thought it, it was only a matter of narrowing it down now. Sobek easily pushed against the pathetic attempt at resistance. File names from the SGC (Stargate Command, Cheyenne Mountain, United States, Earth, the Gate address blazing in their minds - "Standing orders; acquire weapons or technology that could help Earth in the defense against the Goa'uld, including establishing alliances offworld", his host talking to a Jaffa in the halls, a traitor, his host smiling politely at Sam's, Vala on the spacewalk), CLASSIFIED, General Landry, Ancients, the Ori. Adria. Sobek's mind hurtled through the information.
Beings capable of ascending to another plane entirely. Powers that exceeded their own, but not the will or strength to use it. Then there were those who did. The typed words clinically described what they could do. No actual proof, just words on paper. Any human could be impressed with technology and power great than their own, Sobek snapped.
Impossible.
"There can be no other power," Sobek answered.
My vessel was only a human. He could easily have been fooled, as could any of the lower races."
It was minute, but a second's uncertainty slipped past the God's face.
Re: Throne room -[Vala]
"Of course if it is true and your arrogance left you ill-prepared then you'll only have yourself to blame." She offered a sickly and sarcastic smile.
"Daniel only knows part of it, you need me for the rest."
Re: Throne room -[Vala]
Normally he'd punish her for the disrespect: he still had bodies around her and clearly she hadn't quite learned from the first lesson. Humans as a rule were slow. The reality was that while he was a God, he was at his most vulnerable right now. His fleet was grounded, in need of restoration. Sobek's hands twitched, hand device curling and uncurling, as if itching to burn out the human's mind for even suggesting he be taken unawares.
The other System Lords could come, finish what Kali and Bastet started. There were no sign of the Ancients or Ori that he'd ever seen, their return unlikely. The reports spoke of the Ancient's and their weakness. They were too afraid to use their powers. The idea that there was a being more powerful than his own race sent a chill through them. He shook it off.The Ori would have made themselves known if they did exist. The threat from the other System Lords was far more real.
His host's memory wasn't good or thorough enough on the subject. Scattered reports, nothing like what this Tau'ri hinted at. Sobek glanced at the blood and entrails that decorated the throne room. "Know this, slave. The lives around you are connected to the respect you show. You will tell me all I wish."
Re: Throne room -[Vala]
He could do what he liked to her, but until he released Daniel and took her in his place, she wasn't giving any more than she already had. She had something he needed and it was her only weapon against him. The stench of Eneesh's remains was unbearable by this point, whatever her race had inside them, it stank. Vala's gaze followed him looking at the blood and gore. She'd managed to sort of blank it out before, but now he returned her attention to it both with his gaze and threats.
"Most of it's buried in my subconscious," she lied easily. "I couldn't recall it if I wanted."
TIME SKIP - VALA

|||||||||||||||||||||
Vala had been dumped back in the prison cell. She was given the barest rations of water and food and left to stew in the remains of Eneesh that covered her. The guards came for everyone else but her, and it almost seemed like she'd been forgotten, doomed to rot in the prison. Everyone came back, days or hours later. Eneesh's crew did not. They were removed from their cell one day, and executed hours later in the courtyard below, Sobek watching it all unmoving. It was the only glimpse she got of him the entire time.
When the guards did come for Vala, they herded her down several chambers, away from the main throne room. She found herself in a small washing room, clearly meant for servants, and told to make herself presentable.
no subject
There had been fight in her for the first few days, demanding an audience with Sobek from the guards, only to be met each time with nothing. Not even words to silence her. It was as if she didn't exist. The others had come and gone, except Eneesh's crew, they'd simply gone. Vala had barely found the strength to peer through the bars out to the courtyard to see what the rumble of crowds was when they were executed. Slipping back down to the floor in defeated silence.
So much for making him want more from her, she was nothing. Her life summed up for her by a Goa'uld of all people. A Goa'uld that had taken the one person from her that she'd ever seen a ray of hope through. Her days would finally come to an end in this cell and she hadn't made a blind bit of difference to anything. She had no plan, no inspired escape - the lack of food and water made her incapable of anything save for scrabbling at the meager rations she was given like a street beggar. When they finally did come for her, she let them lead her like a rag doll. She was surviving, that was all she'd achieved, and even that might be coming to an end very shortly. He'd left her this long, maybe he needed nothing from her and she was being to led to the Courtyard herself now.
Despite her darkest fears, the washroom was too inviting to refuse. As much as her mind told her that she wasn't making herself presentable for any Goa'uld, she needed this. Her hair was matted with dried bloody remains and dirt, her lips cracked and calloused from the lack of water.
Hungrily she drank as much of the water as possible, it was strongly scented and clearly meant for washing rather than drinking, but it was water none-the-less and she splashed it at her face eagerly.

Several more Jaffa line the last tunnel, helmets following this lone prisoner, eyes cold and metal. The Jaffa indicated she step through the open door, then, muscles straining, the two pulled it shut. The last thing she saw was her two jailers taking their place with the other Jaffa. She was left inside a room with only one exit. The metal and stone closed with a soft thump. It sounded too heavy for a normal human to move by themselves.
The chamber was smaller than the throne room. Fireflies drifted in from somewhere small, or maybe made their nest, several hovering around the ceiling like living stars. The sound of water and steam filled the room, along with the scent of something sweet and smoky. Some strange incense maybe. There were several servants standing around the edges of the room or moving as quietly as possible.
Taking up the back of the room was a large pool of water. It only had one occupant. From the door, Vala might see only Daniel's chest and shoulders, eyes closed and neck craned back against the stone's edge as he relaxed. He didn't open his eyes or appear to notice she was there.
no subject
Her search stopped at him. Daniel. That was her first thought, she had to consciously set that aside to the back of her mind as quickly as it had come to the forefront. What did he want from her? She eyed the Goa'uld as he reclined lazily. Her thoughts flitting nervously as she tried to suss out the situation here. She wanted to speak, she wanted to talk to Daniel and check that he was hanging in there, but she knew he couldn't answer so what was the point.
"Well this is nice," she offered sarcastically instead, the reaction coming as second nature despite her worn down physical state. "Careful you don't drown."
no subject
Sobek cracked an eye open. Vala Mal Doran, looking moderately presentably. There was no hint of glowing, nor malice or arrogance. Just lazy contentment. After the throne room, the silence in response to her sarcasm, the disrespect was strange, uncharacteristic. He'd let her stew before. She could make the first move, do something to get his attention. Try to work things out as much as the limited human brain was capable of doing.
Shifting in the artificial hot spring, the System Lord closed his eyes again and sunk further into the heat.
no subject
A bowl of fruit caught her eye, and instead of engaging him or demanding what he wanted from her, she chose to casually pluck a piece of fruit and bite from it greedily. She was hungry, she'd take what she could, when she could. It also filled in the silence for her, stopping her from standing there like a slave ready to serve - she was far from that, and the simple action of helping herself wordlessly told him that.
"So." She eventually ventured, not sure what else to add. So she simply left it at that. She wasn't sure he wanted anything from her, maybe it was just another round of keep her guessing.
no subject
It appeared the silence had unnerved her. Sobek watched her eat seemingly without opening his eyes. Eating food she didn't know the source of. She's desperate, Daniel thought unhappily. Of course she'd take anything. He couldn't watch her reduced to taking where she could but it wasn't like he had a choice. Besides, it wasn't like Sobek needed to resort to a poison to kill anyone. The ribbon device remained on their hand, the metal talons on the other; if the System Lord wanted to kill, he'd do it with his bare hands. It wouldn't take much to cover the room easily, swiftly, and snap her neck. Or there were infinite ways to use a hand device, if only one had enough creativity. Both arms rested across the edge of the spring. The hand device lay dormant.
When she spoke, trying to break the silence once again, it was a small victory.
"Where are my manners?" Sobek said. Daniel's voice was quiet, almost sheepish.
no subject
He had no right to use his voice though, as quickly as she'd smiled it reminded of what he was doing to Daniel. Vala felt a wave of angry heat well up inside her wanting to lash out at him. As weak as she was, she was sure she could find the adrenaline for it.
"Let him go." She spoke quietly through cracked lips, barely audible through the thick muting steam. The offer she'd made back in the throne room was probably moot, he'd already shown her that she was inconsequential. Of all of them, Vala had been the one left the longest, left without the chance to clean herself and only enough water and food to keep her barely clinging on. She was less than any of them, he'd made that clear. It didn't matter how much she tried to turn her life around, she'd always end up on the floor of a dirty cell and forgotten.
Which was why she didn't know why she was here now. Why he'd had her brought to him. There was obviously nothing he felt he needed from her, so why now?
no subject
Sobek opened his eyes. "Are you begging?"
His host's reaction to Vala's offer had been surprised then horrified. On his world, any of his subjects would desperate to be the vessel to a God, but it wasn't so with these humans. Being taken is worse than death, he'd rather die, had gone through Daniel's head during the missions through the Stargate, over and over, resounded even now as he was entwined further with the Goa'uld. The host meant something more to Vala in order for her to make the offer. His host's mind had images of meeting her on the ship, everything up till then. Complicated for a human, but not quite clear.
His host's side of things was irrelevant. All Sobek needed to know was that Vala cared on some level. It was a weakness he could draw blood from.
A little shiver went through him as if shaking off sleep, finally rousing out of the heated lethargy. Satisfied with the bath, The System Lord rose out of the massive pool, water running down his nude body and catching on the talons of the hand device and armlets. Gracefully, he stepped onto the edge. The slave stood by with the shendyt, but like all good slaves, could read his master’s wants and needs before it needed a voice. This one was well trained. The slave remained where he was, rather than rushing to clothe him.
The System Lord took each step slowly, feet gently touching each stone step, completely unashamed as he took his time approaching her.
no subject
Vala's voice was stuck somewhere inside her, fighting between wanting to figuratively spit in his face or give in entirely. The heat in the room was smothering, sending her lightheaded and dizzy with the lack of nutrition. It was taking all her strength just to stand tall infront of him. There were so many conflicting emotions, emotions that she barely knew how to deal with at best. Closing them off and denying them wasn't an option here. Vala was acutely aware that Daniel was watching too. Pessimism told her he was judging her as much as she knew Sobek was manipulating her.
It was all too much. "If I have to, yes." She could hear him, hear Daniel telling her to not bow to Sobek. But she had to, to have any chance of saving him, she had to. And he could hate her for the rest of his life for her choices, but what would that matter? He'd be free and she'd be back in a living hell anyway.
The words had only barely escaped the sore cracks in her lips and he was walking towards her naked. She despised every last inch of him. It wasn't Daniel she told herself, choosing to focus on the space between them rather than him. Vala hated herself just for the fact she had to remind herself of that. Was that what he was banking on? Her attraction to Daniel would make her want him? Oh God, please let that not be what he wanted. She's used her body as a tool for more years than she could remember, sleeping with men she hated to achieve her ends but this was different. Hell, she'd even propositioned Ba'al but it had all been bluff. There was no option for bluffing here.
She hoped to God she was wrong, as little as she valued her own self worth and her body, she didn't know if she could do this. Vala wasn't the woman she had once been, and for the first time since being at the SGC and on Stacy, she regretted those changes with a passion. She needed to find her old self to cope with this, the person that Daniel had tried to help her not be. It was ironic that in the end, it might be that very woman that could save him.

Sobek wasn’t interested in her on any other level besides as the perfect host for himself, but he had more on his mind than bodily urges. He’d had thousands of years to move on from the novelty, and the need to tear into living things was far more pressing, more interesting. Using what his host knew of Vala’s feelings and his host’s body were all valid weapons in any breaking in process of any slave. Anything to keep her thrown off and unable to find her guard, to keep her weak. Vala tried to look anywhere but at her friend’s body. This was not just him but Daniel in here with him, and Daniel's face he wore. He would not allow her to forget it.
He started to lift his hand, the gold caps of the ribbon device reflecting the torch light.
The jewel didn’t glow. No force pushing her to the ground or rippling through her mind.
Daniel’s hand slid down the planes of his chest instead, absorbing every inch of the slick skin there, then glided down his stomach with a lazy inevitability, down, down, down. He stopped short, less than an inch from below their naval. Long fingers stopped short and splayed less than an inch from the destination. Inside, his host cringed back, humiliation leaking everywhere as the System Lord continued the game. His hand went no further. Sobek only watched her reaction, blue eyes piercing. A tiny smile that was so Daniel and not a System Lord tugged at the edge of his mouth. Under any other circumstance, it might’ve looked playful, mischievous.
But with Sobek at the helm, it came off as slightly deliberate and sly. Baiting a rodent you could kill at any time.
Sobek said nothing. He didn’t have to, the message was enough. Like what you see?
no subject
There was a part of her that didn't want to stop seeing Daniel, didn't want to forget for a moment that he was inside and the only reason she was considering this was for him. And if she was right, which judging by the way he was displaying himself so indulgently she was, then maybe it was better to see Daniel and not Sobek, maybe that would make it easier. The light caught the ribbon device and her twisted thought process was broken instantly. The dull grey of her eyes that usually shone a bright green blue drifted to the weapon hypnotically.
It was enough to thoroughly remind her that he was dangerous, she needed to stop being so confused and focus. How could she have even considered that seeing him as Daniel would help her? Oddly it wasn't the threat that the ribbon device presented to her that struck her, if she could somehow get it off him then... or even touch it. She wasn't sure if she could power it without actually wearing it, but the opportunity to test that theory would present itself sooner or later. She would hold on to that thought. Even as his hand pushed down, following the clear trail down the V of his hips it was the ribbon device that took her attention. A reminder of his sadistic nature and a the remotest chance of a possible way out.
It made the smile that much easier, the corners of her lips quirked in response to his deliberate smirk. Belying her true intent, she responded in the way he wanted her to. A small smile that suggested her admiration, not the seeds of her scheming.
no subject
He let his hand glide to a hip and slide down his thigh, where it hung at a safe distance as he drew close to her. Sobek swelled with pride and satisfaction, this time letting the divide between their emotions stand, relishing his host trying to huddle away. He'd continued to assert his dominance with his own vessel, proving once again who was in control and where Daniel stood. Vala seemed to stare at him, almost hypnotized. It was only fitting for how one reacted to a deity.
Sobek circled the prisoner, all weight and deadly power singing through his limbs. Every day brought new strength to the God, helped him heal the spinal injury that much more. Given a few more weeks and he’d heal completely. He took her in at every angle, eyes exposing her just as much as she had. Perfect.
He came to a stop in front of her and looked down into her eyes, unblinking. The System Lord searched her eyes as Daniel had back in his hotel room. His eyes flitted down and away from her, considering something, then returned. The smile faded.
"You'd really take what's another's, wouldn't you?"
no subject
Sobek looked right into her eyes and she could give him nothing but sheer defiance mixed in with desperation in return. She could reach out and touch the ribbon device if she wanted now he was close, attempt to channel her own naquadah energy and hope to override his control. But it was risky, if it failed without her actually wearing it herself, then she'd have blown her chance. She wasn't exactly strong right now either, even under his close piercing scrutiny alone she could feel the weakness in her legs.
"You mean like you did. Took Daniel's body for your own. No, I would never do that, but I'd give myself to save him."
no subject
"I was offered, I'm sure you know her. Tell her thanks by the way," Sobek eventually took a step back, like he suddenly caught wind of some new archaeological find, if he wasn't completely nude. It was the same distracted look, the same turn. The step backwards still kept him uncomfortably within her personal space. It only took a single glance to sense how her limbs trembled. Fear or physical weakness?
Defiance could be stamped out. He would know all she had to say about the Ori and Adria, and any technology she could offer before the end. He'd break her down any way he could first. Sobek licked their lips and looked to the ceiling, as if going over what he'd say before a briefing or testing out a possible theory. Or maybe Daniel realizing a truth about someone or something that he'd preferred to keep buried.
"But you... you're really kind of like one of them. You see what you want and I think you'd take it even when I'm spoken for. Pretty Goa'uld of you."
no subject
"That's not true." Where Vala had turned her cheek from him, looking out into the room rather than at him, the protest came with a sharp twist of her head to face him.
Her confusion was only amplified when it seemed to be Daniel talking to her, Daniel's disappointment in her. "No." Vala's voice trembled and she felt the hot prickle of tears, humiliation and anger welling up at his accusation. "That's not true either. Stop twisting what I'm saying, it's not true."
no subject
The slave bowed and scooted backwards, vanishing back towards his regular duties. Sobek's eyes twinkled, mouth quirked as if sharing a secret he shouldn’t have. Daniel's voice picked up in speed and cadence in contrast to the tremble of Vala's voice, obviously warming to the idea.
"Isn't it though? I mean, it's not like you haven't used me already. You like riches, above people. Count one there. Then there's the whole taking what you want, when you want, so it's only a matter of time, right? Very you."
no subject
"I've done what I had to to survive. You don't know what it's like out there on your own, neither of you." It wasn't even a convincing defence, Vala wasn't in any fit mental state to break down his assumptions over what was true, nor was she seeing what he was doing to her. She only heard an opinion, one that would never trust her, Daniel's opinion.
"Is that why you think I offered myself as a host, out of greed? I've lived through Qetesh, I would never choose that as an option again if I could see an alternative."
no subject
At long last, Sobek took several steps away, giving off the appearance of no longer wishing to be so close to her, that her presence was poisonous. He ran Daniel's hand through their damp hair. She'd been pushed more and more on the defensive, reduced to explaining herself to a better, trying to excuse away all of her actions up until now. Desperation once again but of a different kind. She desperately wanted to prove him wrong and prove herself to him at the same time.
"You know what they say, 'if the shoe fits...'" Another uncharacteristic shrug for a Goa'uld. "Maybe you got a little too used to the lifestyle."
no subject
Now all that seemed worthless, pathetic attempts to vindicate herself of all her crimes, of Qetesh's too. And at every turn, she'd failed. She'd unleashed the Ori on their galaxy, made them risk their lives when Athena came after her. Even the one act that had been selfless where she'd stopped the supergate had resulted in Adria and even having Daniel's consciousness inside her had proven nothing more than the fact she was a seductress. What was it he'd said 'That he cared more for her than he had a right to.' She was a whore, chasing a married man where she should have backed off. Even now, her offer to be host in lieu of Daniel was read as greed.
He was right, she was what she was and that would never change. Vala Mal Doran was a fake and a thief. She felt sick, the combination of the basking heat in the room and the truth that Sobek had gleaned from Daniel. Her head swam with dizzyness and the lack of energy, torn between lunging for him or simply crumpling to the floor.
Vala's body gave out on her, choosing the latter and dropping to her knees.
